Earlwood is house country. At the 2021 Census, 80.1 per cent of occupied dwellings were separate houses, against 65.6 per cent across NSW, and 77.2 per cent had three bedrooms or more. West of Wardell Road lies a soldier settlement subdivision laid out after World War I, its streets named Vimy, Fricourt, Flers and Kitchener. In those interwar bungalows we pull out ceramic fuse panels, run fresh cable through old hardwood frames and power up rear additions and new upstairs rooms.

Trade in Earlwood clusters on Homer Street, where Greek, Thai and European eateries sit between cafes and small retailers, with a Coles and more stores around Clarke Street. For these tenancies we handle shopfront electrical maintenance, extra circuits for cooking lines, exit light testing and lighting refits, timed around trading so the shutters stay up.

Our same-day service covers the whole 2206 postcode, from the Undercliffe escarpment above the Cooks River across to Bexley Road. Urgent calls we get here include a bungalow main switch dropping out whenever the oven heats up, a scorched fuse carrier in a hallway board, and a Homer Street shop losing its refrigeration circuit mid-morning.
Families drive most of our Earlwood bookings. Couples with children made up 51.8 per cent of families at the 2021 Census, and 44.4 per cent of homes were owned outright, so plenty of owners are improving houses they plan to keep. That brings kitchen rebuilds needing a dedicated induction circuit, covered decks wanting weatherproof outlets and lighting, and garden studios out the back. As your Earlwood electrician we also set up home offices and chase nuisance tripping that has puzzled owners for months.
The suburb follows the south bank of the Cooks River down to Wolli Creek, rising sharply at Undercliffe and flattening out near Cup and Saucer Creek. Sloping sites change where cable can travel and where a new board can sit. A flickering circuit in a Homer Street cafe or an urgent fault in a Fricourt Avenue bungalow gets the same careful approach we bring to neighbouring suburbs across the Inner West.

The streets west of Wardell Road were carved up for returned servicemen after World War I. Many homes there still hold early cable and fuse panels, which we replace while leaving plaster ceilings and timber joinery intact.
A third of Earlwood homes have four or more bedrooms, so circuits get worked hard. We split overloaded circuits, add dedicated lines for ovens and split systems, and label every breaker so anyone can read it.
Restaurants, cafes and small shops line Homer Street near Earlwood Avenue. We fit out new tenancies, maintain lighting and exit signs, and add kitchen circuits without shutting the business for a whole day.
Earlwood holds State Heritage Register items such as the Cooks River Sewage Aqueduct on Pine Street and the Wolli Creek Aqueduct off Unwin Street. In the older homes around them we work gently and keep original features.

Our licensed electricians have worked through many Earlwood interwar bungalows, from perished rubber-insulated cable in low roof spaces to cramped original meter panels in homes along streets like Vimy and Flers.

Before any work begins in 2206 we inspect, then commit to one figure on paper. Adding a circuit to a single-storey cottage is priced differently from wiring a new upstairs extension.

A dead kitchen circuit before a big family lunch, or a burning smell from a hallway board off Homer Street, jumps ahead of routine bookings on our list for that day.

Earlwood families who renovated with us are part of our 250+ customers, and many call again when they add a studio, rebuild the kitchen or finally retire the old fuse panel.

Labour on each Earlwood job is guaranteed for life. If a connection we made in a Wardell Road area bungalow ever fails, we come back and correct it without charging for our time.

Ring or message with your street and a rough idea of the problem. We offer a visit that fits around school runs, shift work or your Homer Street trading hours.

An electrician walks the house, opens the board and checks the roof space, then sends a written fixed figure. Nothing gets added unless you ask for more work.

Hilly streets near Undercliffe and tight parking on Homer Street shape how we plan arrival. We turn up inside the agreed window and phone ahead if Bexley Road traffic slows us.

Drop sheets protect polished floorboards, offcuts and packaging leave in our van, and your CCEW is emailed once every circuit we touched has passed testing.

Spyro started the business in 2017, and the team has since grown to five-plus licensed electricians. Earlwood has become steady work for us because its homes reward patience: interwar bungalows still running original circuits, family houses extended more than once over the decades, and Homer Street tenancies that cannot close for long. The same small crew quotes, completes and signs off every job, so you deal with people who already know your house.

