Leasing a floor off Martin Place, fitting out a Pitt Street Mall tenancy or running a bar near Town Hall? Current city specials also reach Wynyard Park, Macquarie Street and the QVB end of George Street. Quote this promotion on the phone and we deduct it from your fixed quote.

People do live in town: the 2021 Census counted 16,667 residents in the suburb of Sydney, with a median age of 32. Apartments made up 99.2 per cent of dwellings, 72.0 per cent were rented, and two-bedroom units were the single biggest group at 45.3 per cent. For owners, tenants and building managers we swap out tired unit boards, add extra power points to studies and kitchens, and fix lighting in high-rise corridors.

This is Australia’s main financial centre, with 40.7 per cent of city businesses in finance or professional services. Martin Place carries the banking towers and Pitt Street the retail core. For offices, shops, restaurants and hotels we do office and retail fit-outs, tenancy switchboards, structured data cabling and scheduled emergency lighting tests.

Same-day service reaches every city block from Circular Quay south to Goulburn Street. Common urgent calls: a tenancy losing half its lights before a client meeting, a restaurant breaker dropping during lunch, exit signs failing their battery test, and a high-rise unit board that will not reset.
Most calls from postcode 2000 come from facility managers, office tenants, retailers and restaurant operators, though strata committees and apartment owners keep us busy too. Floors turn over constantly in a city where about 15 per cent of Greater Sydney’s workforce is employed, so partitions move, desks double and power has to follow. As your CBD electrician we work within building rules, loading dock bookings and the access windows each manager sets.
One week might bring rewiring a Castlereagh Street boutique for new display lighting, relocating floor boxes after a reshuffle near Wynyard, and testing exit lights in a George Street arcade. When something fails without warning, our emergency electricians come straight in so trading or work can resume. We cover this core and the rest of the City of Sydney, from the Rocks to Chinatown.

Finance and professional firms dominate the CBD, and every lease change reshuffles workstations. We relocate floor boxes, add partition power, re-lamp ceilings and label new circuits at the tenancy board.
Pitt Street Mall and the heritage arcades host constant shop changeovers. We install display lighting, signage feeds and point-of-sale power, working after close so the centre keeps trading.
Nearly every home in the city is an apartment, and 72 per cent are rented. We upgrade unit boards, replace hard-wired alarms and separate lot faults from building faults.
Cafes, restaurants and bars around Town Hall and Circular Quay run heavy equipment. We add dedicated circuits for ovens, coffee machines and refrigeration and balance loads across phases.

Our licensed team knows commercial towers, arcade tenancies and heritage shopfronts along George and Macquarie Streets, and comfortably works within building management induction and permit systems.

After walking the floor and checking the board, we send one fixed figure in writing. A Pitt Street retail shell and a high-rise apartment are never priced from the same template.

A dead tenancy near Martin Place or a tripped kitchen circuit near Town Hall costs money by the minute, so we move those calls ahead and get an electrician in quickly.

Office managers, shop owners and city apartment residents make up a good share of our 250+ customers, and they value work that meets deadlines set by landlords and building managers.

Labour on every circuit we install in a CBD office, shop or unit is guaranteed for life, whether it runs under a raised floor or behind new partition walls.

Send the building address, your level and any dock booking or permit rules. We then book a time that fits your trading hours, tenancy handover or building manager’s access calendar.

We inspect the tenancy board, ceiling space and existing circuits, then provide a written fixed figure with the scope set out, ready for your landlord or project manager to approve.

City parking is tight, so we pre-book loading docks or bays where possible and arrive inside the window agreed, calling ahead if traffic around George Street holds us up.

Ceiling tiles go back in place, offcuts and packaging are carted away, and the building file gets a compliance certificate along with updated circuit schedules.

Spyro started the company in 2017, and our five-plus licensed electricians now spend a large part of every week inside city office towers, shops and apartment buildings. Postcode 2000 suits a small, organised crew: we book docks ahead, follow induction rules and keep noisy work outside trading hours. From tenancy fit-outs near Martin Place to smoke alarm replacements in rented apartments, the same electricians stay on each job from quote to handover.

