Own a Victorian home facing Petersham Park, rent a flat on Audley Street, or run a grill on New Canterbury Road? Our current 2049 deals stretch to Taverners Hill and the Parramatta Road edge as well. Name the promotion when you phone and we deduct it from the job.

Petersham packs a lot into 1.29 square kilometres. The 2021 Census recorded 47.2 per cent flats, 26.5 per cent terraces or semis and 22.5 per cent separate houses, a long way from the 65.6 per cent house share statewide. Wealthy families built Victorian and Edwardian mansions here around the turn of the last century, many clustered near Petersham Park, while terraces run north of the station toward Parramatta Road. We do full rewires, board changes and added circuits without harming original plaster and joinery.

New Canterbury Road and Audley Street form the shopping strip, known for Portuguese restaurants and their charcoal grills, with cafes, clubs and small offices mixed in. Parramatta Road adds larger commercial frontages. We run feeds for grills and refrigeration, tenancy lighting and exit signage around each trading day.

We offer same-day service anywhere in Petersham, from Taverners Hill across to the Stanmore side. Common urgent faults here include a Victorian house losing circuits after heavy rain, a grill restaurant tripping during the dinner rush, and a flat block with dead stairwell lights.
Just over half of Petersham homes are leased, so property managers and landlords ring us about alarm compliance and tired boards between tenants. Owners of the big Victorian and Edwardian houses around Petersham Park want modern kitchens and air conditioning fed without ripping out ornate ceilings. As a Petersham electrician we also look after cafes, grill houses and shops along New Canterbury Road and Audley Street.
Work changes street to street. Near Parramatta Road it is mainly terraces with narrow halls and shared walls; around Taverners Hill it leans toward semis and small blocks of units. Tracing an old shared neutral, replacing cloth-covered cable in a mansion, or an urgent callout to a restaurant kitchen are routine jobs for our team across the Inner West.

Large late 1800s and early 1900s houses remain around Petersham Park, many close to original. We replace aged cable, add earthing and new circuits while protecting ornate ceilings, cornices and timber joinery.
Terraces and semis make up 26.5 per cent of homes, mostly north of the railway. We work through tight hallways and party walls to upgrade boards and fit safety switches on every circuit.
At 50.7 per cent, Petersham's rental share is well above the NSW figure. Managers book us to replace hard-wired smoke alarms, test RCDs and supply dated records for the landlord.
New Canterbury Road and Audley Street carry a well known cluster of Portuguese restaurants. We install dedicated feeds for grills, ovens and cool rooms, and schedule shutdowns outside service.

From late Victorian mansions near Petersham Park to narrow terraces by Parramatta Road, our licensed team has opened up enough local walls to know where old cable hides.

We quote after an on-site look and put one firm figure on paper. A unit near the station and an Edwardian house on a wide block are priced as the separate jobs they are.

When a grill kitchen on Audley Street loses power at service time or a flat goes dark, we reshuffle the day’s run to reach you as fast as the roads allow.

Our 250+ customers include Petersham landlords, restaurateurs and heritage home owners, and plenty came to us after a neighbour recommended our work over the back fence.

Whatever we wire in a Petersham house, flat or shop carries a lifetime guarantee on labour, including cable concealed behind restored cornices and ceiling roses.

Tell us about side gates, rear lanes or intercom access when you ring. We then offer a slot that fits your tenants, your family routine or your restaurant’s prep hours.

With the board inspected and the old cable routes traced, we lay out the choices in plain language and send a written figure you can sign off with confidence.

Kerbside spaces near Petersham station vanish early, so our electrician works out a legal stopping point beforehand and keeps to the agreed window. Heavy New Canterbury Road traffic means a courtesy call.

Drop sheets protect original floorboards and tiles, and all waste goes back in our van. Afterwards you get the compliance certificate and a brief note listing the changes.

Local pockets we cover in Petersham
Nearby suburbs we also serve

Our story began in 2017, when Spyro opened the doors with one van. The crew now numbers more than five licensed electricians, and Petersham is among the Inner West suburbs we visit most, because its housing asks for patience: century-old mansions near the park, terraces with shared walls, and walk-up flats with crowded meter panels. We also keep grill restaurants and cafes on Audley Street running. One electrician handles your job from quote to handover.

