Own a two-bedder off Railway Parade, a bungalow near Blakesley Road or a unit near Meade Park? Our Allawah deals stretch to Lancelot Street, PJ Ferry Reserve and the Allawah Hotel end as well. Mention this offer when you ring to book and we will apply it.

Allawah is a unit suburb first. At the 2021 Census, flats made up 77.6 per cent of occupied dwellings, compared with 21.7 per cent across NSW, and only 17.8 per cent were separate houses. Most units have two bedrooms (54.4 per cent). Rezoning by 1976 let walk-ups replace interwar California bungalows and Federation cottages near the railway, so we split our time between tired 1970s strata risers and original houses south toward St Georges Parade. Board replacements, extra kitchen circuits and cooler ceiling fans for top-floor flats are regular requests.

Commerce here is compact: the Railway Parade strip beside the station holds a newsagent, post office, grocer, takeaways, a hairdresser, a real estate office and the 1928 Allawah Hotel. For those tenancies we handle shop electrical work such as cool room feeds, lighting upgrades, signage circuits and fault tracing before the morning trade.

Same-day service covers all of 2218 on our side of the line, from Railway Parade down to George Street. Typical urgent jobs in Allawah: a 1970s walk-up losing power to every unit on one riser, a scorched meter panel in a stairwell, or a bungalow switchboard buzzing after heavy rain.
Almost half of Allawah households rent (46.1 per cent at the last Census), so agents and investors keep us busy with changeovers, while owner-occupiers in the older houses call about rewiring rooms that still run on original circuits. Strata committees ask us to relight car parks and common stairs, and the shops along Railway Parade want extra outlets and brighter frontages. Anyone searching for a local Allawah electrician usually needs someone patient with narrow unit hallways and shared meter rooms.
On a given week we might test hard-wired smoke alarms in a three-storey block near the station, swap a ceramic fuse panel in a Federation cottage off Blakesley Road, then chase an urgent power fault for a takeaway shop. We cover the rest of St George and Canterbury-Bankstown the same way, but Allawah’s mix of dense units and older freestanding homes makes it a suburb we know well.

Allawah was rezoned for units by 1976, and many three-storey blocks from that period still have original risers and cramped meter rooms. We upgrade lot boards, relight stairwells and trace faults shared between units.
California bungalows went up here after the station opened in 1925. Their rubber-sheathed cable and fuse panels are often near the end of their life, so we test first and then rewire room by room.
With 46.1 per cent of Allawah homes rented, managers book us between tenants to replace ageing alarms, check RCDs and leave landlords a dated report for their records.
The shops beside Allawah station include a grocer, takeaways and a newsagent. We add refrigeration circuits, fix tired fluorescent battens and sort signage wiring without shutting the counter for long.

Our licensed electricians regularly open up Allawah walk-ups built after the 1970s rezoning, and we know how their shared risers, meter rooms and lot switchboards are usually laid out.

After a look at the job, you get one written figure. A two-bedroom unit near Railway Parade and a bungalow toward Blakesley Road are priced separately, because the work involved differs.

When a whole Allawah block goes dark or a meter panel smells hot, we rearrange the day’s run so a licensed electrician reaches you as soon as we possibly can.

Investors, strata managers and home owners around Meade Park and Lancelot Street are among our 250+ customers, and plenty came to us after a neighbour in the same building recommended us.

Every circuit we wire in an Allawah unit, cottage or Railway Parade shop carries our lifetime guarantee on labour, so a fault in our workmanship is fixed at no charge.

Give us the building name or street, the lot number and any intercom or garage code. We then offer a slot around your tenants, your strata manager or shop hours.

Our electrician inspects the board and cable paths, explains what is needed, then emails a fixed written figure. Nothing starts in your Allawah home until you have approved it.

Allawah streets near the station fill with commuter cars, so we plan where the van will stop and arrive in the agreed window. Delays get a phone call, not silence.

Floors are covered in common hallways, scraps and old fittings leave with us, and the strata manager or owner receives the compliance certificate and a plain summary of the work.

Spyro started the business in 2017, and today five-plus licensed electricians work under his name across southern Sydney. Allawah shows up in our diary most weeks because its blocks of units keep producing small, fiddly faults that strata managers want sorted properly. We have also rewired interwar bungalows on the quieter southern streets and upgraded lighting for shops near the station. The electrician who quotes your job is normally the one who comes back to finish it.

