Own a sandstone weekender off Palm Beach Road, a house facing Pittwater Park, or a place near Kiddies Corner and the golf club? Our limited specials run from Governor Phillip Park to Sunrise Road. Bring them up on the phone and they go straight onto your Palm Beach quote.

Palm Beach is almost entirely detached housing. The 2021 Census counted 88.9 per cent separate houses and 9.5 per cent flats, while 51.7 per cent of dwellings offer at least four bedrooms. It is an older, settled community with a median age of 58, and 55.3 per cent of dwellings are owned outright. Residential blocks were first sold in 1912, most early houses were built from local sandstone, and the oldest bungalows date from 1916 to 1919. We rewire those homes carefully, upgrade boards and wire renovations on large clifftop houses.

Business here is small and seasonal: cafes and restaurants, a milk bar, a large RSL, bed and breakfasts, the golf and sailing clubs, and the seaplane and ferry operations at the Pittwater wharf. We look after lighting, kitchen power and commercial maintenance for these venues, planned around summer crowds and quieter winter months.

We run a same-day service to Palm Beach, from the wharf and Pittwater Park out to the Barrenjoey end. Common urgent calls: a holiday house found with no power when the owners arrive, a pump or fridge circuit dead after a storm, a board tripping on a salty easterly, and scorched fittings in an old sandstone cottage.
Many Palm Beach homes sit empty for long stretches. On Census night in 2021, 38.5 per cent of private dwellings were unoccupied, far above the 9.4 per cent state figure, which fits a suburb full of weekenders and summer houses. Owners call us to find out why a board tripped while they were away, to fit timers and security lighting, and to check old wiring before guests arrive. As your Palm Beach electrician we also help permanent residents with bigger renovations on the Pittwater and ocean slopes.
The peninsula is long and narrow, with Barrenjoey Road the only road in, so we plan every trip. Clifftop houses near Little Head, sandstone cottages behind the beach, and homes above the wharf all get the same careful work. If something fails without warning, our emergency electrician service reaches the northern tip of the Northern Beaches as quickly as the road allows.

Most early Palm Beach houses were built from local sandstone after the 1912 land sales. We rewire them without damaging thick stone walls, and treat original fittings and joinery with care.
Reserves and national park bushland surround many homes, and fire reached Barrenjoey Headland in 2013. We check outdoor wiring, fit safety switches and repair storm-damaged circuits and garden lighting.
Over half of Palm Beach homes have four or more bedrooms. Air conditioning, pool equipment and big kitchens stretch old boards, so we add capacity, new circuits and clear labelling.
Cafes, restaurants, bed and breakfasts, the RSL and the golf and sailing clubs make up local business. We handle kitchen power, lighting upgrades and maintenance timed around the busy season.

Sandstone walls, long-held family houses and clifftop sites are familiar ground for our licensed team, and old cable paths with awkward access need that kind of experience.

Each quote is a written fixed figure. A small unit near the wharf and a five-bedroom house on the ocean side are priced separately, because the work and access differ so much.

When a holiday house loses power or a fault turns dangerous, we move Palm Beach up our list and aim to have an electrician on the peninsula that same day.

More than 250 customers rate our work, including Palm Beach owners who manage their homes from elsewhere and rely on us to report back clearly after every visit.

All our labour on Palm Beach homes carries a lifetime guarantee, whether it is a new board, garden lighting along a steep path, or a rewire behind sandstone.

If you are away, we can arrange access through a neighbour, agent or key safe. Choose a time that suits you, and we will confirm it by text before the day.

Once the board and the task have been assessed, an emailed fixed price follows, so owners living elsewhere can approve it before any work begins.

The drive up Barrenjoey Road is long in summer traffic, so we plan around it and arrive in the agreed window. If we are held up, we call ahead.

We leave the house as we found it, doors locked and lights off, and send photos, the compliance certificate and a plain summary of the finished work.

