Apartments dominate the peninsula. The 2021 Census recorded 72.5 per cent of Cronulla dwellings as flats, against 21.7 per cent across NSW, while separate houses account for 20.5 per cent and townhouses 6.1 per cent. Guest houses gave way to high-rise blocks from the 1950s, so many buildings now carry ageing meter rooms and original unit boards. Two-bedroom homes make up 46.2 per cent of stock.
