Planning work on a split-level home off Rembrandt Drive, a waterfront house on The Quarterdeck or a family place near Covelee Circuit? Middle Cove specials also stretch to Lincoln Avenue and the Eastern Valley Way shops. Mention this line when booking and we credit it.

Middle Cove is almost entirely detached housing: 96.9 per cent separate houses at the 2021 Census, against 65.6 per cent across NSW, and 56.6 per cent of homes have four or more bedrooms. Most were built in the 1960s and 1970s after the Harbour Heights subdivision, many stepped down sandstone slopes toward Middle Harbour. That era brings original boards, long cable runs to lower levels, and garden, deck and whole-home rewiring jobs as owners renovate.

Commercial activity here is limited to the small shopping centre on Eastern Valley Way, with Chatswood close by for larger retail. For the shops, consulting rooms and home-based practices in the suburb we handle shop maintenance, signage and lighting circuits, and extra power for studios set up in lower-level rooms.

Our same-day service covers every Middle Cove street, from Eastern Valley Way down to the Sugarloaf Bay slopes. Typical urgent calls: storm-felled branches damaging outdoor fittings, a 1960s board that burns out a fuse, or a lower-level circuit tripping after rain seeps into a garden light.
Middle Cove households mostly own their homes, with 48.1 per cent owned outright and 42.3 per cent on a mortgage in 2021, so our clients are long-term owners planning upgrades rather than agents. Families adding a kitchen extension, retirees swapping a tired 1960s board, and architects renovating houses on steep blocks toward Sugarloaf Bay all call on us. We are the Middle Cove electrician that many of these households have used for more than one project.
The terrain shapes every job. Homes step down sandstone ledges, so power often has to reach a garage at street level and a pool or deck far below. Garden lighting along bushland edges, ceiling fans for split-level living rooms, EV charging in double garages and the odd urgent storm fault are normal work for us across the North Shore.

Most Middle Cove homes went up in the 1960s and 1970s. Their original boards often have rewireable fuses and no RCDs; we replace them with modern boards sized for induction cooking and air conditioning.
Houses step down toward Middle Harbour across several levels. We install sub-boards, run protected cable to lower rooms, decks and pool areas, and add lighting to steep outdoor stairs.
Harold Reid Reserve covers 37.7 hectares of steep bushland beside local streets. Falling branches damage outdoor fittings and cables, so we repair them and fit tougher weatherproof gear.
Some 56.6 per cent of homes have four or more bedrooms. We add circuits for home offices, garages and extensions, and plan extra outlets where families actually use their rooms.

Our licensed crew understands 1960s and 1970s Middle Cove homes, with their stepped floor levels, sub-boards in lower rooms and cable runs that snake through sandstone footings.

We visit, measure and then quote once, in writing. A four-bedroom split-level on Covelee Circuit and a single-storey house on Lincoln Avenue will not share the same price.

When a storm across Harold Reid Reserve brings down branches and knocks out power to your deck lights, we fit you in that day where we can.

Many of our 250+ customers are North Shore homeowners like those in Middle Cove, often referred by a neighbour after a renovation or board upgrade went smoothly.

Labour on every circuit we lay in a Middle Cove house is guaranteed for life, including cable run under decks, along retaining walls and down to lower garden terraces.

Give us your street and tell us about steep driveways, gates or dogs. We then arrange a time around school pick-ups, work hours or your builder’s schedule.

After walking the property, including lower levels and garden areas, we describe the job clearly and email a fixed written price before anything is started.

Driveways here are often steep and narrow, so we plan van parking on the street and arrive within the window agreed, calling ahead if Eastern Valley Way traffic slows us.

Floors, carpets and garden beds are protected, offcuts are removed, and your compliance certificate comes with a short note on which circuits we changed.

Local pockets we cover in Middle Cove

Spyro founded the business in 2017, and as our team grew to more than five licensed electricians, Middle Cove became a regular part of our North Shore work. Homes here are large, detached and often set on steep sandstone blocks, so jobs take planning. We like that kind of work, and one electrician normally stays with a Middle Cove project from the first site visit until the certificate is signed.

