Apartments dominate Double Bay housing. The 2021 Census counted 76.6 per cent flats and 13.4 per cent separate houses, against 65.6 per cent houses for NSW, and 47.5 per cent of homes had two bedrooms. Between the blocks sit listed houses such as Gladswood House and the pair in Wiston Gardens. We handle switchboard renewals for units whose boards were never sized for split systems and induction, full kitchen rewiring, and careful upgrades in older houses where plaster and joinery matter.

Double Bay is Woollahra’s administrative centre and a serious shopping strip. Hotels, fashion boutiques, restaurants, supermarkets, offices and coffee shops line New South Head Road, Knox, Cross and Bay Streets, with Kiaora Place anchoring one end. We do shop and office fit-outs, kitchen circuits and emergency lighting tests around trading hours.

We bring same-day service to Double Bay shops and homes alike. Common urgent calls: a boutique on Knox Street losing its lighting track mid-afternoon, a restaurant cool room tripping, an apartment with a burnt-out outlet behind the fridge, or a building’s entry lights dead after rain.
Double Bay gives us two quite different kinds of customer. On the residential side, 42.9 per cent of dwellings are rented and a further 33.8 per cent owned outright, so we answer to agents, long-term owners and strata committees in roughly equal measure. Retailers and restaurateurs along the shopping streets call when a lease changes hands or a fit-out needs finishing before opening day. Owners looking for a Double Bay electrician who understands both worlds tend to stay with us.
The typical week varies. It might start with data cabling for a new office above New South Head Road, move to LED downlight upgrades in a two-bedroom flat near Steyne Park and finish with an urgent fault call to a cafe kitchen off Cross Street. All of it is part of our regular work across the Eastern Suburbs.

Flats make up 76.6 per cent of Double Bay dwellings. We renew unit boards, add circuits for air conditioning and induction, and separate common property faults from lot faults for strata managers.
Hotels and restaurants cluster along New South Head Road and its side streets. We install dedicated feeds for ovens, dishwashers and cool rooms, and schedule the noisy parts outside service times.
Gladswood House, Overthorpe, Fairwater and the Wiston Gardens houses are all heritage listed. On homes of this kind we run cable discreetly and avoid disturbing original plaster, joinery and stonework.
With 42.9 per cent of homes leased, agents book us between tenancies to replace expired smoke alarms, test RCDs and fix loose outlets before new tenants collect the keys.

Our licensed electricians handle both Double Bay retail tenancies and apartment interiors, so we know shopfront compliance requirements as well as strata rules that govern unit work.

Every job, whether a Knox Street boutique or a flat overlooking Blackburn Cove, gets inspected first and then quoted with one fixed written price you can plan around.

When a Double Bay restaurant trips at lunch or a flat loses supply, we rework our run so a licensed electrician arrives quickly and trading or daily life can resume.

Our 250+ customers include Double Bay retailers, landlords, strata committees and homeowners, and several of our commercial jobs here came through a recommendation from the shop next door.

Circuits we install in any Double Bay property carry a lifetime labour guarantee, covering boutique lighting as well as apartment kitchens and heritage-house rewires.

Tell us whether you need us before opening, after close or midweek, and let us know about loading zones or building access. We then lock in a time that suits.

We walk through the space, check the board and cable routes, then provide a written fixed price covering everything agreed, so budget approvals go through without surprises.

Parking near Knox Street and Bay Street is limited, so we plan loading and van placement ahead, turn up in the agreed window and ring if traffic holds us up.

Shop floors are protected, off-cuts and packaging go with us, and you get the compliance certificate along with a clear record of what we installed or changed.

Spyro launched the business in 2017, and the team now includes five-plus licensed electricians. Double Bay suits us because it combines strict retail deadlines with careful residential work. One day we are wiring a boutique fit-out on Cross Street before opening; the next we are replacing an old board in a flat near the ferry wharf. The same electrician generally stays with a project from quote to handover.

