Dural is semi-rural, straddling Hornsby Shire and The Hills Shire, and its housing is generous. The 2021 Census counted 80.3 per cent separate houses, 64.5 per cent of dwellings with four or more bedrooms and an average of 3.9 bedrooms, while 44.2 per cent of homes are owned outright. Long driveways, detached garages, workshops and outbuildings mean we often run new sub-circuits and underground feeds, add security floodlights and replace tired boards on houses that have been extended over decades.

Trade clusters around the Round Corner shops on Kenthurst Road and along Old Northern Road, with sporting clubs, private schools such as Redfield College and Pacific Hills Christian School, and a bus depot on New Line Road nearby. We install lighting, add circuits and provide commercial electrical maintenance for shops, clubs and small workplaces.

Dural properties get same-day service from us, even at the long-driveway end of Quarry Road. Urgent faults we see here include an outbuilding feed failing after a storm, a garage workshop tripping the house, and scorched cable where a big older home has outgrown its board.
Dural clients tend to be settled owners: the median age is 45, and more than eight in ten homes are owned outright or with a mortgage. They call us as their Dural electrician for power out to sheds and studios, gate and driveway lighting, backup circuits for workshops and switchboard replacements on homes that have been added to more than once. Managers make up 21 per cent of working locals, so home offices with solid power and data are common requests.
The suburb has deep history. Old Northern Road was built by convicts between 1825 and 1836, and St Jude’s sandstone chapel dates from about 1846. Newer family homes sit near Round Corner, while quieter lanes keep a country feel. If lights fail across the property and the main switch will not hold, book an emergency callout and we will head out from our regular work across the Hills District.

Semi-rural Dural blocks often carry detached garages, studios and machinery sheds. We size underground sub-mains properly, fit a local board at the outbuilding and protect every circuit with RCDs.
With 64.5 per cent of Dural dwellings holding four or more bedrooms, many houses have grown in stages. We untangle old add-on wiring, rebalance circuits and replace boards that no longer cope.
Tall trees and open ground leave gate motors, driveway lights and garden fittings exposed to storms. We use sealed fittings, protected cable and separate outdoor circuits so one fault stays contained.
The Round Corner shops and local sporting clubs need lighting and power that keeps working. We fit efficient lighting, add equipment circuits and schedule works around trading and game days.

Dural outbuildings, underground feeds and large extended homes are routine for our licensed team, so long cable runs across a semi-rural block are familiar ground for us.

A Kenthurst Road house with a detached workshop and a Round Corner townhouse each get their own written fixed figure, worked out after we walk the property with you.

On a Dural block a dead supply can knock out the house, the shed and the gate at once, so we aim to have an electrician with you that same day.

Our 250+ customers include Dural owners who have lived on the same block for years, and plenty found us through a neighbour down the road or a sporting club contact.

Every circuit we run on a Dural property, from the main house to the furthest shed, carries our lifetime labour guarantee against faulty workmanship.

Tell us where on the block the problem is and whether there is a locked gate or dogs to allow for. We pick an arrival time that suits the household.

First we open the board, follow where supply travels to outbuildings, then explain the job in plain terms. The written fixed price reaches you before anything is started.

Dural distances are longer, so we plan the day around your slot and allow for Old Northern Road traffic. If something holds us up, we phone before the window passes.

Trenches are backfilled, offcuts collected, and floors inside cleaned up. Every circuit we touched is tested, and the compliance certificate plus a summary of the work comes to you.

Spyro here. If the shed at the bottom of your Dural block has lost power, or your board looks older than the house extensions, ring 02 8999 3691 so I can line up a visit.

Dural is a semi-rural suburb where 80.3 per cent of dwellings are separate houses and homes average 3.9 bedrooms, so many blocks also carry garages, studios and workshops. Getting safe, adequate power out to those buildings is one of the jobs we quote most here.

Dural owners get a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work each time we finish, showing the job was tested to NSW requirements. Properties with several outbuildings often have undocumented cables running between them, so anything unsafe we find is either fixed or recorded for you. If we swap or modify the main board, the wiring standard has us place RCDs across the final subcircuits, choosing Type A or better because Type AC left new work on 1 May 2023.
We set one fixed price in writing after seeing the site. Dural shows why: swapping lights in a townhouse near Round Corner is a quick visit, while powering a workshop at the far end of a semi-rural block may involve trenching, a sub-main and a second board. We walk the property, explain what is needed and commit to that number.
Shed without power, a board struggling with years of house extensions or a Round Corner shop needing new lighting? Ring 02 8999 3691 to have someone walk the block, name a set price on paper and stand behind that labour permanently.
Questions we are asked most by Dural homeowners, acreage families and local business owners. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Usually. Crews run 7am until 5:30pm through the week and 7am until 2pm Saturday, and 2158 is part of our regular Hills route. Call 02 8999 3691 early and we can often reach you before the end of the day. If you can smell burning, see sparks or the main switch keeps dropping out, we treat it as urgent.
Only after we have seen the site. Distance matters here: a light fitting in a townhouse is quick, but running power to a workshop across a large block can need trenching, heavier cable and a separate board. We walk the property with you, explain the options and send one fixed written price that changes only if you ask for more.
Yes, it is one of our most common Dural requests. We size the underground cable for the distance and load, lay it in conduit at the correct depth, and install a small board at the outbuilding with its own RCD protection. You end up with lights, outlets and, if needed, supply for heavier tools or equipment.
It is worth it. Many Dural homes have grown in stages, and each addition may have been wired by a different contractor, sometimes onto an original board never meant for the extra load. We test each circuit, find joins and add-ons that are not up to standard and give you a prioritised list, so you can fix the urgent items first.
Tall trees and open ground expose outdoor fittings to wind, rain and falling branches. We replace damaged lights with sealed fittings, run cable in protective conduit, and put outdoor circuits, gate motors and garden lighting on separate RCD-protected circuits so a wet fitting does not shut down the house.
Very often. Dural averages 2.4 vehicles per dwelling, and most homes are separate houses with room for a garage charger. Our first step is a load check on the existing board; after that a dedicated line goes to the parking bay and the wallbox is fixed in place. For a detached garage we can include the sub-main in the same quote.
St Jude’s Church, a sandstone chapel from about 1846, is listed on the Register of the National Estate, but ordinary homes nearby are generally treated like any other house. If your own property has a heritage listing, check with Hornsby Shire or The Hills Shire before external changes. We keep new meter boxes and lights discreet where appearance matters.
Yes. For shops near Round Corner, sporting clubs and small workplaces we fit lighting, add equipment circuits, install exit and emergency lighting and handle ongoing maintenance. We schedule disruptive work outside trading or game times, so customers and players are not left in the dark.
Every electrician we send holds a NSW licence, and the business is fully insured. Spyro started it in 2017, and we have since completed 7,000+ projects for more than 250 customers. You get a compliance certificate for every job, and our labour carries a lifetime guarantee, so if our workmanship fails we return to fix it.
