Davidson is almost entirely detached housing. The 2021 Census counted 98.2 per cent separate houses, against 65.6 per cent across NSW, and 81.0 per cent had four or more bedrooms, averaging 4.1 bedrooms per home. The land started as a quarry and houses only arrived from the late 1970s, so many boards and cable runs are now forty-odd years old. We upgrade switchboards, add circuits for new ensuites and alfresco kitchens, and handle home electrical work across split-level blocks.

Commercial activity is limited to a small complex at Yindela Street and Pound Avenue with a café, hairdresser and sports injury clinic, plus local schools and the Rural Fire Brigade station. We maintain lighting and power in these buildings and schedule commercial electrical work around opening hours.

Same-day service covers every Davidson street, from Borgnis Street down to the reserves bordering the national park. Common emergencies include storm-damaged circuits, overloaded boards in large homes during heatwaves, and outdoor power points that trip after heavy rain on sloping blocks.
Davidson is an owner’s suburb. At the last Census, 46.7 per cent of homes had a mortgage, 45.0 per cent were owned outright and only 6.6 per cent were rented, so most of our work is for families improving homes they plan to keep. Popular jobs include additional kitchen circuits, lighting for decks overlooking the bush and upgraded power for home offices. As your Davidson electrician we also inspect wiring before sales and major renovations.
Bushland surrounds much of the suburb, bringing storms, falling branches and heat that test older wiring. When a home suddenly loses power or a circuit starts smelling hot, our emergency electrical service dispatches the nearest licensed electrician from Frenchs Forest, Belrose or anywhere else across the Northern Beaches.

Davidson averages 4.1 bedrooms per home, and many are built across multiple levels on sloping blocks. We trace long cable runs, add circuits for extensions and install LED lighting throughout.
Garigal National Park surrounds much of Davidson, and major bushfires hit the area in 1994. We inspect storm-damaged fittings, secure outdoor cabling and fix circuits damaged by moisture after heavy rain.
With 2.4 vehicles per household on average, Davidson garages often need more power. We install dedicated charging circuits, add garage outlets and upgrade boards where capacity is limited.
The small centre on Yindela Street and Pound Avenue includes a café, hairdresser and sports injury clinic. We maintain lighting, repair faulty outlets and add circuits for new equipment outside trading hours.

Our licensed people are familiar with Davidson’s late-1970s and 1980s homes well, including the long cable runs through split levels and the subfloor spaces built into sloping blocks near Garigal.

We inspect before giving you one written figure. A single-level home on Prahran Avenue and a three-level house backing onto bushland on Maitland Street are priced separately.

When a storm drops a branch onto a Davidson roof or an overloaded board starts tripping, we treat that call as urgent and reschedule routine work to get there faster.

Many of our 250+ customers in Davidson are long-term families who found us through neighbours, school contacts and word of mouth around the Kambora Avenue area.

Workmanship on our Davidson circuits is guaranteed for life, including power in steep backyards, sheds and entertainment areas facing the national park.

Give us your street and let us know about steep driveways, pets or side gates. We will book a time around school pick-ups, work meetings or weekend plans.

Our electrician looks over the board, the roof void and the subfloor, then talks you through the options. The written quote that follows is fixed, and you approve it first.

Davidson streets are quiet and parking is easy, so we arrive within the agreed time window. If traffic on Warringah Road or Forest Way slows us down, we will call ahead.

We lay runners through hallways and down split-level stairs, take every scrap of packaging away, and hand over the CCEW with a list of the circuits we touched.

The company dates to 2017, when Spyro registered it, and has since grown into a five-plus crew of licensed electricians. Davidson suits our team well because most jobs are long-term upgrades for families who plan to stay. That might mean replacing a switchboard from the early 1980s, rewiring a kitchen or adding power to a new deck overlooking the bush. The same electrician usually handles the job from quote to completion.

