Own an apartment along Darling Point Road, keep a sandstone home on Carthona Avenue or live near McKell Park? Our current Darling Point specials extend to Greenoaks Avenue, Mona Road and the New Beach Road side as well. Raise the offer when you phone so we can apply it.

Darling Point is overwhelmingly apartments. The 2021 Census recorded 87.1 per cent flats, just 6.5 per cent separate houses and 42.9 per cent of homes owned outright, well above the 31.5 per cent NSW figure. Among the units sit estates like Carthona, built in 1841, and the 1935 Craigend. So one day we might replace a unit switchboard in a ridge-top building off Darling Point Road, and the next carefully rewire a heritage residence without marking its joinery.

Shops are scarce on this headland. Commercial work comes from the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia beside Rushcutters Bay Park, St Mark’s Church, which doubles as a busy wedding venue, and the building managers who run common property for the suburb’s apartment blocks. We cover lighting, power, testing and lift lobby circuits for all three.

Our same-day service covers every address on the point, from New Beach Road up to McKell Park. Urgent jobs here include a unit losing power after a corroded balcony fitting trips the RCD, lobby or car park lighting failing, and old circuits overheating in a heritage house.
Many of our Darling Point customers are owners who have lived in the same apartment for years. Almost 43 per cent of homes are fully owned, the median age is 49, and 38.2 per cent of households hold a single person. Those owners want dependable work, clear explanations and an electrician who respects a finished interior. As your Darling Point electrician we also serve owners corporations, managing agents and the heritage estates scattered along the ridge.
Census night found 21.4 per cent of private dwellings empty, more than double the state share, which points to plenty of second homes and long trips away. We check boards and alarms before owners travel, set up timed lighting and LED lighting, and respond with urgent electrical help when something fails while the place sits vacant. That mix is normal for us across the Eastern Suburbs.

With 87.1 per cent of homes in flats, most of our Darling Point work sits inside strata. We upgrade unit boards, trace faults between lots and common property, and document everything for the managing agent.
Listed homes such as Carthona, Lindesay, The Swifts and Bishopscourt need a gentle hand. We route new cable through existing voids and keep fittings sympathetic, so original stone and timber stay untouched.
Almost 44 per cent of working residents are professionals, and legal services is the top industry. We run data cabling, dedicated circuits for equipment and quiet, flicker-free lighting for studies and libraries.
Salt air coming off the harbour wears out outdoor fittings quickly. We replace corroded balcony lights and garden power with sealed, weather-rated gear, and check outside circuits trip correctly when tested.

Our licensed team has worked inside Darling Point apartment buildings and older harbourside homes, and understands how heritage rules and strata by-laws both shape the way cable can be run.

We look at the job, then give one fixed amount on paper. A lobby lighting upgrade for a Greenoaks Avenue block and a unit kitchen refit are priced on their own merits.

If a Darling Point apartment loses power or a building’s common lights fail, we juggle our day so an electrician can get there fast, including when the owner is interstate.

Our 250+ customers include Darling Point owners, strata committees and building managers, and a fair share of our work here arrives through referrals between neighbours in one building.

Every circuit we install on the point carries a lifetime labour guarantee, which suits owners who plan to stay in their apartment or family home for decades.

Give us the building name, concierge or manager contact and any lift booking rules. We then pick a time that works for you and for the building’s access arrangements.

We inspect the board, the cable paths and any heritage constraints, then send a written fixed figure. It covers everything agreed, with no surprises when the invoice arrives.

Parking along Darling Point Road is tight, so we plan the van spot and loading access first, arrive in the arranged window, and phone ahead if anything changes.

Floors and lift walls get covered, waste leaves with us, and you receive your compliance certificate plus a short written summary describing exactly what we changed.

Local pockets we cover in Darling Point

Spyro set up the business in 2017, and today five-plus licensed electricians carry his approach across the eastern suburbs. Darling Point asks for patience and precision: finished interiors, owners who expect clear answers, building managers who need records, and nineteenth-century homes like Carthona and Lindesay nearby. We treat each unit or house as if it were our own, and the electrician who quotes is usually the one who does the work.

