Live near Kareela Reserve, rent out a place off Hillend Road or commute from Doonside station? This month’s Doonside deals also reach homes around Nurragingy Reserve, Featherdale Wildlife Park and Crawford Public School. Mention the offer when you ring to book and it comes off your job.

Doonside is a suburb of detached homes. The 2021 Census recorded 89.3 per cent separate houses, well above the 65.6 per cent state figure, and 54.8 per cent of dwellings with three bedrooms. It grew through staged subdivisions, beginning with the 1923 Doonside Station Estate, then the Crawford Estate from Power Street up to Richmond Road in 1931 and again in the 1970s. Boards in houses from those decades can still hold rewireable fuses. We handle switchboard replacements, extra power points for crowded family rooms and wiring checks before a sale.

Commercial work in Doonside is small in scale: the Doonside Hotel, church and school buildings such as Mountain View Adventist College on Doonside Road, and visitor sites like Featherdale Wildlife Park south of the railway. For these clients we trace faults, upgrade lighting, add circuits for kitchens and equipment, and keep commercial switchboards in good order.

Doonside households can lean on our same-day service for the faults these homes throw up: a fuse that blows each time the air conditioner kicks in, a warm or scorched power point in a busy kitchen, or a safety switch cutting the whole house after a heavy downpour.
Close to half of Doonside homes were rented at the 2021 Census, 45.4 per cent, so a good share of our work here comes from landlords and managing agents who need alarms renewed and faults cleared between tenants. Owner-occupiers make up the rest: families in four-bedroom houses wanting a split system circuit, a fresh board or lighting over a back patio. As a Doonside electrician we also see buyers who want an older place checked before they move in.
The work shifts with the part of the suburb. Around Power Street and Crawford Public School it is often 1970s houses short of capacity; nearer the station, the earliest lots from the 1923 Doonside Station Estate can hide tired cable beneath timber floors. We handle emergency electrical repairs when a board gives out, and we cover the rest of Western Sydney from Rooty Hill across to Parramatta.

More than half of Doonside dwellings have three bedrooms. We replace fuse boards, add circuits for split systems and fit extra outlets in kitchens that were planned for far fewer appliances than families run today.
With 45.4 per cent of homes rented in 2021, agents book us to renew dated smoke alarms, test safety switches and supply signed records before each new tenancy starts.
About 8.3 per cent of Doonside dwellings are semi-detached or townhouses. In these small complexes we work out which faults belong to the owner and which to common property, and keep shared driveway lighting running.
The Doonside Station Estate went on sale in 1923, so some houses near the railway carry decades of patched wiring. We test those old runs and swap brittle cable before it becomes a hazard.

Having worked through the Doonside mix of 1920s station-estate lots and 1970s Crawford Estate houses, our licensed crew knows how their boards, earthing and roof-space cable runs tend to differ.

A Hillend Road rental needing two alarms and a four-bedroom family home wanting a new board are priced separately, in writing, once we have seen each one.

When a Doonside family loses power to the kitchen or a tenant reports sparking, that call moves ahead of planned work and you get an honest arrival time.

Landlords, agents and owner-occupiers living around Kareela Reserve and Crawford Public School are among the 250+ customers who have reviewed our work across western Sydney.

Every hour of labour we put into a Doonside home is covered for life, from one replaced power point to a full rewire of an early Station Estate cottage.

Ring us with your cross street, whether dogs are loose in the yard and if a tenant needs notice. We then choose a slot that fits around school pick-up and your shifts.

We open the board, check the cable runs and send a written fixed figure. Nothing is added to it unless you approve extra work first.

Our vans come in along the Great Western Highway or Richmond Road and reach you inside the window we set. If the M4 slows us, you get a call.

On the way out we vacuum any plaster dust, cart old fittings off to the van and leave you the compliance paperwork, along with a plain summary of every change made inside the house.

Back in 2017 Spyro set the company up on his own; today five-plus licensed electricians carry the tools, and Doonside sits on our regular Blacktown district run. Most weeks here we are fitting new boards in family homes, clearing smoke alarm lists for rental agents and wiring outdoor living areas for the long western Sydney summers. The electrician who quotes your Doonside job is usually the one who finishes it, so nothing gets lost between visits.

