Live near the Ross Street cafes, rent a room off Wigram Road or own one of the new Harold Park apartments? Our running Forest Lodge deals also stretch to Bridge Road and the lanes by Lew Hoad Reserve. Bring up the special when you book and it comes off your job.

This pocket of 2037 is small, about 0.45 square kilometres, yet the 2021 Census logged 4,965 residents living in 61.6 per cent flats and 34.6 per cent semis, terraces or townhouses, with detached homes at just 3.5 per cent. A good share of the old Victorian stock has been carved into apartment houses, which leaves shared meters, patched circuits and tired fuse carriers. We sort rewiring in split-up Victorian houses, add circuits to cramped kitchens and tidy the boards in the medium-density blocks rising on the old Harold Park track.

Trade here clusters where Ross Street meets St Johns Road: a string of bars, cafes and antique dealers, plus the Forest Lodge Hotel. We look after shop and hospitality circuits, bar fridges and coffee machine feeds, lighting upgrades and test-and-tag style maintenance, timed around opening hours so the front door never has to close.

Forest Lodge sits a short drive from our usual inner-west runs, so same-day service is normal here. Typical urgent calls: a converted Victorian flat whose old fuse keeps blowing, a share house left dark after a heater overload, or a tripped Ross Street cafe circuit before the lunch crowd.
Students fill a lot of Forest Lodge homes, with the University of Sydney and UTS both close, and the Census shows 61.1 per cent of dwellings leased. That makes landlords and agents a big part of our client list here, alongside young owners renovating a Victorian cottage and newer residents in the Harold Park blocks. As a Forest Lodge electrician we swap tired boards, add outlets for desks and study nooks, and fix lights that have been dead since the last tenancy.
Streets change character quickly across the suburb. Around Wigram Road and Minogue Crescent we see older semis with patchy earthing; nearer Pyrmont Bridge Road it is apartment houses with a common meter panel downstairs. For a scorched outlet or a power loss that will not reset, book an urgent electrician and we move the job ahead across the City of Sydney.

Much of the Victorian housing here was converted into apartment houses. We untangle shared circuits, give each flat its own protected board where possible and replace cloth-covered cable found behind original ceilings.
The former paceway site was sold in 2010 for medium-density housing. In these newer blocks we add EV-ready circuits, extra lighting and outlets, and work with building managers on common-area access.
With so many residents studying or working in computing, we fit extra power points and data cabling so desks, monitors and routers stop hanging off a single overloaded double outlet.
The small strip around Ross Street and St Johns Road mixes bars, cafes and antique stores. We handle lighting refits, dedicated appliance circuits and fault finding without disrupting trade.

Our licensed crew knows the Victorian houses of Forest Lodge, including the ones split into flats, where one hallway can hide three generations of cable joined behind the plaster.

After we have seen the board and the cable routes we write down one figure. A student flat on Wigram Road and a whole Ross Street terrace are priced separately, on their merits.

When a share house near Lew Hoad Reserve loses power or a cafe fridge circuit drops out, that call jumps ahead of routine bookings and a van heads over the same day.

Among our 250+ customers are Forest Lodge landlords, students, cottage owners and Ross Street traders, many of whom were pointed our way by a neighbour or their agent.

Each circuit we run in a Forest Lodge flat, terrace or shop carries a lifetime guarantee on our labour, so a rewire hidden in old lath walls stays our responsibility.

Call or send a message naming your street and whether it is a flat, share house or terrace. We pick a slot around lectures, tenants or trading hours.

We look at the board, check the cable paths and explain what we found in plain terms, and email a fixed written quote while the power is still on.

Kerb space near the Forest Lodge Public School corner fills early, so we plan where the van stops and turn up inside the window agreed, or ring first.

Offcuts and dust leave with us, floorboards get covered while we work, and you receive the compliance paperwork plus a quick outline of which circuits changed.

Back in 2017 Spyro opened the doors, and our crew has since grown to more than five licensed electricians, several of whom know Forest Lodge streets by heart. The place rewards patience. Victorian homes here were often subdivided decades ago, so a simple light job can uncover a shared neutral or a missing earth. We take the time to trace those faults properly, explain them to owners and agents, and leave each home safer than we found it.

