Connells Point is a peninsula of detached family homes. The 2021 Census counted 90.5 per cent separate houses, against 65.6 per cent across NSW, and 59.8 per cent of dwellings with four or more bedrooms. Nearly half of households, 47.9 per cent, own outright, so many families have held the same waterfront or hillside block for decades while the wiring aged underneath. We handle rewiring for older homes, board upgrades before major renovations, and outdoor circuits for decks, pools and garden lighting facing Connells Bay.

Connells Point has almost no commercial strip, so our non-domestic work is small in scale: clubrooms and shore facilities around Donnelly Park, sports lighting questions near Poulton Park, and the many home offices and consulting rooms run from large houses. For those we add data cabling, dedicated circuits and tidy switchgear.

Connells Point receives same-day service right across the peninsula, from the Connells Point Road entry down to the water. Urgent calls we see here: a storm soaking an outdoor light on a bay-facing deck, a pool pump circuit tripping the house, or an ageing ceramic fuse finally giving out.
Our Connells Point clients are mostly long-term owners. The median resident age is 43, more than half the households are couples with children, and only 10.4 per cent of dwellings are rented, so people here renovate rather than move. Typical work includes rewiring kitchens during a remodel, moving the board out of a cramped laundry, adding outside power for entertaining areas and lighting steep driveways and stairs that drop toward the bay. As your Connells Point electrician, we plan each job around the slope and the view.
Salt air off Connells Bay and Oatley Bay is hard on exposed fittings, so we choose marine-grade outdoor gear where the house faces the water. Upgrading to modern safety switches is another frequent request once a family learns the old board has none. For sudden faults, our urgent electrical team is on the road across St George and Canterbury-Bankstown, and the peninsula is a short trip down from Hurstville.

Separate houses make up 90.5 per cent of Connells Point dwellings, most with four bedrooms or more. When renovations stretch an older board, we split out new lines for kitchens, split systems and studies.
Homes above Connells Bay and Oatley Bay take salt air and wind. We fit weatherproof outlets, marine-grade outdoor lighting and properly sealed junctions for decks, boatsheds, pools and garden paths.
With 47.9 per cent of homes owned outright, plenty of boards and cable runs date back decades. We test insulation, replace ceramic fuses and add RCD protection across every final subcircuit.
Exposed headlands catch the full force of southerly storms. We trace water-damaged outdoor fittings, dry out tripping circuits and relocate vulnerable fittings to sheltered walls where possible.

We have spent plenty of time in Connells Point’s split-level houses on sloping blocks, where boards sit under stairs and cable runs through subfloors that step down toward the Georges River.

Nothing starts until you hold a written fixed figure. A single-storey home on Queens Road and a three-level waterfront house off Loch Maree Crescent are priced from what we see on site.

If a storm knocks out the lights on your Connells Point deck or the board starts buzzing, call early and we will reshuffle the day to get a van to the peninsula.

Among our 250+ customers are Connells Point families who found us through the school gate, the sailing club or a neighbour whose fuse board we replaced last year.

Each circuit we wire into a Connells Point home stays guaranteed for life on labour, outdoor lighting exposed to salt spray from Connells Bay and Oatley Bay included.

Book by phone or online and tell us whether the house sits above or below the street. Steep Connells Point driveways affect where the van can safely park.

After a walk through the rooms, the board and the outside circuits, we email a written fixed price with each item explained in everyday language.

We arrive within the window promised. Connells Point Road is the only way in, so if school traffic near the public school delays us, we ring ahead.

We cover floors on the way to the board, take every offcut and old fitting away, test the work, and hand you the compliance certificate before leaving.

Spyro opened for business in 2017, and today five-plus licensed electricians carry his name around St George. Connells Point suits the way we like to work. Owners here plan carefully, often renovate big family homes in stages, and want someone who will explain what the old wiring is doing before any walls open. We give straight advice, stick to the agreed price, and come back if anything we installed ever needs attention.

