Avalon homes are mostly big freestanding places. The 2021 Census recorded 81.2 per cent separate houses, well above the 65.6 per cent New South Wales figure, and 47.4 per cent with four or more bedrooms. Much of the peninsula was carved up after the 1921 subdivision, so 1920s cottages stand beside the 1950 Ruskin Rowe estate and newer rebuilds. We replace tired switchboards, extend circuits into converted garages and studios, and fit garden, deck and pool lighting that copes with salt air off Bangalley Head.

The shopping strip here sits right behind the sand, with cafes, a cinema, a hardware store, restaurants, an RSL club and small offices packed together. We add circuits for kitchen gear, fit LED shop lighting, test emergency exits and handle shop and office electrical work early in the morning so doors open on time.

Same-day service reaches Avalon from the rock pool end to Careel Bay. Typical urgent calls on this peninsula: a salt-corroded outdoor outlet tripping the whole house, lights dead after a southerly storm pushes water into a deck junction box, or a pool pump circuit scorching at the board.
Families make up a big share of our Avalon work. Almost half the local families are couples with kids, and houses average 3.4 bedrooms, so requests run to extra power for rumpus rooms, split system circuits, pool equipment and car chargers for households that own around two vehicles each. We also rewire weatherboard cottages from the 1920s, where brittle cable hides above timber ceilings. As your Avalon electrician we keep coastal wear in mind every visit.
On the commercial side, cafe owners and shopkeepers behind the beach call for upgraded lighting and more capacity for espresso machines and refrigeration. Homes tucked into bushland around Ruskin Rowe and the Bangalley Headland walk bring their own jobs, from swapping old halogen downlights to sealed outdoor fittings. When a fault cannot wait, our urgent response crew heads up the peninsula, and we cover the rest of the Northern Beaches too.

Nearly half the dwellings in Avalon have four bedrooms or more. We add circuits for home offices, rumpus rooms and extra split systems so a big house stops overloading one tired board.
Salt carried in from the Tasman eats into external outlets, sensor lights and meter enclosures. We replace rusted gear with marine-suitable, weatherproof fittings and reseal entry points that let moisture reach live terminals.
Homes from the 1921 subdivision, plus listed places like Loggan Rock on Whale Beach Road, often carry decades of patched wiring. We rewire older houses carefully and respect original stone and timber.
Cafes, restaurants, homewares shops and the cinema line the centre just across the road from the sand. We maintain lighting, add dedicated appliance circuits and test exit signs outside trading hours.

Our licensed people have crawled through Avalon roof spaces from 1920s holiday cottages to recent two-storey rebuilds, and knows how sea spray and humidity punish exposed terminals and outdoor fittings.

Before any work begins you hold a written figure. A pool circuit in a Careel Bay backyard and a new board in a Plateau Road weatherboard each get their own costed plan.

Storm damage along the headlands or a house tripping repeatedly after heavy rain is treated as urgent, and we reshuffle the day to reach Avalon quickly.

More than 250 customers have rated us, and plenty of our peninsula jobs come through surf club friends, school parents at Avalon Public and neighbours on the same street.

Labour on every job in 2107 carries a guarantee that never expires, which matters on the coast where cheap fittings fail early and shoddy joins corrode.

Ring or book online and mention your street. Many Avalon blocks slope steeply toward Pittwater or the ocean, so tell us about stairs, driveways and where the van can pull in.

We inspect the board, roof space and any outdoor runs, talk through options in plain English, then email one fixed figure that stays put unless you add work.

Summer traffic on the peninsula road can crawl, so we allow for it and arrive within the window booked. If something delays us, you hear from us first.

Sand and leaf litter stay outside, offcuts go in our bin, and you receive your compliance certificate along with photos of the finished board or fittings.

Spyro opened for business in 2017; these days over five licensed sparkies carry his name up the coast. The upper peninsula has become a steady part of our schedule, mainly because Avalon homes combine large floor plans, coastal exposure and plenty of original wiring. We handle board swaps, rewires, pool and garden lighting, EV chargers and shop maintenance on the strip, and the same electrician usually follows a job through from first look to handover.

Avalon households average 2.1 motor vehicles per dwelling, and 81.2 per cent of homes are separate houses, so most have a driveway or garage wall ready for a wallbox. The peninsula is a long drive from the city, so plenty of owners want to top up at home overnight.