Every office tower, arcade, hotel and apartment block in the city relies on emergency lighting, and AS/NZS 2293 requires those fittings to be tested every six months. With thousands of tenancies packed between Circular Quay and Goulburn Street, failed exit signs are one of the most frequent CBD faults we are asked to fix.

A Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work is issued for every CBD job we complete, as NSW rules require, and building managers get a copy for their files. When we alter or replace a tenancy or unit board, AS/NZS 3000 brings RCD protection onto every final subcircuit, and Type AC devices have been barred from new installations since 1 May 2023. Emergency lighting we service is tested to AS/NZS 2293.
We will not quote a city job blind. Adding circuits to a tenancy on a raised floor near Martin Place can be quick, while the same scope in a heritage building on Macquarie Street may need permits, ceiling access and strict work windows set by management. We inspect first, then hand over one written figure your landlord or manager can sign off.
Moving floors, opening a shop, or failing an exit light inspection somewhere in postcode 2000? Call 02 8999 3691 and a licensed electrician will walk the site, give you a written fixed price and back every circuit with a lifetime labour guarantee.
Facility managers, office tenants, retailers, restaurant owners and city apartment residents ask us these questions most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Often, yes. Our electricians are on the road weekdays between 7am and 5:30pm, and on Saturdays until 2pm, starting at 7am. Call 02 8999 3691 early and we can usually get to a CBD building the same day, provided the dock or access is available. Tell us if a tenancy is dark or something is overheating so we prioritise it.
We inspect the tenancy, board and ceiling space before quoting. City buildings vary enormously, from modern towers with accessible risers to heritage shopfronts with limited space. Once we have seen it, you receive one written fixed figure with the scope described, which only changes if you ask for more.
Yes. We add power and data along new partitions, move floor boxes, rewire lighting to suit new layouts and connect kitchens and meeting rooms. With finance and professional services firms making up a large share of CBD businesses, most of our fit-out work is on office floors, and we coordinate with builders and building management throughout.
Every six months under AS/NZS 2293. Each light and exit sign is switched to battery and must stay lit for its rated duration, generally 90 minutes. We test, replace failures and give you a dated record, which supports the building’s annual fire safety statement where one applies.
Within our operating hours we plan noisy or power-off work for early mornings or Saturdays, before shops open or staff arrive. Many CBD buildings also set their own access rules, so we confirm those with the building manager before booking and keep shutdowns short and scheduled.
We can. Hospitality venues around Town Hall, George Street and Circular Quay need dedicated circuits for commercial ovens, dishwashers, refrigeration and coffee machines, plus exit and emergency lighting. We balance loads across three phases where supply allows and hand over labelled boards and compliance paperwork.
Yes. We run data points to desks, meeting rooms and ceiling-mounted access points, terminate at the comms rack and label everything, so future moves are straightforward. On most floors we coordinate data and power runs in the same visit to limit disruption.
It depends on location. Faults on your side of the unit board are usually the owner’s responsibility, while main boards, risers and corridor lighting generally belong to the owners corporation. With 99.2 per cent of city dwellings being apartments, we trace the fault first and put our findings in writing.
Each storey must have a functioning alarm, tenants who report a fault are owed a fix inside two business days, and any unit past ten years from its manufacture date has to come out. Only a licensed electrician may install hard-wired smoke alarms. With 72 per cent of city homes rented, this is regular work for us.
All of Sydney 2000, including Martin Place, Pitt Street Mall, George, Castlereagh, Elizabeth and Macquarie Streets, the QVB, Town Hall, Wynyard Park, Hyde Park, Bridge Street, Circular Quay and down to Goulburn Street. We also cover St James, Wynyard, The Rocks, Barangaroo, The Domain, Darling Harbour, Haymarket, Chinatown and Woolloomooloo.