On 2021 Census night, 21.4 per cent of Darling Point’s private dwellings were unoccupied, compared with 9.4 per cent across NSW. Owners heading overseas or splitting time between homes often ask us to inspect before they leave.

A Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, or CCEW, goes on file for each Darling Point job, as NSW law requires. In buildings from several different decades, we often find boards that were extended bit by bit without proper protection. Following AS/NZS 3000, altering or replacing a board brings residual current protection to the final subcircuits, and we never install Type AC devices, which have been excluded from new work since 1 May 2023.
Each quote is fixed and written after we have seen the site. Scale varies enormously here: replacing a light fitting in a modern Darling Point apartment with an accessible ceiling is straightforward, while a similar job in an 1840s sandstone house with thick walls and a heritage plan to respect demands far more time. We price the real conditions, not a guess.
Planning a trip and want the apartment checked, managing a building with failing common lights, or restoring a heritage home near McKell Park? Dial 02 8999 3691. We will send a licensed electrician to Darling Point, inspect the work and give you a written fixed price, with a lifetime labour guarantee.
Darling Point apartment owners, strata committees, building managers and heritage home owners raise these questions most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Usually. We work from 7am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 2pm Saturday, and Sunday is our day off. Darling Point is a short drive from our regular eastern suburbs routes, so ringing 02 8999 3691 early often gets someone there the same day. A burning smell, a hot board or a unit that has lost all supply is dealt with ahead of scheduled work.
After an inspection. Access, building rules, lift bookings and the state of the existing board all affect how long a job takes, so a phone estimate would not be fair. We quote one written fixed amount and stick to it. If you ask for more work during the visit, we price that addition separately before starting it.
It depends where the fault is. Wiring from your unit’s own board through your rooms usually belongs to your lot, while main switchrooms, sub-mains, lobbies, car parks and lift lighting are generally common property. Because 87.1 per cent of Darling Point homes are flats, we trace this regularly and provide a written report to both you and the managing agent.
Yes. The suburb has several listed homes, including Lindesay on Carthona Avenue, The Swifts and Babworth House on Darling Point Road and Bishopscourt on Greenoaks Avenue. We plan routes through existing voids and under floors, avoid drilling original stone and keep new fittings discreet. Talk to Woollahra Council about approvals before visible changes go ahead.
It is worth doing. A fifth of Darling Point dwellings were empty on Census night, and faults in unattended homes can go unnoticed for weeks. We test the switchboard and RCDs, check outlets and heaters for signs of overheating, label circuits so essentials stay on, and replace any flat or expired smoke alarms before you go.
Legal services, real estate and finance top the list of industries Darling Point residents work in, and home studies here get used hard. We install dedicated circuits for computers and printers, structured network cabling to each desk, surge protection at the board and glare-free task lighting. Everything is labelled so an IT contractor can find it later.
Rented homes in NSW need a working alarm on every storey. A tenant-reported fault must be fixed within two business days, and any alarm more than ten years past its manufacture date must be replaced. Hard-wired alarms are licensed electrician work. About a third of Darling Point homes are rented, and we service alarms for landlords and agents across the point.
Usually, if the owners corporation agrees. Darling Point averages 1.3 vehicles per dwelling, so parking bays are in steady use. We assess spare capacity at the main board, prepare the details the strata committee needs to approve the circuit across common property, then install a dedicated feed and charger at your space. We can also advise on shared charging for several residents.
We do. Venues such as St Mark’s Church, which hosts many weddings, and the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia near Rushcutters Bay Park need reliable lighting, power for events and tested emergency and exit lights. We schedule around bookings and races so nothing clashes with a service or an event.
All of Darling Point 2027, from Darling Point Road, Mona Road and Greenoaks Avenue to New Beach Road, Carthona Avenue, Lindsay Avenue, Annandale Street, Bennett Avenue, McKell Park, Sir David Martin Reserve and the ferry wharf. We also work regularly in Edgecliff, Double Bay, Rushcutters Bay, Elizabeth Bay, Woollahra, Point Piper, Paddington and Potts Point.