Earlwood is 80.1 per cent separate houses, and 44.4 per cent of homes are owned outright compared with 31.5 per cent statewide, so many owners renovate rather than move. Kitchen rebuilds, rear additions and first-floor extensions on interwar bungalows are the projects we price most often in 2206.

Every Earlwood job finishes with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, lodged as NSW law requires. In bungalows built after World War I, original wiring we disturb is either upgraded or listed for you in writing. Under AS/NZS 3000, changing or replacing a board means residual current protection on each final subcircuit, and Type AC devices have been barred from new work since 1 May 2023.
We will not guess a price down the phone. Adding a few outlets to a single-storey cottage west of Wardell Road takes far less time than wiring a two-storey rear addition on a four-bedroom house near Beaman Park, and the figure should reflect that. So an electrician inspects first, then you receive one fixed amount in writing that holds unless the scope changes.
Planning a kitchen rebuild near Earlwood Oval, chasing a tripping circuit in a Wardell Road bungalow, or opening a new shop on Homer Street? Phone 02 8999 3691. A licensed electrician will look at it in person, give you a written fixed price and back the labour for life.
These are the questions Earlwood home owners, renovating families and Homer Street shopkeepers put to us most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Most days, yes. Our electricians work 7am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 2pm on Saturday, and Earlwood sits on routes we drive daily between the Inner West and St George. Calling 02 8999 3691 in the morning gives the best chance of a visit before knock-off. If you notice scorching, a burning smell or a main switch that refuses to reset, say so and we treat it as urgent.
We price each job after seeing it. Two requests that sound alike can differ a lot here: swapping light fittings in a renovated single-storey house is quick, while threading new cable through the roof of an interwar bungalow with low clearance and fragile ceilings takes much longer. After the inspection we send a fixed figure in writing, and it only moves if you add to the scope.
Very likely. Many homes on the post World War I subdivision west of Wardell Road were wired generations ago, and ceramic fuse panels give no residual current protection. A switchboard upgrade adds safety switches, circuit breakers and spare space for circuits such as air conditioning. We also test the existing cabling and earthing, because a new board is only as safe as the wiring feeding from it.
Yes. With 77.2 per cent of Earlwood homes having three or more bedrooms, extending up or out is common here. We work from your plans, calculate whether the supply and board can take the added load, rough in cabling while the frame is open, then fit off once plastering is done. Talking with your builder early avoids chasing finished walls later.
We do. Earlwood households averaged 1.8 motor vehicles per dwelling in 2021, and many houses have a garage or carport where a wall charger fits neatly. We check board capacity, run a dedicated protected circuit, and add load management if the home already runs heavy appliances. A sloping driveway is fine as long as there is a sheltered wall to mount the unit on.
Yes. We run a submain from the house to a small board in the outbuilding, lay the cable in conduit at the correct depth, then fit lighting, outlets and an air conditioning circuit inside. On sloping blocks near Undercliffe we plan the route around retaining walls, steps and paths. Building approvals sit with your builder or certifier; our part is compliant wiring and the paperwork that proves it.
Yes. We maintain shops, cafes and eateries along Homer Street and around Clarke Street. Typical jobs include extra circuits for commercial kitchen gear, lighting upgrades, exit and emergency light testing, and tenancy fit-outs for new operators. Noisy or disruptive work is booked before opening or on quieter days, so customers keep coming through the door while we work.
Usually water is reaching an outdoor fitting, a garden light or a cable joint under the house. Earlwood gardens on the slopes toward the Cooks River and Wolli Creek cop heavy summer downpours. We isolate each circuit, run insulation resistance tests and find the actual fault instead of swapping the safety switch. Avoid resetting it over and over, because the device is doing exactly what it should.
If your alarms run only on batteries or are older than ten years, yes. In larger homes with bedrooms upstairs and living areas below, hard-wired interconnected smoke alarms mean a fire detected in the downstairs lounge sets off every alarm near the bedrooms. We wire them to a dedicated circuit with battery backup and test each one before we leave.
We cover all of Earlwood 2206, including Undercliffe, the Homer Street and Clarke Street shops, the streets around Earlwood Oval and Beaman Park, and the homes above Girrawheen Park and Wolli Creek. We also work daily in the suburbs around it: Clemton Park, Hurlstone Park, Bardwell Park, Turrella, Canterbury, Marrickville, Tempe, Bexley North and Kingsgrove.
