Current Rozelle deals apply from the Darling Street cafes to the cottages behind Victoria Road, around Callan Park and the new Rozelle Parklands, and up to the Iron Cove Bridge end. Say you saw this offer when you ring and the saving comes straight off the Rozelle quote.

Rozelle grew on small working-class plots: Alfred Hancock sold around 1,600 lots on easy terms, and many first cottages were weatherboard and corrugated iron. Today the 2021 Census shows 38.8 per cent terraces and townhouses, 34.9 per cent flats and only 24.5 per cent detached houses. We rewire narrow cottages, add circuits to lean-to kitchens, replace crowded meter boards and wire the renovated rear pavilions that now fill so many Rozelle backyards.

Darling Street and Victoria Road carry patisseries, beauty and nail salons, interior decorators and alfresco cafes, with the Saturday market at Rozelle Public School nearby. We handle shop and salon electrical: dedicated circuits for dryers and espresso machines, display lighting, exit signs and tidy switchboards in tight rear storerooms.

Same-day service covers the whole 2039 peninsula, from White Bay to Iron Cove. Typical urgent jobs here: a corroded board in a timber cottage near Victoria Road, a flooded outdoor socket after a southerly, a salon losing power mid-booking, or dead stair lights in an apartment block.
Our Rozelle regulars are young families renovating old workers’ cottages, owners in the apartment blocks built on former industrial land, and the shopkeepers of Darling Street. Around 41.7 per cent of Rozelle families are couples with kids, so we get plenty of calls for extra kitchen circuits, study power and LED downlights in freshly opened-up living areas. Landlords make up a big share too, since 39.6 per cent of homes were rented at the last Census.
The peninsula has a long electrical history of its own: Balmain Power Station stood beside Iron Cove, and the White Bay Power Station fed Sydney for about 70 years until 1983. Our work is humbler. As a Rozelle electrician we trace faults in patched cottage wiring, upgrade tired boards, fit EV chargers where a lane garage allows, and take urgent electrical calls across the Inner West.

Thousands of small plots sold from the 1870s became single-fronted cottages, many first built in timber and iron. We replace brittle wiring, add earthing and run new circuits without gutting original ceilings.
Almost 39 per cent of Rozelle dwellings are terraces or townhouses. We sort out shared meter panels, confirm which cables belong to each lot and brief the strata manager in writing.
Flats make up 34.9 per cent of homes, including blocks on the former Balmain Power Station site. We upgrade unit boards, fix tripping kitchen circuits and add power for home offices.
Salons, patisseries and decorators line Darling Street and Victoria Road. We run dedicated feeds for heavy equipment, fit display lighting and schedule noisy work before the doors open.

Our licensed people have pulled cable through dozens of Rozelle weatherboard and brick cottages and know how Hancock-era homes were extended, patched and rewired over a century.

After a look at your board and cable routes, you get one figure in writing. A Victoria Road flat and a Darling Street cottage are priced separately because the labour differs.

When a Rozelle kitchen goes dark or a salon’s power trips before opening, we shuffle the run sheet and send the nearest licensed electrician across the Anzac Bridge.

Plenty of our 250+ customers live or trade in Rozelle, from strata owners near the old power station sites to Darling Street shopkeepers who booked us twice.

Wiring, fittings and boards we put into a Rozelle cottage or apartment carry a labour guarantee that never expires, however many tenants or renovations follow.

Book online or by phone and mention if parking is permit-only in your street or if the cottage opens onto a back lane. We fit your slot around work, school runs or trading.

We inspect first, walk you through what the old Rozelle wiring needs, then email a fixed figure you can approve before any tools come out.

Rozelle traffic around the interchange can be slow, so we leave early and call if running late. Your electrician arrives inside the window we agreed.

Floorboards and tiles get covered, offcuts go back in our van, and you receive your compliance paperwork plus a clear note on every circuit changed.

From a one-van start under Spyro in 2017, we have grown into a crew of five-plus licensed electricians who work the Rozelle peninsula most weeks. Old cottages here teach patience: brittle cable in crawl spaces, boards squeezed behind front doors, extensions wired by three different owners. We enjoy untangling that, and we take the same care in the newer apartment blocks near Iron Cove and in the salons and cafes on Darling Street.