More than three in four Allawah homes are flats, and many blocks date from the unit rezoning that was in place by 1976. Their original main boards and riser cabling are now close to half a century old, which is why strata electrical upgrades are our most common larger job in 2218.

Every job we finish in Allawah comes with a CCEW, the Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work required under NSW law. In a 1970s walk-up that often means documenting which lots we touched and what was found in the shared meter room. Changing or replacing a board brings AS/NZS 3000 residual current protection onto its final subcircuits, and since 1 May 2023 new work cannot use Type AC safety switches, so we install Type A units.
We never guess a price over the phone for Allawah jobs. Adding a power point in a brick unit near the station may be quick, while the same outlet in an interwar bungalow on a timber floor can mean crawling under the house and lifting skirting. Once our electrician has seen the space, you receive a fixed written figure that holds unless you change the scope.
Tripping circuits in a Railway Parade unit, an agent asking for new smoke alarms, or a fuse board in a Blakesley Road bungalow that has seen better days? Ring 02 8999 3691. A licensed electrician will inspect the job and give you a firm written price, backed by our lifetime labour guarantee.
These questions come mostly from Allawah unit owners, landlords, strata managers and shopkeepers along Railway Parade. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Often the same day. Our team works 7am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 2pm on Saturday, and Allawah sits right on our regular routes between Hurstville and Kogarah. Ringing 02 8999 3691 early gives us the best chance to fit you in. If something is sparking, smells of burning, or a whole unit block has lost power, say so and we will treat it as a priority.
We inspect the job before quoting, because Allawah properties vary so much. A tidy two-bedroom unit with a modern board is very different from a bungalow still running its original circuits under timber floors. After the visit we give you a fixed written price. That figure stays put unless you ask us to add extra work along the way.
Blocks from the period when Allawah was rezoned for units commonly have ageing main switchboards, undersized risers and lot boards with limited or no RCD protection. Loads have grown since then with air conditioners, induction cooktops and dryers, so nuisance tripping and warm connections are common. We inspect the common-property equipment and each lot board, then give the owners corporation a prioritised written report.
It usually comes down to location. Wiring beyond your lot’s own board, feeding your rooms, typically belongs to the owner, while the main board, meter panel, risers and common lighting are generally common property. With 77.6 per cent of Allawah dwellings being flats, we sort this out often. We trace the fault and send both you and the strata manager a written finding.
Each storey of a rented home needs a working alarm. Once a tenant reports a fault, the landlord has two business days to repair it, and alarms more than ten years past their manufacture date must be replaced. Hard-wired alarms must be fitted by a licensed electrician. Since almost half of Allawah households rent, we do plenty of smoke alarm testing for managers between leases.
Yes. Many of the freestanding houses on Allawah’s southern streets are interwar bungalows or Federation cottages. We work through the roof space and under the floor where we can, which keeps wall damage small and protects original ceilings and joinery. Old rubber or cloth-covered cable is replaced circuit by circuit, and we can stage the rewire to suit your budget.
Often, but it needs strata approval and enough spare capacity. Allawah averages 1.3 vehicles per dwelling, and many residents park in shared basements or garages beneath walk-ups. We check the load on the building supply, work out the best circuit route to your space and give the owners corporation the details they need to approve it before we fit the charger.
We install ceiling fans and the dedicated circuits needed for split-system air conditioners. In older Allawah walk-ups the lot board may need an upgrade first, because original boards were never sized for today’s cooling loads. We check capacity, recommend fan positions that suit the room layout and make sure the new work is RCD protected.
We do. The strip beside the station includes a newsagent, grocer, takeaway food shops and a hairdresser, each with its own mix of refrigeration, cooking and lighting loads. We add dedicated circuits, replace worn fittings, sort signage wiring and trace nuisance tripping. Where possible we work around trading hours so the counter stays open.
Yes. Many Allawah houses and older units still have boards with only one safety switch, or none. If we replace or alter your board, AS/NZS 3000 requires RCD protection on the final subcircuits, and Type AC devices have not been allowed in new work since 1 May 2023. We fit safety switches of Type A or better and label every circuit.
We service all of Allawah 2218, including Railway Parade and the station precinct, Lancelot Street, Blakesley Road, St Georges Parade, George Street, Meade Park and PJ Ferry Reserve. We also work daily in Carlton, Hurstville, Bexley, South Hurstville, Carss Park, Blakehurst, Kogarah, Kogarah Bay and the rest of the Georges River area.