Every Avalon visit ends with our CCEW paperwork lodged, which NSW law demands. Coastal houses here often hide corroded joins and old rubber cable behind 1920s timber linings, and anything we open up gets tested. Touching a board triggers the AS/NZS 3000 rule that every final subcircuit sits behind an RCD, and the 1 May 2023 ban on Type AC units in fresh installations means we fit Type A or better.
Our quotes are one written number, fixed before any tools come out. Guessing over the phone makes little sense in Avalon: replacing lights in a recent unit near the shops is a quick job, while doing the same in a split-level house on a steep Careel Bay block may mean crawling under floors and tracing cable through sandstone footings. We look first, then commit to the figure.
Corroded outdoor power by the beach, a pool pump tripping the board, or a Plateau Road cottage overdue for a rewire? Phone 02 8999 3691 to book a licensed electrician, get a written fixed price after inspection, and keep a lifetime guarantee on the labour.
Avalon families, beachside shop owners and owners of older peninsula cottages send us these questions most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Most days, yes. Vans roll out 7am to 5:30pm on weekdays and 7am to 2pm Saturday; Sunday is our day off. Avalon sits near the top of the peninsula, so ringing 02 8999 3691 in the morning gives us the best chance to fit you in. A hot smell at the board, arcing sockets or a main switch refusing to reset jump ahead of routine bookings.
We do not publish rates, because Avalon jobs vary so much. Adding a power point in a newer apartment near the shopping strip is simple; the same request in a sloping bushland house off Plateau Road can involve tight subfloors and long cable runs. Once we have seen the site, the fixed figure lands in your inbox and holds unless you add to the scope.
Salt settles on outdoor outlets, sensor lights, pool equipment and meter boxes, then draws in moisture. Over time that corrodes terminals and lets current leak to earth, which trips safety switches or causes intermittent power loss. Homes close to the ocean or around the headlands see it most. We replace failing fittings with weatherproof, corrosion-resistant ones and seal cable entries so water cannot track inside.
Quite possibly. Many Avalon homes date from the subdivision that began in 1921, and the original rubber-insulated cable becomes brittle with age. Later owners often added circuits piecemeal. We test insulation resistance, check earthing and inspect the board, then tell you which circuits are sound and which need replacing. A staged rewire can spread the work out while keeping the house safe.
Yes. The Ruskin Rowe estate, created in 1950, is heritage listed partly for the bushland it preserves, and places like Loggan Rock and the Walter Burley Griffin Lodge on Plateau Road are listed individually. Internal wiring upgrades are usually straightforward. We take extra care with external conduit, meter positions and outdoor lighting so the character is kept, and we suggest checking with Northern Beaches Council about any approvals.
Avalon mixes coastal exposure with bushland reserves, so storms and ember risk both matter. We check that outdoor cabling is enclosed, junction boxes are sealed, and that surge protection is fitted at the board for lightning. Keeping gutters clear of cables and making sure the main switch is easy to find also helps. If trees bring down a line in the street, stay well clear and ring Ausgrid on 13 13 88.
We can. Pools are common in the larger Avalon backyards, and each pump, heater and chlorinator should sit on a protected circuit with weatherproof isolation. We also install deck and garden lighting, outdoor power for barbecues, and ceiling fans for covered patios. Everything outside is chosen with the salt air in mind, so it lasts longer than standard indoor-rated gear.
Yes. The commercial centre sits right behind the beach, with cafes, restaurants, a cinema, a hardware store, clothing and homewares shops and the RSL club. We add circuits for commercial kitchen equipment, fit efficient shop lighting, maintain exit and emergency lights, and schedule disruptive work before opening so trading is not interrupted.
Every member of our team is a licensed, insured electrician. Since Spyro began trading in 2017, the crew has grown past five, all qualified and covered. You get a compliance certificate for every job, and the labour is covered by a lifetime guarantee, so if something we installed in your Avalon home fails because of our workmanship, we come back and fix it.
We cover all of Avalon Beach 2107, including Careel Bay, Careel Head, Bangalley Head, the Ruskin Rowe estate, Plateau Road, Whale Beach Road, Marine Parade and the streets around Barrenjoey High School and Avalon Public School. We also work regularly in Clareville, Whale Beach, Bilgola, Palm Beach, Newport, Church Point, Bayview and Mona Vale.