Nearly two thirds of Rozelle homes are terraces, townhouses or flats, and much of the cottage stock dates from the land sales of the 1870s and 1880s. Those homes often still run on a ceramic fuse panel or a board with only one or two RCDs, which is why board upgrades lead our Rozelle quotes.

Each Rozelle job closes with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work lodged in your name, as the state regulator expects. Cottages sold off in the Hancock era have usually been rewired in patches, so anything we disturb is either made compliant or written up for you. If the board is altered, AS/NZS 3000 calls for RCDs across the final subcircuits, and fresh installs have excluded Type AC devices from 1 May 2023.
You see our fixed number before any work begins. Guessing by phone is unreliable in Rozelle: adding a circuit in a newer unit near Iron Cove can be quick, while doing the same in a single-fronted timber cottage off Victoria Road may mean crawling under floors and cutting into old lath. So we visit, measure and put one price on paper.
Fuses still in the hallway of your Rozelle cottage, an agent chasing smoke alarm paperwork, or a Darling Street shop fit-out on a deadline? Phone 02 8999 3691 and book an on-site look. You will get one written number, and our labour stays guaranteed for the life of the job.
Rozelle cottage owners, apartment residents, landlords and Darling Street traders tend to ask us the following. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Quite often, yes. Vans roll out at 7am on weekdays and finish at 5:30pm, Saturdays run 7am until 2pm, and Sundays we rest. Rozelle sits right on our regular route over the Anzac Bridge, so ringing 02 8999 3691 before mid-morning often gets a visit by afternoon. A hot switch, burning smell or main switch that will not reset is handled before routine bookings.
We look before we quote. Two Rozelle jobs that sound identical can take very different time: new power in a recent apartment near the Parklands is straightforward, whereas the same outlet in a timber cottage may need cable fished through a sealed wall. Once we have seen it, the number goes on paper and holds unless you add extras.
Rozelle cottages have been extended and rewired bit by bit for well over a century. We regularly find rubber-insulated cable joined to modern PVC, missing earths on lighting circuits, overloaded kitchen power and ceramic fuse panels. Timber houses also suffer from pests and damp under the floor, which damages cable. We test each circuit, show you what is sound and quote a staged plan if a full rewire is not needed yet.
Usually wiring beyond your own meter or sub-board belongs to the lot, while the main board, meter room, driveway lights and shared hallways are common property. With terraces, townhouses and flats making up almost three quarters of Rozelle dwellings, this comes up constantly. We locate the fault first and give the owner and strata manager a written finding so the bill lands in the right place.
Some. Rozelle has heritage items such as Callan Park, the White Bay Power Station, Rozelle Public School and St Paul’s Presbyterian Church, and Inner West Council also controls streetscapes in older areas. Internal rewiring is generally fine. The care goes into keeping meter boxes, conduits and outdoor lights discreet on street elevations. If you are unsure about approval for external work, check with the council before we start.
Each storey needs a working alarm, a reported fault has a two business day repair deadline, and alarms are swapped out at ten years from manufacture. A hard-wired alarm must be installed by a licensed electrician. About four in ten Rozelle homes are leased, so we do a lot of changeover visits for agents, including smoke alarm testing with dated records for the file.
Only where there is a legal off-street space, such as a lane garage, a carport behind the cottage or a strata car bay. Rozelle averages 1.3 vehicles per dwelling, and many streets are kerbside only. Where a spot exists, we check the spare capacity on your board, run a dedicated circuit and mount the charger. We cannot run a lead across a public footpath.
Yes. Darling Street and Victoria Road are full of beauty and nail salons, patisseries and cafes, many in older shopfronts with limited supply. We add dedicated circuits for dryers, ovens and coffee machines, fit bright even lighting for treatment rooms, install exit signs and emergency lights, and schedule the loud work outside your trading hours.
It can. Low-lying streets near Iron Cove and Rozelle Bay cop wind-driven rain, and outdoor sockets, garden lights and sub-floor cabling in timber cottages are the usual casualties. If a safety switch trips after a storm, leave it off and call us. We dry, test and replace damaged fittings, then fit weatherproof outlets rated for the spot.
Yes to both. Spyro started the business in 2017 and every one of our five-plus electricians holds a current licence and full insurance. Labour on anything we install in Rozelle is guaranteed for life, and every job comes with the NSW compliance certificate.