At the 2021 Census, 61.1 per cent of Forest Lodge dwellings were rented, almost double the NSW figure of 32.6 per cent. Add a big student population and frequent tenancy changes, and smoke alarm compliance is the job agents here ask about most.

Once the tools are packed in Forest Lodge, a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work is lodged under your name. In Victorian houses split into flats, we often find old circuits spliced into newer ones, and anything we disturb gets brought up to standard or noted in writing. Change or replace a board and AS/NZS 3000 requires RCD protection across the final subcircuits, and since 1 May 2023 Type AC units cannot be used in new work, so our safety switches are Type A or higher.
Phone guesses do not work well in Forest Lodge. Adding a light in a recent Harold Park apartment is quick, with open ceiling space and modern cable. The same fitting in a subdivided Victorian house off Wigram Road may involve lifting boards and tracing a circuit shared with the flat upstairs. We inspect first, then give you one fixed figure in writing that holds unless you change the scope.
A blowing fuse in a converted flat, smoke alarms due before the next lease, or a cafe on Ross Street that needs more capacity? Ring 02 8999 3691. We will inspect the job in person, put a fixed price in writing and stand behind our labour for life.
Forest Lodge landlords, students, owners of Victorian houses and Ross Street traders tend to ask us these. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Most days we can. Vans run Monday to Friday from 7am to 5:30pm and Saturday from 7am to 2pm, with Sunday off. Forest Lodge is close to the inner-west streets we already cover, and ringing 02 8999 3691 before mid-morning generally secures a same-day visit. Say so if you notice a burning smell or the main switch will not stay up, since those get priority.
We see the job before naming a number. Forest Lodge has everything from new Harold Park apartments to Victorian houses split into several flats, and the time needed can differ a great deal between them. After inspecting, we give you a fixed figure in writing. That number holds unless you widen the job, and we confirm any change with you first.
Sometimes, but it pays to check. When these houses were converted, circuits were often extended rather than replaced, so we find shared neutrals between flats, missing earths and fuse boards with no RCDs. We test each circuit, label which flat it feeds, and quote options ranging from targeted repairs to a full rewire, with the work staged so tenants are not left without power for long.
Each level of the dwelling has to carry a working alarm. When a tenant flags a dead one, the owner has two business days to get it repaired, and units a decade past their manufacture date come out. Any hard-wired unit needs a licensed electrician to fit it. With more than six in ten homes here leased, we do plenty of changeover checks for agents and leave dated records for the landlord.
Yes. Residents here often study or work from home, and older rooms may have a single outlet on the wrong wall. We add double outlets where you need them, run data points to desks, and check that the circuit can carry a computer, monitors and a heater together. In a rental, we confirm the landlord has approved the work before we start.
That depends on where the fault lies. Wiring after your own unit board is normally yours, while main switchrooms, car park lighting and corridor circuits belong to the owners corporation. We trace the problem first, then write up our findings so you and the building manager can agree who books the repair.
It depends on parking. Many Victorian homes here have no driveway, and census figures show only 14.4 per cent of workers commute by car. Where you have a garage, a rear lane space or a strata bay, we measure how much headroom the board has, lay a separate cable to the parking spot and fix the unit to the wall. We cannot install chargers on public footpaths.
We do. The strip around Ross Street and St Johns Road has bars, cafes and antique stores in older buildings with limited original supply. We add dedicated circuits for coffee machines and fridges, replace old fluorescent fittings with LED downlights, and install exit and emergency lighting, scheduling noisy work before opening.
Much of the housing here is Victorian, and the City of Sydney controls changes to building exteriors in its conservation areas. Internal rewiring rarely needs approval, but we keep new meter boxes, conduits and outdoor lights away from street facades and protect original plaster and joinery. If you are unsure whether your street is covered, check with the council before external work.
Every street in Forest Lodge 2037, taking in Ross Street, St Johns Road, Pyrmont Bridge Road, Bridge Road, Wigram Road, Minogue Crescent, Lew Hoad Reserve, the Chapman Steps area and the Harold Park blocks near Johnstons Creek.
