Current Camperdown deals cover the Missenden Road flats, the terraces around Camperdown Park, Australia Street and Hopetoun Street, plus shops along Parramatta Road near Victoria Park. Mention these specials during your booking call so the saving is applied to the job.

Camperdown is flat and terrace country. Of occupied dwellings counted in the 2021 Census, 73.6 per cent were flats or apartments and 22.7 per cent semis, terraces or townhouses, while separate houses made up just 3.1 per cent. Streets off Australia Street hold rows of single-storey Victorian terraces, a few rare weatherboard terraces and Federation semis, and the old children’s hospital grounds now hold apartment complexes. We handle rewiring for Victorian cottages, board changes in cramped meter cupboards and extra power for studios, which made up 5.5 per cent of homes.

Health and learning dominate commercial Camperdown. Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the University of Sydney fill much of the suburb, while the Parramatta Road edge carries pubs such as the Camperdown Hotel, shops and small offices. We take on commercial electrical work for clinics, cafes, studios and retail tenancies close to those anchors, from new circuits to lighting changes and tenancy alterations.

Camperdown gets our same-day service on weekdays and Saturdays until 2pm. Typical urgent jobs here: a terrace whose ageing wiring shorts after rain gets into the roof, a unit block stairwell left dark, a share house where one overloaded power board keeps tripping the RCD, and a Parramatta Road shop losing a circuit before opening.
Renters make up most of our Camperdown customer list. The 2021 Census recorded 61.1 per cent of homes as rented and 41.7 per cent of households as one person living alone, so agents, landlords and single tenants call us far more often than families do. Hospital staff living near Missenden Road, postgraduate students in shared terraces and owners renovating around Camperdown Park all need a Camperdown electrician who works neatly in small rooms and old walls.
Jobs vary a lot across the 1.5 square kilometres between Parramatta Road and Newtown. We swap ceramic fuses for modern boards, add extra power points for home offices, since 53 per cent of employed residents said they worked from home on Census day, and replace hard-wired smoke alarms between leases. For an urgent fault in a Camperdown terrace, we reach the suburb quickly from our usual runs across the Inner West.

Camperdown has long rows of modest Victorian terraces plus some rare weatherboard examples. We replace tired rubber and cloth cable, add proper earthing and run new circuits while leaving original cornices and street frontages intact.
Studios and one-bedroom units made up 41.5 per cent of Camperdown homes in 2021. We fit compact boards, move outlets that furniture blocks and sort out which faults belong to the lot and which to common property.
The former Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children buildings were redeveloped into apartment complexes. In blocks like these we trace circuits through older structures, carry out unit switchboard upgrades and add lighting with minimal disruption in shared corridors.
Shops, pubs and small offices line the Parramatta Road side of the suburb. We add circuits for coffee machines and refrigeration, replace tired shop lighting and change old boards during quieter trading hours.

Our qualified team routinely works inside Camperdown’s single-storey Victorian terraces and know how cable runs through lath ceilings, shared brick walls and cramped subfloors off Australia Street.

We look at the job first, then write down one fixed figure. A studio near Missenden Road and a two-storey Hopetoun Street terrace are priced separately because the work differs.

When a Camperdown share house loses power or a Parramatta Road shop trips its main switch, we move that call ahead of routine bookings and aim to attend the same day.

Camperdown landlords, hospital staff renting nearby and terrace owners referred by the family next door all feature among the 250+ customers who have reviewed our work.

Labour on any Camperdown flat or cottage circuit we wire stays guaranteed for life, including new wiring hidden behind restored plaster in century-old terraces.

Share the street, unit number and whether there is an intercom, rear gate or strata key to collect. We then offer a time that fits around hospital shifts, lectures or work.

Our electrician checks the switchboard and cable paths in person, explain the options in plain English and then email a written fixed price before any work in your Camperdown home begins.

Parking near the hospital and university is tight, so we plan where the van goes before leaving. You get a call if Parramatta Road traffic changes our arrival time.

Floors get covered, cut cable and packaging leave with us, and you receive your compliance certificate plus a short plain note on what we changed in the unit or terrace.

Back in 2017 Spyro opened for business with one van; today five-plus licensed electricians carry his approach across Sydney. Camperdown became familiar ground early, because its terraces, apartment blocks and student share houses throw up the same old-wiring problems again and again. We have rewired cottages near Camperdown Park, upgraded boards in apartments on the former children’s hospital site and fitted smoke alarms for agents managing flats along Parramatta Road. One crew stays with each job from first visit to certificate.