Petersham kept a notable stock of Victorian and Edwardian mansions from its era as a retreat for wealthy families, and Wikipedia notes many are still in near original condition. Behind those facades we often find cable and boards that no longer suit modern loads, so rewiring is the job we quote most here.

Petersham jobs close out with a CCEW lodged under NSW rules, recording what we tested and installed. Many homes here are well over a century old, so any original wiring we disturb is either brought up to standard or noted in writing. AS/NZS 3000 puts RCDs on the final subcircuits whenever a board is replaced or altered, and Type AC units have had no place in fresh installations since 1 May 2023, so Petersham boards get Type A.
You get a fixed figure in writing before any tools come out. Phone estimates rarely hold in 2049: extra power points in a recent unit near the station can take an hour or two, yet the same request in a two storey Edwardian house by Petersham Park may mean lifting floorboards and fishing cable past original ceilings. We look first, then commit.
Porcelain fuses in a terrace off Parramatta Road, an alarm deadline from your agent, or a grill kitchen on Audley Street short on capacity? Our licensed team will check it in person on 02 8999 3691, write down a firm figure and stand behind the workmanship for life.
Questions like these come up constantly from Petersham landlords, terrace owners, strata committees and grill house operators. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Often on the day you call. Our team works 7am until 5:30pm on weekdays and 7am until 2pm on Saturdays, and Petersham sits right on the routes we drive between Leichhardt and Marrickville. Ring 02 8999 3691 early and we can usually fit you in. Let us know if you smell burning or the main switch keeps tripping, because those move ahead of routine bookings.
We only price after seeing the job. A new circuit in a modern flat near Petersham station and the same circuit in a Victorian mansion with lath and plaster ceilings take very different effort. After the inspection we hand you a firm written figure that holds unless you choose to extend the scope.
Maybe not. Houses built around Petersham Park in the late 1800s and early 1900s have usually been rewired in parts over many decades, so we find cloth or rubber insulated cable joined to newer PVC, missing earths and ceramic fuses. Boards like that seldom have RCDs. We test each circuit, tell you what is sound and quote only what needs replacing.
It changes how we work rather than whether we can. Petersham has listed items such as the railway station, the reservoir and the Masonic temple on New Canterbury Road, and many older houses carry protected facades. Internal wiring is usually fine; the care goes into keeping meter boxes, conduits and new outdoor lights off the street front. Check with Inner West Council if you are unsure about approvals.
It depends on where the fault is. Circuits running from your unit’s own board are generally the lot owner’s job, while the main board, risers and stair lighting tend to be common property. With 47.2 per cent of Petersham dwellings being flats, we get asked this every week. Once we pinpoint the cause, the owner and the building manager both get a written explanation.
You need a working alarm on each level of the house. Once a tenant reports a fault it has two business days to be repaired, and alarms reaching ten years from their manufacture date must go. Hard-wired alarms can only be installed by a licensed electrician. With half of all local homes leased, we do many compliance runs and can also arrange smoke alarm testing at each changeover.
Yes. The Portuguese restaurants on Audley Street and New Canterbury Road run heavy charcoal and gas grill extraction, refrigeration and dishwashers, often in old shopfronts with limited supply. We assess the incoming capacity, run dedicated circuits, fit exit and emergency lighting and book the noisy parts outside service. Our commercial electricians can also handle scheduled maintenance.
It depends on the property. Petersham averages 1.1 cars per dwelling, and many terraces have no driveway, so a charger usually needs a rear lane garage, a carport or a strata car space. Where there is a spot, we check spare capacity at the board, lay a separate circuit to the parking bay and mount the charger. We cannot install chargers on public footpaths.
We can. Tall ceilings in older Petersham homes suit fans well, but mounting points need care around decorative plaster. We locate a solid timber fixing, use a longer downrod where needed and run the switch wiring through the roof space. Our ceiling fan installation can include wall controls or remotes, and we leave the ceiling rose intact where possible.
The whole of Petersham 2049, including Audley Street, New Canterbury Road, Petersham Park, Taverners Hill, the station and the streets toward Parramatta Road and Fort Street High School. We also work daily in Lewisham, Stanmore, Leichhardt, Marrickville, Annandale, Enmore, Dulwich Hill, Summer Hill, Newtown and the rest of the Inner West.
