Specials are open now for Woolloomooloo households and businesses, from the Finger Wharf apartments and the Cowper Wharf Road eateries to Cathedral Street, Forbes Street and the blocks below the Domain. Tell us about the offer while booking and the saving goes straight onto your job.

The Woolloomooloo basin packs a lot into 0.37 square kilometres. At the 2021 Census, flats made up 72.8 per cent of dwellings and terraces or townhouses 26.1 per cent, with separate houses at just 0.5 per cent. Rows of workers’ terraces sit beside public housing built after the 1970s green ban, and the Finger Wharf now holds around 300 apartments above the water. We handle board replacements, circuits for renovated kitchens and fault tracing in walk-ups.

Commercial life hugs the bay. The Finger Wharf carries a hotel, restaurants and bars, Harry’s Cafe de Wheels has traded on Cowper Wharf Road since 1936, and Artspace works out of the heritage Gunnery building. We provide hospitality and commercial electrical work, from kitchen circuits to lighting upgrades, timed around service.

Our same-day service covers every corner of Woolloomooloo, from the wharf strip to the streets near William Street. Urgent calls here include salt-damaged outdoor fittings along the bay, a kitchen circuit failing mid-service, a terrace board refusing to reset after heavy rain, and stairwell lights out in a housing block.
More than seven in ten Woolloomooloo homes were rented at the 2021 Census, and a sizeable share of that stock is public housing, so we work for agencies, landlords and strata committees as much as for owner-occupiers. Restaurant and bar operators along the wharf keep us busy too, as do owners restoring terraces a short walk from the Domain. Having a Woolloomooloo-based electrician on call means you are not waiting for a crew stuck on the Eastern Distributor.
The job list reflects that mix. Terrace owners ask for rewires and new lighting that respects old plaster, wharf residents need faults traced through complex strata systems, and hospitality kitchens want more capacity without closing for a week. We also answer urgent electrical call-outs here and throughout the City of Sydney, and help landlords stay on top of alarm compliance.

Built between 1911 and 1915 on 3,600 piles, the wharf was converted in the mid-1990s into about 300 homes and a hotel. We trace faults through its strata systems and fit fittings rated for salt air.
Terraces make up 26.1 per cent of local dwellings, many dating from the basin's working-class past. We swap brittle cable and old fuse panels for modern RCD-protected boards while leaving cornices and street facades alone.
After the 1973 green ban, the basin was rebuilt with public housing, including 68 dwellings finished in 1979. We maintain lobby and stair lighting, unit circuits and shared boards for managing agencies.
Cowper Wharf Road and the Finger Wharf host a hotel, bars and eateries, plus Harry's famous pie cart. We add kitchen circuits, fix outdoor lighting and keep refrigeration powered through service.

Every electrician we send holds a licence and has been inside the Finger Wharf’s apartments, public housing walk-ups and Victorian terraces around the basin, so varied wiring and tricky access feel familiar.

Price comes after a look, and always in writing. A unit over the water and a two-storey terrace near Forbes Street get separate figures because their cable runs share nothing.

When a bayside restaurant loses a circuit before dinner or a rented flat goes dark, we move bookings around so an electrician reaches Woolloomooloo that same day.

Woolloomooloo tenants, landlords and wharf businesses are among the 250+ customers who have reviewed us, and many were referred by a neighbour in the same block.

The labour on each Woolloomooloo job is guaranteed for life, whether it is a wharf apartment board swap or new power in a restored terrace kitchen.

Let us know if your building has a concierge, a fob entry or a loading bay off Cowper Wharf Road, and we will pick a slot that works for you or your tenants.

We examine the board, access and any shared wiring, then set out the work and a fixed figure in writing so you can approve it before anything changes.

Parking along the bay is tight, especially near the wharf, so we plan a legal space in advance and arrive in the window we promised, calling if we are held up.

We lay drop sheets on terrace floorboards and wharf timber, take every offcut away, and leave the CCEW with a plain summary of what we did.

Local pockets we cover in Woolloomooloo
Nearby suburbs we also serve

Woolloomooloo work has been part of our week since Spyro got the business going in 2017, and today five-plus licensed electricians share it. The suburb asks for range: patient work on old terraces, careful coordination with wharf strata and housing agencies, and quick turnarounds for restaurants that cannot lose a night’s trade. We explain the job, show up when agreed and keep your home or venue in working order while we are there.