Double Bay’s commercial strip along New South Head Road, Knox, Cross and Bay Streets holds hotels, boutiques, restaurants, supermarkets and offices. For that mix of tenants, fit-out wiring is the commercial job we quote most in 2028.

NSW rules require a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, and we lodge one after every Double Bay job, from a single boutique fitting to a whole-apartment rewire. Older flats and listed houses here often have boards patched over decades. When we alter or replace a board, AS/NZS 3000 brings safety switch protection onto each final subcircuit, and Type AC units stay out because new work has excluded them since 1 May 2023.
We inspect first, then put one fixed figure in writing. In Double Bay, the gap between two similar requests can be large: new lighting in a vacant Knox Street shell with open ceilings may be quick, while the same fittings in a heritage house off New South Head Road, with ornate plaster to protect, take much longer. You always see the full price upfront.
Fit-out deadline on Bay Street, a rental changeover coming up, or an apartment board that trips every time the oven and heater run together? Call 02 8999 3691. A licensed electrician will visit Double Bay, inspect properly and give you a written fixed price, backed by our lifetime labour guarantee.
Double Bay retailers, restaurant owners, landlords and apartment owners ask us these questions most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Most days. We operate Monday to Friday from 7am to 5:30pm and Saturday from 7am to 2pm, and we are closed Sundays. Double Bay is on our usual eastern suburbs circuit, so calling 02 8999 3691 in the morning usually gets someone out that day. Shops without power, restaurants with tripping kitchens and anything smelling of burning go to the front of the queue.
We quote only after we have seen it. Shopfronts, apartments and heritage houses in Double Bay differ widely in access, ceiling space and existing wiring. After inspecting, we give a single written fixed price covering labour and materials. If you want extra items added during the job, we price them before starting, so the final figure never surprises you.
That is our aim on every Double Bay fit-out. We plan the electrical work with your shopfitter, order long-lead fittings early and schedule noisy stages outside trading hours for neighbours. We install fit-out wiring, lighting tracks, point-of-sale power and exit lights, then test everything and provide certificates so the landlord can sign off.
Yes. Double Bay’s hotels and restaurants rely on steady power for ovens, dishwashers and refrigeration. We add dedicated circuits, balance loads so one appliance does not trip another, and test emergency lighting. Work is planned before service or after close so kitchens keep running.
Generally, wiring from your unit’s own board through your rooms is your responsibility, while the main switchroom, sub-mains, lobbies, car parks and stairwell lighting are common property. With 76.6 per cent of Double Bay homes in flats, we sort this out regularly. We find the fault first, then report in writing to you and your strata manager.
Rented homes in NSW need a working alarm on every storey. Faults reported by tenants must be repaired within two business days, and alarms past ten years from manufacture must be replaced. Only a licensed electrician may install hard-wired units. With 42.9 per cent of Double Bay homes rented, we often service several flats for one agent in a visit.
Yes. Listed places here include Gladswood House in Gladswood Gardens, Overthorpe and Fairwater on New South Head Road, the houses at 4 and 6 Wiston Gardens and the Compressed Air Ejector Station on Cross Street. We route cable through existing voids, keep fittings sympathetic and avoid cutting original plaster or stone. Check with Woollahra Council before any visible change.
Often, with strata approval. Double Bay averages 1.3 vehicles per dwelling. We check the building’s spare capacity, prepare the details the owners corporation needs for approval, then run a dedicated circuit to your space and install the charger. For buildings planning shared charging, we can assess the main board and suggest a layout.
We can. Legal, finance and real estate services are among the top industries for Double Bay residents, and offices share the commercial strip with the shops. We install structured cabling, dedicated circuits for equipment, floor boxes and energy-efficient lighting, all labelled for future moves.
All of Double Bay 2028, including New South Head Road, Knox, Cross and Bay Streets, Kiaora Place, Steyne Park, Gladswood Gardens, Wiston Gardens, Blackburn Cove and the ferry wharf area. We also work regularly in Darling Point, Point Piper, Edgecliff, Woollahra, Bellevue Hill, Rose Bay, Rushcutters Bay and Paddington.
