West Pymble is almost entirely detached housing: the 2021 Census found 96.1 per cent separate houses, compared with 65.6 per cent across NSW, while 64.1 per cent offer at least four bedrooms. Most roads were cut through bush in the 1950s and 1960s, when around 200 three-bedroom weatherboard and brick houses went up for returned servicemen. Many have since been enlarged or rebuilt, so we do renovation wiring, second-storey circuits and full board replacements.

Trade here is modest and local. Philip Mall on Kendall Street is a pedestrian strip of facing shopfronts, and the Gordon West shops sit on Duneba Avenue with a dentist, salon and restaurants. We also look after clubs, halls and childcare sites, handling lighting, new circuits and routine commercial maintenance.

Bushland wraps much of West Pymble, so gusty storms bring down branches, lift roof sheets and flood outdoor fittings on sloping blocks. Our same-day service handles those callouts, along with scorched power points and 1950s boards that give up under modern loads, across Yanko Road, Ryde Road and beyond.
Close to two in three West Pymble families, 63.7 per cent, are couples with children, and average household size is 3.2 people. That shapes our work: heavier kitchens, more bedrooms to light, backyard studios and cars that need charging overnight. Nearly half of owners carry a mortgage, 47.1 per cent, often after buying a postwar cottage to extend. As the West Pymble electrician many of these families already know, we plan wiring for knock-down rebuilds and upgrades on original Kiparra Street and Dunoon Avenue homes.
The land itself sets challenges. Streets fall from Ryde Road towards Blackbutt and Troon creeks and the Lane Cove River, so garages sit below houses and cable runs get long. Trees overhanging service lines are common, and when storms cause damage we respond with an urgent electrical visit. The same crew travels throughout the North Shore, but this valley suburb gets steady attention.

Kiparra Street, Dunoon and Duneba avenues, Kooloona Crescent and Baronga Avenue gained war service homes in the mid-1950s. We replace ageing cable, add earthing and bring kitchens and bathrooms up to present standards.
Modest three-bedroom cottages are often doubled in size or replaced. We size new boards, rough in extra circuits during framing and connect upstairs additions without overloading the original supply.
Lane Cove National Park, Blackbutt Creek and Troon Creek border the suburb. Falling limbs, water on outdoor fittings and long runs to lower garages keep our storm repair work steady here.
The Kendall Street mall and the smaller Duneba Avenue strip house food, health and service businesses. We handle lighting faults, extra outlets and upgrades timed to avoid busy trading hours.

Our licensed tradespeople often work inside postwar West Pymble cottages, where 1950s weatherboard or brick walls hide original cable, few earths and boards never designed for today’s appliances.

West Pymble blocks slope sharply, so trenching to a lower garage can vary widely. We walk the site first and then commit to one written figure.

Storms off Lane Cove National Park regularly snap branches onto wiring here. If an outlet sparks or a circuit dies after wind, we reschedule so someone reaches you fast.

Among our 250+ customers are many upper north shore families, and plenty of West Pymble bookings arrive by word of mouth from sideline chats at Bicentennial Park.

Circuits we run through an extended Yanko Road home or a rebuilt Kendall Street house carry a lifetime guarantee on labour, not a limited warranty period.

Book around school drop-off or sport at Norman Griffiths Oval. Mention whether your driveway is steep or your meter box sits down the side of a sloping block.

Our electrician studies the board, roof cavity and subfloor, discuss choices frankly and send a fixed written quote so the final bill matches what you approved.

Arrival is within the window we promised. If Ryde Road traffic from Macquarie Park slows us down, we phone ahead with an honest updated time.

Drop sheets protect floors, packaging and cable scraps leave with us, and the compliance certificate is handed over along with a plain rundown of every alteration.

What Spyro began in 2017 has grown to five-plus licensed electricians who carry his standards across the north shore. West Pymble keeps us busy because so many of its postwar houses are being extended, rebuilt or brought up to date. We enjoy the variety: rewiring a small 1950s cottage one week, planning circuits for a two-storey rebuild the next, then fixing lights at a Philip Mall shop.

