Ashfield is a flat-dweller’s suburb. The 2021 Census counted 69.9 per cent flats or apartments, over three times the state share, with 22.1 per cent separate houses and 7.4 per cent semis. Grand Victorian houses were knocked down in the 1920s and 1930s for small art deco blocks, then larger walk-ups followed in the 1960s and 1970s. Federation houses survive between them. We handle unit board upgrades, extra power in two-bedroom flats, lighting and rewires in older houses.

The main shopping precinct runs along Liverpool Road south of the station, with Ashfield Mall, office blocks and street-level shops, and spills into Charlotte and Elizabeth Streets. Parramatta Road carries automotive retail and light industry. We cover shop fit-outs, food retail circuits, signage, data and three-phase supply for these businesses.

Our same-day service reaches every part of Ashfield, from Parramatta Road to Yeo Park. The urgent calls we see most are a dead switchboard in a 1960s walk-up, a Liverpool Road shop losing power mid-morning, stair lights out in a block, or a burning smell from a tired power point.
Half of Ashfield rents: 50.5 per cent of dwellings in the 2021 Census, well above the NSW figure of 32.6. So much of our work comes through agents, landlords and strata managers who need alarms, safe boards and quick repairs between tenancies. Owners of older houses call us for rewires, and the shops and offices around Liverpool Road need a reliable Ashfield electrician to keep trading.
The jobs change from one block to the next. North of the station around Alt Street and Charlotte Street, Victorian homes such as Amesbury stand near St John’s, the suburb’s oldest building; south of the centre, Norton and Victoria Streets still hold houses from the 1860s to 1880s such as Plynlimmon and Glentworth. Tracing a fault through a shared meter room, rewiring a century-old house or answering an urgent electrical call are all regular work for our crew across the Inner West.

Many of Ashfield's 69.9 per cent flats are in blocks built from the 1960s. We upgrade unit boards, repair common lighting and intercoms, and separate lot faults from owners corporation responsibilities.
Homes such as Amesbury and Ashfield Castle recall the suburb's grand era. We rewire older houses with care for cornices, ceiling roses and joinery, and keep new fittings discreet.
The main shopping strip south of the station has shops, offices and Ashfield Mall. We add circuits for food counters and refrigeration, upgrade shop lighting and fit exit signs around trading hours.
Ashfield's second commercial strip carries automotive retail and light industry. We supply three-phase power, workshop lighting and equipment circuits, and keep showrooms and service bays running.

Ashfield’s housing is varied, and our licensed crew knows how each type tends to be wired, from art deco blocks and 1960s walk-ups to Federation-era detached houses.

We see the job, then give you one written number. A two-bedroom flat near the station and a Victorian house on Norton Street each get their own quote.

A dead shop circuit on Liverpool Road or a failed board in a rented unit is moved up our list so an electrician reaches you quickly.

Ashfield landlords, renters, strata committees and shop owners make up many of our 250+ customers, and property managers here refer us regularly.

Our labour on anything installed in an Ashfield flat, house or shop is guaranteed permanently, so you are covered well into the future.

Give us your address and access details, such as a building intercom, meter room key or loading zone. We then book a time that suits you or your tenant.

Our electrician studies the board, follows the cable paths, walks you through the plan and emails one fixed amount, so the final bill matches what you agreed.

Liverpool Road and the station area get busy, so we plan where the van will go and arrive inside the window we promised.

Floors and furniture are protected, rubbish goes with us, and you receive the compliance certificate plus a short summary for the owner or agent.

Our five-plus licensed electricians trace back to 2017, when Spyro opened for business. Ashfield keeps us busy with work for landlords and strata managers, Victorian and Federation house rewires, and fit-outs for shops along Liverpool Road. Whether it is a smoke alarm job for an agent or a new board for a walk-up, one electrician usually stays with the job from start to finish.

Just over half of Ashfield’s dwellings are rented, and 51.6 per cent have two bedrooms, the classic walk-up unit. Agents and landlords here need alarms that meet the rules at every tenancy change, so smoke alarm work is a bigger share of our Ashfield jobs than almost anywhere we go.

