Dee Why is the apartment capital of the peninsula. The 2021 Census found 81.9 per cent of dwellings were flats, nearly four times the NSW share of 21.7, while separate houses made up just 15.3 per cent. Two-bedroom units dominate at 56.7 per cent. Blocks range from older walk-ups to 4 to 10 storey towers along Pittwater Road, so we fix unit boards, add power to cramped kitchens, swap tired fittings for LED downlights and trace faults for owners and tenants.

Dee Why is the Northern Beaches Council seat and a busy commercial strip. Pittwater Road carries 1960s shop-top buildings, newer mixed-use towers and offices, and The Strand faces the sand with cafes, restaurants and bars. We deliver shop and office fit-outs, kitchen circuits, exit lighting and ongoing maintenance for tenants and building managers.

Our same-day service covers Dee Why from Victor Road through to the beachfront and around the lagoon. Urgent calls here are usually a unit with no power while the rest of the floor is fine, a restaurant losing its cool room on The Strand, or a common-area light circuit failing in a stairwell.
Close to half of Dee Why homes, 47.3 per cent at the 2021 Census, are rented, so property managers and landlords make up a large share of our calls. They need alarms brought into line between leases, rangehoods and ovens reconnected, and switchboard faults sorted before a new tenant moves in. As your Dee Why electrician we also work for owner-occupiers renovating two-bedroom units and for strata committees looking after car park and foyer lighting.
The commercial side keeps us equally busy. Cafes on The Strand, offices above Pittwater Road and retailers near Howard Avenue call us for new circuits, signage power and fit-out wiring. If a shop goes dark before opening or a unit loses power, our urgent electrical repairs crew comes from the same base that covers Collaroy, Brookvale and the rest of the Northern Beaches.

Two-bedroom units make up 56.7 per cent of Dee Why dwellings. We fix faults on unit boards, add power points in tight kitchens and advise strata when the problem sits on common property.
Older shop-top buildings along Pittwater Road combine ground-floor shops with offices or flats above. We separate tenancy supplies, upgrade old boards and install new circuits for changing uses.
Buildings such as Dee Why Grand, completed in 2010 with 170 apartments and offices, have large shared meter rooms. We coordinate shutdowns with building managers and work on tenancy boards safely.
Apartments and cafes on The Strand face the ocean and salt spray. We replace corroded outdoor fittings, test RCDs and upgrade outdoor lighting on balconies and terraces with sealed coastal-grade products.

Between them, our licensed electricians have opened meter rooms and risers in Dee Why blocks of every age, from older walk-ups to the newer 4 to 10 storey towers along Pittwater Road.

A studio near the lagoon and a cafe on The Strand get separate written quotes. We see the job first, then lock in one price so the bill contains no surprises.

If a Dee Why unit, shop or office suddenly loses power, we move that job ahead of planned work and send the closest available electrician from our Northern Beaches run.

Plenty of our 250+ customers are Dee Why landlords, strata managers and small business owners who came to us through recommendations from tenants and nearby traders.

Every circuit we install in a Dee Why unit, townhouse or shopfront has a lifetime guarantee on labour, including wiring hidden inside strata walls and ceilings.

Let us know about building access, intercom codes, visitor parking or loading zones. We then arrange a time that works for tenants, strata rules or your business hours.

Once the board and cable paths have been checked, you hear in plain terms what the job involves. A written figure follows, fixed, and nothing starts until you accept it.

Parking near The Strand and Pittwater Road can be tight, so we plan ahead and arrive during the agreed window. If B-Line traffic slows us down, we phone to update you.

We protect floors in shared hallways and lifts, remove all waste and leave the job tidy. You get the compliance certificate plus a short written summary of the work.

Back in 2017 Spyro registered the business; the crew now counts five-plus licensed electricians. Dee Why keeps us busier than almost anywhere on the peninsula, with landlord repair lists, cafe kitchens on The Strand and common-area lighting for strata buildings all in the same week. Wherever we can, one electrician carries a Dee Why job from the first visit to the final sign-off, so you are not repeating yourself to a new face.

