The peninsula has no separate houses at all in the 2021 Census: 93.7 per cent of dwellings are flats, 5.7 per cent terraces or townhouses, and 51 per cent of homes have two bedrooms. Most apartments came after renewal began in 1992, when the population had collapsed to about 1,800 by 1978. Older stock survives in sandstone terraces on Harris Street, Paternoster Row and around Union Square. We handle LED lighting swaps, unit board upgrades, extra circuits for home offices and careful rewires in the heritage rows.

Pyrmont is a working district again, with Google, Accenture and Network 10 based here alongside The Star, the Sydney Fish Market and restored sugar refinery buildings. For offices, studios and shops we run data cabling, add circuits for new layouts and handle lighting and power in refurbished heritage buildings.

Same-day service reaches every Pyrmont street, from Pirrama Road round to Bank Street and Wentworth Park. Calls we get often: a unit switchboard tripping as soon as the oven and air conditioner run together, a dead lobby light circuit in a 1990s block, and a Harris Street shop losing power mid-trade.
Unit owners, renters and small businesses fill most of our Pyrmont diary. With 61.7 per cent of homes leased, property managers need alarm changeovers on tight timelines, while owners in the first wave of 1990s apartments now want tired halogen lighting and cramped boards replaced. As your Pyrmont electrician we also look after the sandstone terraces near Union Square, where old circuits have been extended one room at a time.
Office tenants along Harris Street and Pyrmont Bridge Road bring fit-out and data work, and cafes near the light rail stops need circuits that cope with a lunch rush. We book loading docks and lift slots ahead, and when a fault leaves a unit or a shop in the dark we send an emergency electrician across the City of Sydney to make it safe.

Renewal from 1992 brought most of today's apartment blocks. Their boards and halogen lighting are now three decades old, so we upgrade unit switchboards and swap fittings for efficient LEDs.
Union Square is a heritage precinct of terraces, shops and a pub. We rewire these narrow sandstone and brick homes internally, keeping meter boxes and new fittings off the street face.
Former industrial buildings such as The Cooperage and Tablet House now hold homes and offices. We plan power and data for open floors and work around heritage beams and brickwork.
About 62 per cent of Pyrmont homes are rented. Between leases we replace expired smoke alarms, test RCDs and give the agent dated records for the landlord.

Every licensed member of our crew has worked in the 1990s concrete blocks at Jacksons Landing as well as the Victorian terraces off Union Square, and wires each one to suit its structure.

A two-bed unit near John Street Square and a terrace on Paternoster Row get their own written figure, fixed once we have checked the board and access.

If a Harris Street shop goes dark or a unit loses power before a work call, we reshuffle the day to get an electrician across the peninsula quickly.

Our 250+ customers include Pyrmont apartment owners, landlords and office managers, many of whom came to us through a strata manager or building concierge.

Labour on every circuit we install in a Pyrmont unit, terrace or office is guaranteed for life, including cabling behind new plasterboard in restored refinery buildings.

Give us your building name and whether there is a loading dock, visitor bay or concierge. We then book a time that fits your lift rules and working hours.

After inspecting the unit board and the cable paths, we explain what is needed in plain terms and email one fixed price before we start anything.

Street parking near Harris Street is limited, so we plan where the van stops and arrive inside the agreed window, calling if Western Distributor traffic delays us.

We protect lift walls and floors, remove all offcuts and send the compliance certificate with a short note on which circuits changed for your strata records.

Since Spyro opened the business in 2017, our five-plus licensed electricians have taken on steady work across the Pyrmont peninsula. The mix suits us: concrete apartment blocks from the 1990s renewal, heritage terraces near Union Square and offices where downtime costs money. One crew handles your job from first inspection to final test, so the electrician who quoted your Jacksons Landing unit is the one who wires it.

Spyro speaking. If your Pyrmont unit board keeps tripping, or your Harris Street office needs more power and data, my number is 02 8999 3691; one of our licensed crew can be over to sort it.