Ashfield clients receive a CCEW at the end of each visit, which is the state’s formal record of compliant work. In walk-ups from the 1960s and houses more than a century old, we either fix old wiring we disturb or note it in writing. AS/NZS 3000 requires RCD protection on all final subcircuits when a board is replaced or altered, and we fit Type A or better, because 1 May 2023 ended the use of Type AC devices in fresh installations.
We give you a fixed price in writing before any work starts. A new light in a two-bedroom walk-up near the station can be quick, while the same job in a Victorian house on Alt Street may involve high ceilings, old cable and careful work around plaster. So we inspect first, explain the job and commit to one figure.
Smoke alarm deadline from your agent, a lighting fault in your Ashfield block, or a Liverpool Road shop that needs more power? Ring 02 8999 3691 and we will send someone licensed to size it up, set the price on paper and stand behind the labour permanently.
Ashfield landlords, renters, strata committees, home owners and shopkeepers ask us these most often. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
In most cases, yes. Weekday bookings run 7am through 5:30pm and Saturday ones 7am through 2pm, with Sunday closed. Ashfield sits on Parramatta and Liverpool Roads, which we use every day, so an early call to 02 8999 3691 usually gets someone to you the same day. Burning smells, sparks or a dead board are handled first.
We quote after we see the job. Adding a power point in a walk-up with an accessible ceiling is simple, but the same request in a Victorian house with high ornate ceilings and old cable takes more time. Once we inspect, the written figure we give you holds unless you extend the job.
Every level needs a working smoke alarm. Once a tenant flags a faulty alarm, the two-business-day repair window starts, and a unit older than ten years from its manufacture stamp has to come out. Only a licensed electrician may fit the hard-wired type. With half of Ashfield’s homes rented, we do this work every week and offer smoke alarm testing between tenants.
It depends where the fault is. Wiring from your unit’s board to your rooms is usually the lot owner’s responsibility, while main boards, meter rooms, stair and car park lighting and intercoms are normally common property. With 69.9 per cent of Ashfield dwellings being flats, we answer this often. After pinpointing the fault, we tell you and the strata manager in writing whose job it is.
Often it is. Many blocks from the 1960s and 1970s still have original unit boards with limited RCD protection, and they struggle with modern air conditioners, dryers and kitchen appliances. Nuisance tripping can also come from a damaged appliance or moisture in a circuit. We test and isolate the cause, then quote a board upgrade if that is what is needed.
Yes. Ashfield’s surviving grand homes date from the 1860s to the 1880s, and many Federation houses have been rewired only in parts. We replace old cable, add earthing and new circuits, and protect cornices, ceiling roses and original joinery. We can stage the work so the family can stay in the house.
Yes. The Liverpool Road precinct and the streets north of the station are full of shops, and many need more capacity than older tenancies were built for. We run dedicated circuits for refrigeration and food equipment, fit commercial lighting and exit signs, and book noisy work outside trading hours.
We can. Ashfield’s Parramatta Road strip is mostly automotive retail and light industry, which often needs three-phase power, workshop lighting and dedicated circuits for compressors and hoists. We assess the supply, install new circuits and look after ongoing maintenance, working around your service bay bookings.
Sometimes. Ashfield averages 1.1 vehicles per dwelling, and most homes are units, so chargers usually go into basement or garage car spaces. Because that wiring is normally common property, we work with the strata committee first, check the building’s capacity and then run a dedicated circuit to the space.
Yes. Each of our tradesmen carries an NSW electrical licence plus insurance, the business dates to 2017 with Spyro at the helm, and labour on everything we install is guaranteed for life. Each job comes with a CCEW for your records, which agents and strata managers can keep on file.
We cover all of Ashfield 2131, including Liverpool Road, Ashfield Mall, Charlotte, Elizabeth, Alt, Norton, Bland, Victoria, Frederick and Orpington Streets, and the areas around Ashfield Park, Pratten Park, Hammond Park and Yeo Park. We also work in Summer Hill, Haberfield, Croydon, Ashbury, Dulwich Hill, Croydon Park and Lewisham.
