Lurnea began as a soldier settlement after World War I and was reshaped in the 1970s, so the housing is a patchwork. Census 2021 found 74.9 per cent separate houses and 21.7 per cent semi-detached or townhouses, close to double the NSW share, with only 2.9 per cent flats. Newer duplexes now sit beside older detached homes. We carry out rewiring, fuse board swaps, split metering fixes on duplexes and extra circuits for crowded family kitchens.

Business in Lurnea is neighbourhood scale: Lurnea Plaza on Hill Road, the shops along Hoxton Park Road, and three schools. We keep small retailers and takeaway kitchens running, replace tired shop lighting, install exit signs and handle commercial electrical maintenance, with larger commercial work a short drive away in the Liverpool CBD.

Lurnea gets our same-day service on any weekday or Saturday morning. The urgent faults we see most: one half of a duplex blacking out the other, an old fuse board overheating on a hot night, water in outdoor lights after a storm, and a Lurnea Plaza fridge circuit tripping.
Families are the heart of our Lurnea work. Households average 3.2 people, the median age is 32, and bigger households push older wiring hard. People ask us to replace fuse boards, add power to bedrooms turned into study spaces, and give air conditioners their own circuit. As a Lurnea electrician we also do a lot for landlords, since 41.6 per cent of dwellings are rented.
Duplex owners are the other big group. Semi-detached homes make up over a fifth of Lurnea, and when two dwellings share a block, faults can cross between them. We trace circuits, split metering where it has been mixed up, and label each board. When a fault cannot wait, our emergency electrical service comes from nearby Liverpool, part of our daily work across South-West Sydney.

Over 21 per cent of Lurnea dwellings are semi-detached. When circuits or meters get crossed between two homes, we trace every cable, separate the supplies properly and label each board so faults stay on one side.
Plenty of Lurnea's older homes still have fuse boards with no RCD protection. We replace them with a modern switchboard that has breakers and safety switches on every circuit, clearly labelled.
At 41.6 per cent, Lurnea's rental share is well above the NSW average. We test and replace hard-wired smoke alarms, check safety switches and give agents dated records at every changeover.
Small shops on Hill Road and Hoxton Park Road run fridges, fryers and signage on limited circuits. We add dedicated circuits, replace failed lighting with LED and fit compliant exit signs.

Week in, week out, our licensed crew opens up Lurnea’s older detached homes and newer duplexes, so we know the mix of fuse boards, extended circuits and shared supplies found here.

We quote in writing after a proper look. An older detached home off Hillview Parade and a new duplex near Hoxton Park Road need very different labour, so each gets its own fixed price.

Hot nights and summer storms bring the most Lurnea call-outs. When an old board overheats or a duplex loses power, we get an electrician there quickly.

Our 250+ customers include Lurnea families, duplex owners and local shopkeepers, and many first called us after a neighbour on the same street recommended us.

Labour on every Lurnea job is guaranteed for life, whether we swapped a fuse board in a family home or rewired both halves of a duplex.

Call or book online and tell us if the property is a duplex or has a granny flat, so we bring the right gear and allow time to trace both supplies.

Board and circuit tests come first; we then explain what we find without jargon, and give you a written fixed figure before any Lurnea work starts.

Most Lurnea homes have a driveway, so parking is easy. We arrive in the agreed window and call ahead if school zone traffic on Hoxton Park Road slows us.

We clean up fully, take old fittings and offcuts away, and leave the compliance certificate plus clear board labels showing which circuits serve which rooms.

What began with Spyro in 2017 is now a five-plus strong group of licensed electricians, and Lurnea sits squarely inside the patch they cover. Lurnea is close to our Liverpool jobs, so we are in its streets most weeks. The work is honest and varied: fuse board swaps in older family homes, duplex circuits sorted out, alarms kept legal for landlords, and small shop repairs at Lurnea Plaza.

Semi-detached homes and townhouses make up 21.7 per cent of Lurnea dwellings, close to double the NSW rate of 11.7 per cent. Building or renovating a duplex here means two sets of circuits, two boards and a supply that can carry both households.

Each Lurnea visit wraps up with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, the paperwork state law ties to all electrical jobs. In older homes, replacing or altering a fuse board means RCD protection on every final subcircuit under AS/NZS 3000. Type AC devices dropped out of permitted new work on 1 May 2023, so our boards carry Type A protection at minimum, including when we separate the two sides of a duplex.
We give a fixed price in writing after seeing the job. In Lurnea, adding a circuit to a newer duplex with an accessible roof is quick, while the same job in an older home with a fuse board may need the board replaced first to meet the rules. We explain the difference and put the number down before we start.
Old fuse board in a Lurnea home, a duplex with crossed circuits, or a rental that needs alarms checked before the next tenant? Ring 02 8999 3691. After an on-site look you hold a written, fixed number, and the workmanship stays guaranteed while you own the place.
Families, duplex owners and investors in Lurnea tend to raise the following. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
In most cases. Weekday visits run between 7am and 5:30pm, Saturdays between 7am and 2pm, and Lurnea is right beside Liverpool, where we work almost every day. Call 02 8999 3691 early for the best chance of a same-day visit. Hot or smoking boards and total power loss take priority.
We do not list prices, because similar-sounding jobs in Lurnea can differ a lot. A power point in a newer duplex is simple; the same request in an older house with a fuse board may mean board work first. We inspect, explain your options and give you a fixed price in writing.
No law forces you to replace a working fuse board, but it is usually the most worthwhile upgrade in an older Lurnea home. Fuses protect wiring from overload but not people from shock, and many older boards have no safety switches. Once a board is replaced or altered, the circuits must meet current RCD rules.
Usually because circuits or metering were crossed during a past renovation or subdivision. We isolate each dwelling, trace every circuit back to its board and find where the two supplies meet. Then we separate them, relabel both boards and give each owner a clear record of which circuits are theirs.
It depends on the title. In a strata-titled duplex, shared driveway lights, meter panels and common wiring may be common property under the by-laws, with costs shared. Under Torrens title, each owner is responsible for their own dwelling. We check the arrangement before starting so the right person approves and pays.
Air conditioners, fans and fridges all running together overload older circuits in many Lurnea homes. A breaker that trips points to overload; a safety switch that trips points to a fault. We find which it is, move air conditioning onto its own circuit, and can fit a ceiling fan in bedrooms.
Yes. Most Lurnea houses have a garage, carport or driveway suitable for a wall charger. We check the board and supply first, because an older fuse board usually needs replacing before a charger can be added. If you are upgrading the board anyway, we leave room for the charger circuit.
Landlords here must keep an alarm going on each floor, fix a reported dud inside two business days, and retire any unit a decade after it was made. Hard-wired alarms must be installed by a licensed electrician. With 41.6 per cent of Lurnea homes rented, we do many of these checks and leave dated records.
Yes. We add dedicated circuits for fridges, fryers and coffee machines, replace failed lighting with LED, fit exit and emergency lights and fix tripping faults. Noisy work and shutdowns are booked before opening or after close, and we liaise with plaza management where the job touches shared wiring, so the counter keeps serving.
Yes. Every electrician on our team is licensed and insured in NSW. Spyro has run the business since 2017, and the labour on every Lurnea job comes with a lifetime guarantee, so if anything we installed is not right, we come back and fix it.