Pyrmont went from a population of about 1,800 in 1978 to a business district again, with corporate headquarters, media companies and tech firms taking space in new towers and restored refinery buildings. Office fit-outs and data work are the commercial jobs we quote most in 2009.

Each Pyrmont visit closes with the Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work that state law demands. In Victorian sandstone terraces, any old wiring we disturb is either made compliant or flagged to you in writing. When we change a board, AS/NZS 3000 brings RCD cover to all final subcircuits, and Type AC safety switches have been excluded from new work since 1 May 2023.
We quote a fixed figure in writing after seeing the job. In Pyrmont that inspection matters: swapping downlights in a newer Jacksons Landing apartment with ceiling access is quick, while the same job in a Victorian terrace near Union Square means working around plaster, joists and brick walls. So we look first, explain the scope and then commit to one number.
Tired lighting in a Jacksons Landing unit, alarm paperwork due for your agent, or an office on Harris Street that needs data and power? Dial 02 8999 3691 so a licensed electrician can assess it, walk you through the choices and put a fixed figure in writing, with lifetime labour cover.
Pyrmont unit owners, renters, strata committees and office managers ask us these questions most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Usually. Vans roll out at 7am and finish at 5:30pm Monday to Friday, with a 7am to 2pm Saturday shift and Sunday off. Pyrmont sits a short hop from our daily CBD jobs, so ringing 02 8999 3691 before mid-morning tends to land a visit that day. A hot board, sparking outlet or burning smell takes priority.
We inspect before we price. A new outlet in a 1990s unit with an accessible ceiling is simple; the same job in a sandstone terrace with plaster walls and old cable takes much more time. Once we have seen the work, you get a fixed written price that holds unless you change the scope.
Many Pyrmont apartments from the 1990s renewal have small boards with circuits shared between kitchen appliances and air conditioning. When heavy loads start together, an overloaded circuit or an ageing RCD trips. We measure the load, move heavy appliances onto their own dedicated circuits and outlets and upgrade the board if needed, so everyday use no longer cuts the power.
That depends on where it sits. Wiring from your unit board into your rooms usually belongs to the lot owner, while main switchboards, risers, corridor and car park lighting are generally common property. With 93.7 per cent of Pyrmont dwellings being flats, we untangle this often. We find the fault, then report to you and the strata manager in writing.
Many are. Union Square is a recognised heritage precinct, and buildings along Harris Street, Union Street and Paternoster Row are listed. Internal rewiring is normally fine, provided new conduit, meter boxes and lights stay off the street face and original plaster and joinery are protected. Check approval needs with the City of Sydney if unsure.
A working alarm is required on each storey, a fault the tenant reports has to be fixed within two business days, and alarms reaching ten years from manufacture must be swapped out. Hard-wired units need a licensed electrician. As 61.7 per cent of local homes are rented, we do plenty of these checks and leave dated records for the agent.
Often, with strata approval. Many Pyrmont blocks have basement parking, and the Census shows 0.9 vehicles per dwelling. We work out how much headroom the main board has, lay a separate feed to your space with its own metering if the building wants it, and install the charger. Where many residents want charging, we can advise the committee on a shared plan.
It can. Buildings facing Pirrama Park, Darling Island and Blackwattle Bay take salty wind that corrodes outdoor lights, balcony fittings and exposed terminals faster than inland. We fit sealed outdoor fittings rated for the location, check terminations for corrosion and trace tripping caused by moisture getting into balcony circuits.
Yes. Ground-floor tenancies along Harris Street and near the light rail stops change use regularly. We check the supply to the tenancy, rearrange circuits for coffee machines, ovens and refrigeration, install lighting and exit signs, and schedule shutdowns outside trading hours so you lose as little business as possible.
All of Pyrmont 2009, including Harris Street, Union Square, Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont Bridge Road, Paternoster Row, Jacksons Landing, Pirrama Road, John Street Square, Bank Street and the Fish Market area. We also work daily in Ultimo, Darling Harbour, Glebe, Haymarket, Barangaroo and the Sydney CBD.
