Orchards and market gardens covered this ground until after World War II, and the Cronulla rail branch arrived in 1939, so Caringbah homes are mostly post-war. At the 2021 Census, 38.2 per cent of Caringbah homes were rented, above the 32.6 per cent state figure, and most of that stock is units and townhouses. Property managers in 2229 therefore book alarm work more often than owners in the surrounding house suburbs.

Most days, yes. Caringbah is central to the routes our vans run, and we work weekdays between 7am and 5:30pm plus Saturdays from 7am until 2pm. It depends on the building more than the task. Extending a circuit inside a modern townhouse near Port Hacking Road South is quick, whereas the same job in an older walk-up with a shared meter room may need strata approval and longer cable runs.