At the 2021 Census, 61.1 per cent of Camperdown dwellings were rented, close to double the NSW rate of 32.6 per cent. With leases turning over constantly near the hospital and university, keeping smoke alarms compliant is the request agents in 2050 bring to us most.

Under NSW law, your Camperdown visit finishes with us lodging a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work. In terraces well over a century old, that paperwork records any old wiring we disturbed and whether it was brought up to standard. Replacing or altering a switchboard means adding RCD protection to the final subcircuits under AS/NZS 3000, and since 1 May 2023 Type AC safety switches can no longer go into new work, so we fit Type A or better.
We quote a fixed price in writing once we have seen the job. That matters in Camperdown because two addresses a street apart can differ enormously: new lights in a modern apartment near Parramatta Road may take a morning, while the same fittings in a single-storey Victorian terrace can mean crawling a low subfloor and chasing solid brick. You approve the figure before we begin.
Tripping board in an Australia Street terrace, a smoke alarm notice from your agent, or a Parramatta Road shop that needs more circuits? Phone 02 8999 3691 to have a licensed tradesman inspect it in 2050 and set a written figure, backed by labour that stays guaranteed for as long as you own the place.
Camperdown tenants, terrace owners, landlords and small business operators near the hospital ask us these most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Most days we can. Weekday hours run 7am until 5:30pm, Saturday hours 7am until 2pm, and Sunday is our day off. Camperdown sits between routes we drive constantly, so a morning call gives the best chance of a same-day visit. Tell us straight away about burning smells, a warm board or a main switch that won’t stay up, because those get priority.
We avoid phone prices because Camperdown homes vary too much. An electrician inspects the board, the cable routes and the access, then writes up one fixed price for you to approve. A studio near Missenden Road and a two-level terrace off Australia Street rarely take the same effort, so each gets its own figure, and that number does not climb once work starts.
Not always. Many Camperdown terraces have had partial updates over the decades, so we test insulation and earthing circuit by circuit, then tell you which parts are sound and which are failing. Brittle rubber insulation and missing earths usually mean replacement. Where the lighting and upstairs circuits test well, we may only need to renew the kitchen, the wet areas and the board.
It depends where the fault sits. Wiring from your own unit board out to your lights and outlets is normally the owner’s responsibility, while the main switch room, common lighting and risers belong to the owners corporation. With 73.6 per cent of Camperdown homes being flats, this comes up often, and we tell you which side of the line the problem falls on before quoting.
Group households were 10.4 per cent of Camperdown homes in 2021, against 3.8 per cent across NSW, and more housemates usually means more appliances. We test every safety switch, confirm smoke alarms work on every storey, look for overloaded outlets and add circuits where residents lean on power boards. A short report goes to you or your agent after each visit.
NSW requires a working alarm on each storey of a rented home. After a tenant reports a fault, repairs must happen within two business days, and each alarm has to be replaced within ten years of its manufacture date. Only a licensed electrician may fit the hard-wired type. We can handle the whole list for landlords and agents managing Camperdown flats and terraces.
Yes. On Census day in 2021, 53 per cent of employed Camperdown residents reported working from home, many in one or two bedroom units never planned around desks and monitors. We add double outlets, USB points and data where you need them, and can run a dedicated circuit if a heater and a computer are sharing one tired line.
Often, though it takes planning. Camperdown averaged one registered vehicle per dwelling in 2021, and many cars sit in shared basements or on the street. In a strata building we assess the spare capacity of the main supply, explain what the owners corporation has to approve and then fit a wall charger to your space once approval is in place. Terrace owners with off-street parking can usually go ahead sooner.
Yes. Hospitals employed 7.7 per cent of working Camperdown residents in 2021, and businesses around the hospital and along Parramatta Road need dependable power too. We handle lighting upgrades, extra circuits, fault finding and tenancy changes, and we can schedule noisy work outside consulting hours so your practice or shop keeps running.
Since 1 May 2023, Type AC RCDs cannot be installed in new electrical work, because they may miss faults from modern electronics such as inverters, induction cooktops and LED drivers. When we replace or alter a Camperdown board, AS/NZS 3000 also requires RCD protection on the final subcircuits, so we fit Type A devices or better and note them on your certificate.
All of Camperdown in postcode 2050, including Missenden Road, Australia Street, Hopetoun Street, the blocks around Camperdown Park and the Parramatta Road and City Road edges near Victoria Park. We also work every week in Newtown, Stanmore, Annandale, Darlington, Forest Lodge and Glebe, so jobs close by slot easily into our runs.