Connells Point is ringed by Connells Bay, Oatley Bay and the Georges River, and 90.5 per cent of its homes are detached houses with room for decks, pools and gardens. That combination makes weather-resistant outdoor electrical work one of the most useful upgrades on the peninsula.

A compliance certificate (CCEW) goes to the regulator after each Connells Point visit, and a copy comes to you. Many homes on the peninsula still have older boards and cable, so when we connect into those runs we test them and note anything unsafe in writing. A new or altered switchboard gets RCD protection across its final subcircuits under AS/NZS 3000, while Type AC units stay out of it, as NSW has barred them from fresh installations from 1 May 2023.
Peninsula jobs get a single agreed number on paper ahead of any drilling. Connells Point homes vary too much for phone estimates: adding a circuit in a flat single-storey house on Queens Road may take a morning, while running power down three levels to a waterside deck off Loch Maree Crescent involves subfloor access and weatherproofing. We inspect first, then commit to the price.
Old fuse board, outdoor lights failing in the salt air, or a renovation needing more circuits? Ring 02 8999 3691. We will walk through your Connells Point home, put a firm number in writing and back that labour for as long as the wiring stands.
Connells Point homeowners, renovators and families with bay-facing decks ask us these questions most often. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Frequently. Bookings run from 7am until 5:30pm Monday to Friday and from 7am until 2pm Saturday; Sunday we rest. The peninsula is a short drive from Hurstville and South Hurstville, where our vans pass daily. Ring before mid-morning for the best shot at an afternoon slot, and anything unsafe, like a smoking outlet or a board that will not reset, jumps the queue.
We give a fixed written price after seeing the job, never a phone guess. Homes on the peninsula range from level single-storey houses to multi-level waterfront builds, and access alone can change the effort involved. Once we have inspected, the figure we write down is the one you pay unless you ask for extra work, which we would price separately first.
It is worth doing. Almost half of Connells Point homes are owned outright, and long ownership often means the board and cable have never been reviewed. We look for ceramic fuses, missing earths, brittle insulation and circuits with no safety switch, then report which parts are sound and which need replacing. You can stage the upgrade over time if that suits the budget.
Yes. Houses facing Connells Bay, Oatley Bay or the main river catch salty wind, and ordinary outdoor fittings corrode, discolour and eventually let water in. That shows up as tripping safety switches after rain. We replace failing fittings with marine-grade or stainless options, seal junction boxes properly and reposition outdoor outlets where they are less exposed.
We can. Detached houses make up 90.5 per cent of the suburb, and many have space for a pool or spa. We run a dedicated circuit from the board with its own RCD, install weatherproof isolators for the pump, heater and chlorinator, and bond the equipment as the standards require. We coordinate with your pool builder so the supply is ready when the equipment arrives.
As early as possible. Many Connells Point renovations add a bigger kitchen, extra bathrooms or a new upper level, and each of those can outgrow an older board. Getting us in at the planning stage lets us size the switchboard upgrade, mark cable paths before plasterboard goes up, and avoid paying twice for rough-in work.
Usually. The Census recorded 2.2 vehicles per dwelling here and most homes have a garage or carport. On steep sites the main task is getting cable from the board to the parking area neatly, sometimes through a subfloor. We check spare capacity first, then install a dedicated circuit and charger at a height that suits the car.
Yes, and it is one of the most practical jobs on the peninsula. Many homes step down toward the water, leaving long driveways or garden stairs in darkness. We fit low-glare step lights, sensor floodlights and LED lighting under eaves, all on circuits you can control from inside or by timer.
First check whether neighbours along Connells Point Road have also lost power; if the whole street is dark, report it to Ausgrid on 13 13 88. If it is only your home or one circuit, switch off the affected circuit and do not keep resetting a tripping safety switch, because water in an outdoor fitting is a common cause on this exposed peninsula. Then call us and we will trace the wet fitting.