Since opening in 2017, Spyro’s crew has grown past five licensed electricians, and between us we drive the whole peninsula most weeks. Palm Beach suits us because careful, well-documented work matters here. Many owners are not on site, so we photograph what we find, explain options in plain words and wait for approval. From an old bungalow near the beach to a large family house above Pittwater, one crew stays with the job through to sign-off.

On Census night in 2021, 38.5 per cent of private dwellings in Palm Beach were empty, roughly four times the NSW rate of 9.4 per cent. Houses that sit idle between visits often hide tripped circuits, corroded fittings and ageing boards until the owners return.

Up at the northern tip, the paperwork is the same as anywhere in NSW: a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) follows every finished task. Many homes here date from the 1910s onward, so when we replace or change a board, AS/NZS 3000 requires RCD protection on the final subcircuits and we bring older boards up to that level. Type AC safety switches have been banned from new work since 1 May 2023, so we install Type A or better.
We inspect first, then give you one fixed figure in writing. Prices depend on the house: replacing lights in a flat near the wharf is quick, while running a new circuit through a sandstone cottage or down a steep clifftop block on the ocean side takes more time and care. You approve the price before we start, even if you are managing things from elsewhere.
Holiday house tripping while you are away, an old sandstone home that needs rewiring, or a café kitchen short on power near the wharf? Dial 02 8999 3691 and we will look it over, email a firm figure for approval and stand behind that workmanship for as long as you own the place.
Palm Beach owners, holiday-home families and venue operators put these questions to us most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Often, yes. Crews are out from 7am until 5:30pm Monday to Friday, plus 7am until 2pm Saturday, and we plan trips up the peninsula regularly. Call 02 8999 3691 early and we can usually reach Palm Beach that day. The drive is longer than for suburbs further south, so tell us straight away if there is a burning smell or no power at all.
We price after inspecting, not over the phone. A light change in a unit near the wharf is a short job, but new wiring in a sandstone cottage or a large clifftop home eats up far more hours. After a site visit we email a fixed price in writing, so you can approve it even if you are not in Palm Beach.
With 38.5 per cent of Palm Beach dwellings unoccupied on Census night, this is a common question. We suggest a yearly check before summer: test safety switches, look for corrosion on outdoor fittings, check that smoke alarms work and confirm the board is labelled. We can also fit timers and sensor lighting so the house does not look empty.
Yes. Many early Palm Beach homes were built of local sandstone after the 1912 subdivision, and the oldest bungalows date from 1916 to 1919. We route new cable through roof spaces and subfloors where we can, avoid cutting into stone, and protect original timber and fittings. We discuss any visible work with you first.
It can be. Much of the suburb borders bushland reserves and Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, and fire reached Barrenjoey Headland in September 2013. Keeping outdoor wiring in good order, removing damaged cables and making sure garden lighting is correctly protected all reduce risk. For wider bushfire planning, contact Northern Beaches Council or the NSW Rural Fire Service.
Palm Beach Headland was named Australia’s first Urban Night Sky Place in 2024. We suggest warm, shielded LED fittings aimed down at paths and steps, with sensors or timers so lights are only on when needed. This keeps steep driveways and stairs safe while limiting glare toward the headland and the water.
Many Palm Beach homes are large, with over half having four or more bedrooms, and older boards were not designed for today’s loads. The cause may be an overloaded circuit, a failing appliance or water in an outdoor fitting. We test each circuit, find the fault and, if needed, quote a switchboard upgrade with more capacity and proper RCD protection.
Usually, yes. Households here average 2.1 vehicles per dwelling, and most houses have a garage or carport. We check the board and supply, run a dedicated circuit and fit the charger with the correct safety switch. For steep blocks where the car sits well below the house, we plan the cable route to avoid heavy excavation.
Yes. Palm Beach has cafes, restaurants, bed and breakfasts, a large RSL and golf and sailing clubs. We upgrade kitchen circuits, lighting, exit signs and emergency lights, and schedule work outside busy summer periods where possible. Businesses near the Pittwater wharf also call us for maintenance on outdoor lighting exposed to salt air.
