Own a flat in Blues Point Tower, a cottage off Munro Street or a studio near the top of Blues Point Road? Our seasonal McMahons Point deals also reach Sawmillers Reserve, East Crescent and the ferry wharf streets. Say you saw this offer when you ring and we will knock it off.

Only 13.0 per cent of McMahons Point dwellings were separate houses at the 2021 Census, well under the 65.6 per cent NSW figure. Terraces and townhouses make up 23.6 per cent and apartments 62.8 per cent, from the 24-level Blues Point Tower to low walk-ups on West Crescent Street. Most of the peninsula was carved into lots by the 1870s, so we still open walls holding rubber cable beside 1960s tower risers. Typical calls: board replacements, extra kitchen circuits and new lighting in slim harbour-view units.

The northern end of Blues Point Road runs into the North Sydney office area and holds agencies, publishers, architects, engineers and IT firms, plus alfresco cafes and small shops. For these tenancies we move power and network cabling to new desk layouts, fit exit signage and keep kitchens running between the lunch and dinner trade.

Our same-day service covers the whole peninsula, from the Berrys Bay side across to Lavender Bay. Urgent jobs here tend to be a dead riser in an older apartment block, a terrace circuit that trips each time the harbour wind drives rain into a wall, or a cafe losing its coffee machine mid-morning.
Owners in McMahons Point are a smaller group than you might expect: 51.6 per cent of homes were rented in 2021, so managing agents and strata committees keep us busy alongside long-time residents. Landlords book alarm checks before a new lease, owners of Munro Street and French Street cottages want old circuits made sound without harming original joinery, and creative studios near the North Sydney end need extra desks powered. We are the McMahons Point electrician many of them now keep on speed dial.
Work changes as you walk toward the water. Up the hill it is shopfronts and offices; around Bay View Street and East Crescent it becomes cottages, terraces and older flats with shared meter panels. Replacing ceramic fuses, tracing a lost neutral in a walk-up, adding new outlets to a home office or handling an urgent power fault are normal jobs for our crew across the North Shore.

Lots on the middle and southern peninsula were subdivided by the 1870s. We swap aged cable and fuses for modern circuits and earthing while leaving facades, fireplaces and old timber trims intact.
Apartments make up 62.8 per cent of homes, including 144 in Blues Point Tower. We trace faults on shared risers and common lighting, then report clearly to owners and the strata manager.
About 51.6 per cent of McMahons Point households rent. Agents book us between tenants to swap expired smoke alarms, test RCDs and hand over dated records for the file.
Media, design, engineering and computing businesses cluster at the top of Blues Point Road. We add circuits, rework lighting for new layouts and plan noisy work outside office hours.

Our licensed crew has worked through McMahons Point cottages first subdivided in the 1870s and through mid-century blocks, so we know how cable was run in both.

One written fixed amount follows our inspection. A unit high in Blues Point Tower and a cottage near Sawmillers Reserve get separate quotes, since access and cable paths differ.

When a Blues Point Road cafe loses power before the breakfast crowd or a flat goes dark on a Tuesday night, we move your job forward that same day.

Among our 250+ customers are McMahons Point renters, landlords, strata committees and studio owners, many sent our way by a neighbour further down the peninsula.

Labour on each circuit we install in a McMahons Point flat, cottage or office is covered for life, including cable hidden inside sandstone and old brick walls.

Tell us your street and whether the block has an intercom, a lift or a steep stair from the road. We then pick a slot around your work or your tenants.

Once we have opened the board and checked cable routes, you receive a single written figure that covers the job, with plain notes explaining each item of work.

Parking on the lower peninsula is tight, so we plan where the van goes before arriving. If the Warringah Freeway slows us, you get a call with a revised time.

Drop sheets protect timber floors and carpet, every offcut leaves in our van, and you receive your compliance paperwork with a brief list of what we changed.