With 96.9 per cent of Middle Cove dwellings being separate houses, many on steep blocks falling to Middle Harbour, outdoor power is a bigger part of the job here than in most suburbs. Decks, pools, garden paths and garages all need safe, weatherproof supply.

Every job we complete in Middle Cove comes with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, as required in NSW. In houses from the 1960s and 1970s, older wiring we disturb is brought up to standard or listed in our report. Once a switchboard is altered, AS/NZS 3000 requires RCD protection across the final subcircuits, and Type AC units have been prohibited in new work since 1 May 2023.
We give you a fixed price in writing after looking over the property. That matters in Middle Cove, where a single-level home near Eastern Valley Way is simple to wire, while a three-level house dropping to Sugarloaf Bay may need sub-boards and long cable runs. Seeing it first means one clear number you can plan around.
Planning a renovation off Rembrandt Drive, upgrading a 1960s board, or lighting the steps down to your deck? Call 02 8999 3691 and a licensed electrician will visit your Middle Cove home, assess the work and send a fixed written quote, with labour guaranteed for life.
Middle Cove homeowners, renovating families and architects working in the suburb ask us these questions most often. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Quite often, yes. Our electricians work 7am until 5:30pm on weekdays and 7am until 2pm on Saturdays, and the Willoughby area is on our regular North Shore route. A morning phone call to 02 8999 3691 gives us the most room to slot you in. Scorch marks on an outlet or a main switch that drops straight back off should be mentioned first, because we treat those as urgent.
We quote a fixed figure after inspecting. In Middle Cove the layout of the house changes the effort a great deal: adding lights on one level is straightforward, but reaching a lower floor or pool on a steep block takes more time and materials. Once agreed, the price stays the same unless you ask for extra work.
It is usually worth it. Boards from that era often have rewireable fuses, little or no RCD protection and not enough room for modern loads like induction cooktops, ducted air and EV chargers. We test the existing circuits, tell you which are sound, and quote a new board that suits the house and any renovation you are planning.
Yes. Many Middle Cove homes step down toward Middle Harbour, and owners want power at the bottom of the block. We plan a protected cable route under decks or along retaining walls, often with a small sub-board at the lower level, and fit weatherproof outlets and lights suited to a damp, leafy setting.
Storms bring branches down across wires and fittings, leaves fill outdoor light housings, and moisture gets into ageing outlets. Harold Reid Reserve alone covers 37.7 hectares of steep bushland. We inspect outdoor circuits, replace damaged fittings with sealed ones and make sure every outdoor circuit has RCD protection. Anything involving fallen lines on the street goes to Ausgrid on 13 13 88, or 000 if there is danger.
Yes, and it is a common request here. The Census recorded two cars per Middle Cove dwelling, and most homes have a garage or carport. We assess spare capacity at the switchboard, run a dedicated circuit and install the charger. If the board is original, upgrading it at the same time usually makes sense.
Yes. Many Middle Cove renovations involve extensions, new kitchens or opening up split levels. We coordinate with your builder on rough-in and fit-off stages, plan LED downlights and power around the new layout, and supply the compliance certificate at completion. Early involvement helps avoid moving cables after walls are closed.
We do. Raked and high ceilings in 1960s and 1970s homes suit larger fans, and we mount them on proper supports with wall controls. Where roof access is limited, we plan the cable route before starting so we do not have to cut into finished ceilings more than necessary.
It is still worth doing. Rental rules only apply to 8.2 per cent of Middle Cove homes, but alarms older than ten years should be replaced in any house, and larger multi-level homes need enough alarms to cover each level and sleeping area. We can install interconnected hard-wired smoke alarms so an alarm on one level sounds throughout.
All of Middle Cove 2068, including Eastern Valley Way, Rembrandt Drive, Covelee Circuit, Lincoln Avenue, Greenfield Avenue, The Lee, The Quarterdeck, Highland Ridge Road, North Arm Road and the streets around Harold Reid Reserve. We also regularly work in Castle Cove, Castlecrag, North Willoughby, Chatswood, Willoughby, Northbridge and Seaforth.