Leased homes made up 70.6 per cent of Woolloomooloo dwellings in 2021, more than double the NSW rate of 32.6 per cent, and a large share sits in terraces and older walk-ups. Keeping alarms current across that stock is one of the most frequent requests we get in 2011.

Once we finish in Woolloomooloo, the Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work that NSW law demands is lodged for that job. On the bay, salt air speeds up corrosion in outdoor fittings, so we note any affected gear for owners. If we replace or change a board, AS/NZS 3000 calls for RCDs on the final subcircuits, and we fit Type A devices or better because Type AC units lost approval for fresh installations on 1 May 2023.
We never quote blind. Adding lights in a Finger Wharf apartment often means working within strata rules and concealed ceiling voids, while a similar job in a terrace near Cathedral Street can involve lifting floorboards and old lath and plaster. Looking first lets us set one written fixed figure that reflects the real job and moves only when you add work.
Smoke alarms due in your rental, a tired terrace board, or a restaurant on Cowper Wharf Road that needs extra circuits? Book through 02 8999 3691; a licensed electrician assesses the job, writes down a fixed price and backs the labour with our lifetime guarantee.
Woolloomooloo landlords, terrace owners, wharf residents and hospitality operators ask us these the most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
In most cases. We start at 7am and finish at 5:30pm Monday to Friday, and work 7am to 2pm on Saturdays. Woolloomooloo is only minutes from the city routes we drive daily, so phoning 02 8999 3691 before about ten usually lands a visit that afternoon. Sparking, smoke or a main switch that will not hold get priority.
Only after we have seen it. The time needed for similar work swings widely here: a new outlet in a wharf apartment is quite different from one in a terrace with thick brick walls and no earthing. We inspect, explain the options and send a fixed written price that stays the same unless the scope grows.
Old rubber or cloth insulated cable, ceramic fuses, few or no RCDs, and circuits extended piecemeal over decades. Many terraces here predate modern standards, and renovations often added kitchens and air conditioning without upgrading the board. We test what is there, flag unsafe runs and quote a staged upgrade so you can spread the work if you need to.
Usually the lot owner is responsible for wiring beyond the unit’s own board, while main switchrooms, corridors, car parks and shared services belong to common property. The wharf’s size and layout make that boundary worth confirming. We trace the fault, record where it lies and give you and the building manager the same written report.
Yes. The Finger Wharf and the Gunnery at 43 to 51 Cowper Wharf Road are heritage listed, and many terraces in the basin sit under local controls. Interior rewiring is normally fine, but we keep new meter boxes, conduit and outdoor lights off protected facades and suggest you check with the City of Sydney before visible changes.
It can. Woolloomooloo fronts Sydney Harbour, and fittings close to the water face salt spray that corrodes terminals, outdoor lights and power points faster than inland. We recommend marine-grade or suitably rated fittings for balconies and waterfront facades, sealed enclosures for outdoor outlets, and regular checks for green corrosion or rust, which can cause tripping and heat damage.
Where there is a dedicated car space and strata agrees, usually yes. The 2021 Census found 43.6 per cent of Woolloomooloo households had no vehicle, so demand is lower than in the suburbs, but some wharf and newer block owners now drive electric. We check spare supply, propose metering and run a dedicated circuit to your bay. Kerbside chargers are outside our scope.
Yes. Bars and restaurants along Cowper Wharf Road and the Finger Wharf run long service periods, so we plan disruptive work outside trading and keep refrigeration live where possible. We install circuits for ovens and dishwashers, LED lighting for dining rooms, and exit and emergency lights that keep the venue compliant.
Yes, at no extra charge. On any booked visit we open the board, test safety switches and tell you if anything looks unsafe. In Woolloomooloo that often means old fuse panels in terraces or unlabelled circuits in walk-ups. You get a short note, and we only proceed with further work once you give the go-ahead.
Yes to both. Every electrician on the team is licensed in NSW and insured. Spyro formed the company in 2017, and the crew has since passed 7,000 projects. Workmanship on each job carries a lifetime labour guarantee, so if our work fails in your Woolloomooloo home or venue, we come back and fix it.