Spyro started our business in 2017, and as the crew grew past five licensed electricians, McMahons Point became a regular stop on our lower North Shore run. The peninsula rewards patience: brick cottages from the 1800s, a Harry Seidler era tower and commercial floors near North Sydney all in a few blocks. We treat each one on its merits, and the same electrician usually sees a job through from first visit to sign-off.

The middle and southern parts of the McMahons Point peninsula were subdivided by the 1870s, and a tram line reached here in 1909, so much of the housing is well over a century old. With 86.4 per cent of dwellings attached or apartments, rewiring usually means working around party walls, shared ceilings and strata rules.

Each McMahons Point job ends with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, as NSW requires. In cottages built when the peninsula was first subdivided, any original wiring we disturb is either brought up to current standard or noted in writing for you. AS/NZS 3000 also means that once we touch a switchboard, every final subcircuit gains RCD cover, and Type AC devices have been off the table for new work since 1 May 2023.
You get a fixed written price after we inspect, never a rough phone guess. The difference matters here: fitting a few lights in a newer apartment near North Sydney might take one morning, while the same fittings in a two-storey Munro Street cottage can mean crawling beneath floors and chasing brick. Seeing it first lets us quote one honest number.
A fuse board in a cottage near Berrys Bay, an agent chasing alarm paperwork, or a Blues Point Road studio short on power? Call 02 8999 3691 and a licensed electrician will inspect the job and give you a written fixed price, with our labour guaranteed for life.
McMahons Point tenants, landlords, cottage owners, strata committees and studio operators ask us these questions most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Most days, yes. Our vans work weekdays from 7am until 5:30pm and Saturdays from 7am until 2pm, and the lower North Shore sits on our regular route. Ring 02 8999 3691 early and we can usually book you in before closing. If you can smell burning or the main switch refuses to stay up, say so straight away and that call moves ahead of routine work.
We look first, then write one fixed price. On this peninsula two jobs that sound the same can differ widely: extending a circuit in a lift-served apartment is quick, while doing it in an 1800s brick cottage with no wall cavity takes much longer. After the inspection you get the figure in writing, and it only changes if you ask for extra work.
It is worth checking. Many McMahons Point cottages were rewired in stages, so we often find cloth or rubber insulated cable joined to newer PVC, earths missing and ceramic fuses fitted with heavy wire. Those setups rarely include RCDs. We test each circuit, tell you which are sound and quote an upgrade that suits the house and your budget.
That depends on where it sits. Wiring past your own unit board is normally the lot owner’s responsibility, while main boards, risers, lobby and stair lighting usually belong to common property. With 62.8 per cent of McMahons Point dwellings being flats, we sort this out often. We find the fault, then give you and the strata manager the same written report.
Every storey needs a working alarm, the landlord has two business days to fix one once told it has failed, and any alarm past ten years from its manufacture date must be replaced. Hard-wired alarms have to be fitted by a licensed electrician. With just over half of local homes rented, we do a lot of alarm testing between tenancies and leave dated records.
Often, if you have a dedicated space. The Census counted 1.2 cars per McMahons Point dwelling, and most sit in basement bays or small carports. We check spare capacity at the board, confirm the owners corporation is happy, then run a separate circuit to your space. We cannot install chargers on the street or footpath, because that is council land.
Yes, that is how we prefer to work. In cottages near Sawmillers Reserve and East Crescent we lift a few floorboards, use roof space where it exists and fish cable through old wall voids. New switches and outlets are placed to suit the room, and outdoor fittings are chosen so they sit quietly against sandstone and brick rather than stand out.
We do. The top of Blues Point Road holds advertising, publishing, engineering and architecture businesses in small commercial floors. We rearrange power and data points for new desks, install emergency and exit lighting, fix LED lighting that flickers and schedule disruptive work early or late so staff can keep working.
It can be. Flickering in older common areas often comes from worn fittings, loose terminations or a shared circuit that is overloaded. In McMahons Point blocks from the post-war era we also find brittle rubber insulated cable. We test the circuit, replace faulty parts, and quote LED fittings with sensors if the committee wants lower running costs.
