Own a terrace on High Street or Argyle Place, run a pub near Observatory Hill, or live on the Balmain East shore facing Me-Mel? Our Goat Island area specials also stretch to Bettington Street and Barangaroo. Mention the deal when booking and we deduct it.

Goat Island has no private housing. It is a 5.4 hectare heritage island in Sydney Harbour National Park, so the homes we serve under this name sit on the facing shores. Across the water in Millers Point, heritage-listed rows include Undercliffe Terrace on Argyle Place and the High Street terraces, and since 2008 governments have moved to lease or sell many public housing homes there. We handle heritage rewiring, board changes and renovation circuits for those homes and for Balmain East residents.

The island’s own buildings are managed by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, and conservation work there is arranged through that agency. Our commercial calls come from the heritage pubs, galleries and offices of Millers Point and The Rocks, where we look after lighting, kitchen circuits and general commercial maintenance.

The Millers Point and Balmain East shorelines facing Goat Island get our same-day service. Common urgent calls: a colonial-era terrace losing power after heavy rain, a pub kitchen circuit failing mid-shift, or a burning smell from an old fuse board behind a sandstone wall.
Goat Island, known in Dharug as Me-Mel, meaning the eye, is one of the most historic places on the harbour. Convicts quarried it from 1831, and its Queen’s Magazine was finished in 1839. Today it belongs to Sydney Harbour National Park and can only be visited on guided tours. Any wiring on the island is a matter for its managers, so we do not claim that work. We serve as the harbourside electrician for the homes and businesses on the shores looking out at it.
Those clients are mostly Millers Point terrace owners, publicans around Argyle Place and residents in Balmain East. Jobs include switchboard upgrades in narrow heritage hallways, safe new circuits for kitchen renovations, and fault finding in buildings where old and new wiring meet. For a dangerous fault, our emergency electricians come the same day, as they do throughout the City of Sydney.

Terraces on High Street, Argyle Place and Bettington Street are heritage listed. We rewire them carefully, protecting original plaster and joinery and keeping new fittings off street facades.
Since 2008, plans to sell or lease government-owned Millers Point homes have put many into private hands. Incoming owners often need full rewires, board upgrades and new circuits as part of restoration work.
Listed hotels such as the Palisade on Bettington Street and the Shipwrights Arms Inn trade from old buildings. We upgrade kitchen and bar circuits and replace tired lighting.
For landlords of terraces and flats near the harbour, we replace expired smoke alarms, make sure each level has one working, and leave dated records for agents.

The old terraces of Millers Point are well known to our licensed crew, where thick sandstone walls and tight roof spaces make every cable run a careful job.

Every quote near Goat Island is a fixed written figure given after inspection, because a High Street terrace and a Balmain East flat need very different amounts of work.

A power cut in an old Argyle Place terrace or a failed kitchen circuit in a heritage pub moves to the front of our list so you are not left waiting.

Our 250+ customers include Millers Point owners, harbourside publicans and Balmain East residents, many of whom heard about us through neighbours on the same street.

We guarantee our labour for life on every job around the harbour shore facing Goat Island, including rewires hidden behind original plaster and sandstone.

Let us know your address and any access quirks, such as steep stairs, narrow lanes or heritage restrictions. We then offer a booking time that fits your schedule.

Our electrician inspects the wiring and board, explains what was found, and sends a fixed written quote so you can decide with all the facts in hand.

Parking around Observatory Hill and Argyle Place is limited, so we plan our stop in advance and arrive in the agreed window, calling if anything changes.

Floors and stairs are covered while we work, rubbish leaves with us, and you get the compliance certificate plus a short note describing the changes made.

The company began with Spyro in 2017 and today fields five-plus licensed electricians. The harbour shores around Goat Island ask for experience with old buildings: sandstone walls, listed terraces and heritage pubs that have been rewired piece by piece over many decades. We take the time to trace circuits properly, protect original fabric and leave clear records for owners.

Millers Point, directly across the water from Goat Island, is packed with heritage-listed terraces and cottages such as Undercliffe Terrace on Argyle Place. Since 2008 governments have moved to sell or lease many of them, and rewiring them safely is the job new owners ask us about most.

Paperwork matters on these old shores: our Goat Island area jobs each close out with a lodged CCEW. In the old Millers Point terraces across the water, any wiring we disturb is brought up to standard or recorded in writing. Touch the board and AS/NZS 3000 obliges residual current devices across its final subcircuits; Type AC models dropped out of permitted new work from 1 May 2023.
Around Goat Island the buildings differ too much for phone quotes. A lighting upgrade in a High Street terrace means working through thick masonry and old ceilings, while the same job in a heritage pub like the Palisade adds commercial loads and trading-hour limits. So we visit, measure up, and commit to a single written figure, altered only by extra work you request.
A fuse board in an Argyle Place terrace, a pub kitchen short on power, or a full rewire before restoring a Millers Point home? Call 02 8999 3691. We will inspect in person, hand over a fixed written quote, and stand behind the workmanship permanently.
Questions like these reach us from Millers Point owners, Balmain East households and harbourside operators. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Most days. The team works Monday to Friday 7am until 5:30pm and Saturday 7am until 2pm; Sunday is our day off. Millers Point and Balmain East are on our regular inner-city routes, so an early call to 02 8999 3691 generally means a visit the same day. Tell us about sparks or a burning smell so we can prioritise.
Not as a matter of course. Goat Island is part of Sydney Harbour National Park, managed by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, and it is undergoing a conservation program ahead of a planned transfer to Aboriginal ownership. Work on its heritage buildings is arranged by the agency. Our day-to-day work is for homes and businesses on the surrounding shores.
We inspect before quoting. The homes facing the island range from listed terraces with sandstone walls to modern apartments, and the time needed varies greatly. After seeing the job, we give you a written fixed price, and it only moves if you add work.
Start with a full electrical inspection. Many of these homes were rewired in parts over many decades, so we often find cloth-insulated cable, missing earths and boards with no RCDs. We test each circuit, prioritise what is unsafe, and plan a rewire that fits your restoration timeline and any heritage approvals you need.
They affect how it is done. Many Millers Point terraces are individually heritage listed, so external changes like meter boxes, conduits and outdoor lights need care and may need approval. Internal rewiring is usually fine, and we route cables through existing voids to protect original fabric. Check with the council or heritage adviser before external changes.
Yes. Pubs like the Palisade Hotel and the Shipwrights Arms Inn operate from old buildings with limited original supply. We add dedicated circuits for cooking equipment, refrigeration and bar appliances, replace lighting, and install exit and emergency lights, scheduling noisy work outside trading hours.
Landlords here must keep an operating alarm on each floor of a leased home. Once a tenant reports a dud, the clock allows two business days for repair; units past their tenth year since manufacture get swapped, and mains-wired types are licensed-electrician territory. We check, replace and interconnect alarms and give landlords dated records.
It can. Homes and businesses on the Millers Point and Balmain East foreshores are exposed to salt air, which corrodes outdoor lights and outlets faster than inland. We use fittings rated for outdoor and coastal exposure, seal cable entries, and check for corrosion on existing outdoor circuits.
Only if there is a private parking space. Most Millers Point terraces front the street with no off-street parking, and chargers cannot be installed on public footpaths. Where there is a garage or allocated space, we check the board’s capacity, run a dedicated circuit and install the charger.
We cover the 2000 postcode shores facing Goat Island, including Millers Point streets such as High Street, Argyle Place and Bettington Street, plus Balmain East across the water. We also work every day in Barangaroo, Dawes Point, The Rocks, Balmain, McMahons Point, Birchgrove and Pyrmont.