Doonside households averaged 1.7 motor vehicles per dwelling at the 2021 Census, and with 89.3 per cent of homes being separate houses, most have a driveway or garage close to the meter box. That makes a wall-mounted charger a practical upgrade for families running two cars.

NSW rules oblige us to lodge a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work after every Doonside visit. On 1970s and earlier lots, touching the switchboard triggers the AS/NZS 3000 requirement for residual current protection across the final subcircuits, and the May 2023 exclusion of Type AC devices from fresh work means we reach for Type A units. Tired wiring we come across is either put right or listed in writing for you.
Our prices are fixed and written down before any work starts. A phone estimate rarely suits Doonside: adding a circuit in a newer townhouse with an easy-to-reach board can be quick, while the same job in a low-set house from the 1923 Station Estate might mean crawling under timber floors and renewing old cable on the way. We inspect first, then commit to one number.
Fuse board still in the laundry of your Power Street house, alarms due on a Hillend Road rental, or an electric car to charge at home? Phone 02 8999 3691 to book an inspection; we put the fixed price on paper before starting and stand behind our labour for life.
Doonside landlords, renters, young families and small business owners put these questions to us most often. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Quite often. Our vans are out from 7am until 5:30pm on weekdays and from 7am until 2pm each Saturday, and Doonside lies on routes we cover daily between Blacktown and Mount Druitt. Ring 02 8999 3691 early and there is a good chance we reach you before the day ends. A hot power point, a burning smell or a main switch that refuses to stay up gets bumped forward.
We look at it before naming a figure. Two jobs that sound alike can be very different here: fitting lights in a recent townhouse is fairly simple, while the same lights in an older house with a low roof pitch and no easy access take longer. Once we have inspected, a single written figure lands in your inbox, and it stays put unless you add to the scope.
Usually it is worth doing. Many Doonside homes were built on lots released between the 1920s and 1970s, and their original boards often have rewireable fuses and little or no RCD protection. Families now run far more appliances than those boards were meant for. We test the existing circuits, tell you which are sound, then quote a new board with proper safety switches on every final subcircuit.
Every storey needs an alarm that actually works. When a tenant reports one faulty, landlords have two business days to sort it, and no alarm may stay past its tenth year from manufacture. Mains-powered units are licensed electrician territory. Roughly 45 per cent of Doonside homes are leased, so these visits are routine for us, and we offer smoke alarm testing between tenancies with dated records for your file.
Yes. Western Sydney summers push many Doonside families to add cooling to bedrooms and living areas, and a larger unit usually needs its own circuit from the board. We check whether the board has room and whether the supply can handle it, then run the cable, fit the isolator near the outdoor unit and test everything before we leave.
It usually points to moisture getting into an outdoor fitting, a garden light, an old weatherproof outlet or a cable joint in the yard. It can also be a failing appliance on a circuit that shares the same RCD. Please do not keep pushing the switch back up. We isolate each circuit, find the fault, repair or replace the part and confirm the RCD trips at the right level.
It depends on where the fault is. Wiring from your own lot’s meter or board into your home is normally the owner’s responsibility, while shared driveway lighting, common mains and the main switchboard usually belong to the owners corporation. About 8.3 per cent of Doonside dwellings are semi-detached or townhouses, so we see this often. We trace the fault first and write up where it sits.
Yes. Most Doonside houses sit on regular suburban blocks with room for a covered patio or pergola. We fit weatherproof LED lighting, outdoor-rated ceiling fans and extra power for a barbecue or fridge, all on RCD-protected circuits. Switches go where they make sense from inside the house, and outdoor fittings are chosen to handle the heat and storms.
We do. The suburb has several schools, including Mountain View Adventist College and St John Vianney’s, along with church halls, the Doonside Hotel and small retail premises. We handle lighting upgrades, extra circuits, emergency lighting checks and fault finding, and we time noisy or disruptive work around classes, services or trading so things keep running.