At the 2021 Census, 47.3 per cent of Dee Why homes were rented, well above the NSW figure of 32.6 per cent. With so many units changing tenants each year, keeping smoke alarms compliant is one of the most common services we provide here.

Under NSW law a CCEW has to follow each job, so every Dee Why unit, shop and office we work in gets one lodged. Blocks along Pittwater Road have often been rewired piecemeal over the decades, and whatever old cable we disturb is either brought up to standard or listed for the owner. Work on a unit board brings in AS/NZS 3000 residual current protection for final subcircuits, and from 1 May 2023 Type AC switches are off the table for fresh installations.
Nothing is billed that was not first written down as one set figure. Over the phone, Dee Why jobs are easy to misjudge: swapping a fitting in a recent unit near Howard Avenue can take minutes, yet feeding new circuits through an old Pittwater Road shop-top block may mean fire-rated penetrations, buried cable paths and a strata sign-off. Seeing it in person lets us name the price and hold it.
A unit fault, rental alarms falling due, or a Strand cafe fit-out that needs wiring before opening day? Ring 02 8999 3691. We will come and inspect, hand you one written figure, and the labour on it stays guaranteed for life.
These are the questions Dee Why tenants, landlords, strata managers and business owners ask us most often. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Frequently. Weekday visits start at 7am and wrap at 5:30pm, Saturday ones run 7am until 2pm, and Dee Why sits in the middle of the routes we run along the beaches. The earlier you ring, the better the chance of a visit that day. Visible smoke, scorching, or a main breaker that snaps off every time you lift it gets handled before routine work.
We need to see the job first. A simple change in a newer apartment is quick, while an older shop-top building on Pittwater Road can hide awkward cable paths and need strata approval before we start. Following the inspection you are handed one written figure, and it holds unless you choose to add tasks.
Check your unit’s board first and see whether a safety switch has tripped. If it trips again when you reset it, leave it off and call us. Do not keep resetting it. We trace the fault circuit by circuit, whether it is a faulty appliance, a damaged power point or a failing board, and explain whether the issue sits in your unit or with strata.
It depends on where the fault is. Wiring from your unit’s own board into your rooms is usually the owner’s responsibility, while main boards, risers, lifts, car park lighting and common areas are generally strata property. We trace the fault first and provide a written report so everyone knows who is responsible.
Landlords in 2099 juggle four duties. Each level of the unit or townhouse must carry an alarm that actually sounds. A fault the tenant flags has to be fixed inside two business days. Anything stamped more than a decade ago comes out. And mains-powered alarms may only be fitted by someone holding an electrical licence. Between leases we test, swap and date-stamp alarms, then email the report to your agent.
Often, yes, but it depends on the building. Most Dee Why homes are apartments, so charging usually requires strata approval and enough spare capacity in the building’s supply. We assess the switchboard and cable routes, then work with the strata committee to plan the safest installation. Chargers cannot be installed on public streets or footpaths.
Yes. Cafes and restaurants facing Dee Why Beach often need extra circuits for coffee machines, ovens, dishwashers and refrigeration. We plan the layout, install lighting, emergency and exit lights and schedule noisy work outside trading hours so the business can keep operating.
Yes. Offices above Pittwater Road and inside the mixed-use towers often need new power and data cabling each time a team grows or a layout changes. We add outlets along partitions, cable desks and meeting rooms back to the rack, and label each point clearly so later moves do not mean lifting ceiling tiles again.
Yes. Many older units still have single ceiling lights or outdated fittings. We replace them with energy-efficient LEDs, add dimmers where suitable and fit ceiling fans in bedrooms and living areas. Before starting, we check ceiling access and strata rules for any limits on changes.
Every corner of Dee Why 2099 is on our list, including The Strand, Pittwater Road, Howard Avenue, Oaks Avenue, Fisher Road, Victor Road and the streets around Dee Why Lagoon, Ted Jackson Reserve and Stony Range Botanic Garden. We also regularly work in Narraweena, Collaroy, Cromer, Curl Curl, Brookvale, Beacon Hill and Narrabeen.