Davidson homes were mostly built from the late 1970s onward, and 81.0 per cent now have four or more bedrooms. That means many original switchboards are powering ducted air, pool equipment, EV chargers and home offices they were never designed to handle.

Paperwork matters on the ridge as much as anywhere: each Davidson visit closes with a CCEW lodged under NSW law. Houses here date from the late 1970s on, and forty years of owner add-ons often hide behind the plasterboard, so any cable we open up gets fixed or listed in our report. Swapping or reworking a board means residual current protection for final subcircuits under AS/NZS 3000, and since 1 May 2023 no Type AC device may go into fresh work.
Your Davidson quote is a single sum on paper, settled before a cable is cut. Guessing by phone fails here: a few extra lights in a single-level Prahran Avenue home are a morning’s task, yet a three-storey Maitland Street house stepping down toward the bush can mean long pulls through subfloors and cramped roof voids. So we come and look, then name one number.
Need a switchboard upgrade for a busy family home, power for a new deck facing Garigal, or repairs after a storm? On 02 8999 3691 you can book an inspection; a set price follows in writing, and our workmanship comes with lifelong cover.
These are the questions Davidson homeowners and local businesses ask us most often. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Quite often. Vans roll from 7am and finish at 5:30pm on weekdays, while Saturday runs go from 7am to 2pm. We pass through Frenchs Forest and Belrose most days, so Davidson is an easy detour, and an early call improves the odds. A hot smell, scorch marks or a main switch that refuses to stay up should be mentioned straight away, because that job jumps our queue.
We inspect before quoting. Jobs vary widely between homes: adding circuits in a single-storey house is usually straightforward, while large split-level homes on steep blocks often require more time and cabling. Once we have walked through, the number we write down is the number you pay, unless you add tasks.
Not always. Many Davidson homes still have their original boards from the late 1970s or 1980s, often with limited RCD protection and little spare capacity. We test every circuit, identify any risks and explain whether repairs are enough or a full board replacement is the better long-term option.
Homes backing onto Garigal National Park face storms, falling branches and heavy rain. We inspect outdoor fittings, seal exposed cable entries and replace damaged components with weatherproof parts. If a branch brings down the supply line to your home, stay clear, call 000 if there is danger and report it to Ausgrid on 13 13 88.
Yes. Households here average 2.4 vehicles and nearly every home has a garage, which makes Davidson ideal for charging at home. Our electrician first measures the headroom left in your board, then lays a separate feed out to the garage wall and mounts the unit beside the car bay. If the board is already crowded, you will hear the upgrade options before any quote.
Yes. Plenty of Davidson families would rather renovate than leave the street, and a bigger kitchen or a new ensuite in a large home usually needs its own circuits. We liaise with the builder, pull cable during the frame stage and, where the board is short on room, replace it at the same time. See our renovation wiring page for how we stage the work.
Yes. Many homes overlook bushland, so outdoor living areas are popular. We install weatherproof power points, LED deck lighting and garden lights with timers or smart controls. Fittings are carefully positioned to light stairs and paths without glaring into neighbouring properties.
Yes. On the upper levels of Davidson’s big split-level homes, bedrooms under the roof can hold summer heat well into the night. We fit ceiling fans with wall controllers, confirm the framing can carry each fan, keep clear of downlight and insulation zones, and run a fresh circuit when the old lighting circuit is already loaded.
Yes. Around the Yindela Street and Pound Avenue complex we look after shop lighting, faulty outlets and new equipment circuits, and we can help schools and community halls in the area too. For clinics and home-based businesses we install data cabling and extra power, booking drilling and noisy tasks for times when customers are not around.
The whole of Davidson 2085 is within reach, including Kambora Avenue, Borgnis Street, Stone Parade, Maitland Street, Prahran Avenue and the streets around McFarlane Reserve and Richard Healy Oval. We also regularly work in Frenchs Forest, Belrose, Killarney Heights, Forestville, Terrey Hills and Allambie Heights.