The 2021 Census recorded 2.1 motor vehicles per West Pymble dwelling, and 96.1 per cent of dwellings are freestanding houses, most with a garage or driveway. With Ryde Road the main link to Macquarie Park, many families are moving at least one daily car to electric.

After any West Pymble visit our team files a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, the state document confirming what was installed and tested. That record matters in houses built quickly in the 1950s and then extended by several owners, where old and new cable often meet in the roof. Whenever a board is altered or replaced, AS/NZS 3000 requires residual current protection on the final subcircuits, which we treat as the minimum.
Nothing starts until you hold a fixed written price that we have set after looking at the job. Take two West Pymble examples. New lighting in a single-level brick cottage off Yanko Road can be quick, while the same lights in a split-level rebuild near Blackbutt Creek may involve deep subfloors, long cable paths and steep access, so each gets its own quote.
Extending a 1950s cottage, planning an EV charger for a garage below the house, or dealing with storm damage near the bush? Call 02 8999 3691 and one of our licensed team will assess the site, hand over a single written figure and stand behind the labour permanently.
West Pymble parents, renovators, long-time owners and Philip Mall business people most often ask us these. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Frequently. Vans head out at 7am and work until 5:30pm through the week, with Saturday hours from 7am until 2pm, and West Pymble is close to our regular north shore runs. Ring 02 8999 3691 early and describe the problem. Sparking, heat, a smell of hot plastic, or a main switch that refuses to hold all move to the front of our list.
It depends on the house and the site, which is why we quote only after looking. A flat single-storey block with clear roof access is straightforward, while a split-level home on a steep lot with a garage far below the meter needs more labour and cable. After that visit a written, locked figure arrives, and only a change you request can alter it.
It is worth a proper test. The war service homes built along Kiparra Street, Dunoon Avenue and nearby streets are now around seventy years old, and many still have original rubber insulated cable, patchy earthing and early boards with rewireable fuses. We check insulation resistance and earth continuity, then advise which circuits to keep, repair or replace, and in what order.
Ideally before the builder closes the walls. For major extensions we look at the existing supply, plan a new or enlarged board, and rough in cable while framing is open, which is far easier than chasing plaster later. Many West Pymble cottages are being expanded this way, and early input keeps the upstairs wiring, lighting and smoke alarm layout coordinated.
Plenty. Much of West Pymble backs onto Lane Cove National Park or creek reserves, and strong winds bring limbs down on roofs, outdoor lights and garden circuits. We make damaged wiring safe, replace broken fittings and restore power inside the property. If the network line to your house or the street is down, keep well away and call Ausgrid on 13 13 88, or 000 if there is fire.
Yes. With an average of 3.8 bedrooms per dwelling and many homes spread over two levels, a single alarm in the hallway is rarely enough. We install hard-wired interconnected smoke alarms so that one sounding triggers all of them, which gives children upstairs and parents downstairs the same early warning. We also replace alarms that have passed ten years from manufacture.
Of course. At the 2021 Census, 53.5 per cent of employed West Pymble residents worked from home, and a spare bedroom rarely has enough outlets. We add dedicated circuits, install extra power points at desk height, run data cabling to the router and improve lighting so video calls look clear. Backyard studios can be supplied with a new submain from the house board.
Usually it can. On steep West Pymble lots the garage may sit well down the slope from the meter box, so we assess cable size, route and any trenching needed before committing. Where the existing board is full or elderly, upgrading it first is often the sensible step. You will see those options priced clearly before any work begins.
We do. The Kendall Street mall and the Gordon West shops on Duneba Avenue host food outlets, health practices and personal services. We repair lighting, add circuits for new equipment, test emergency lighting and help with small refits when a tenancy changes. Anything that needs power off can be scheduled early in the morning or after closing to keep trading uninterrupted.
Every part of West Pymble 2073, from Philip Mall and Kendall Street to Yanko Road, Ryde Road, Lofberg Road, Kiparra Street, Duneba and Dunoon avenues, Apollo and Wyomee avenues, Kooloona Crescent and the areas around Bicentennial Park, Frogmore Park, Norman Griffiths Oval and the Comenarra Parkway. We also work regularly in Pymble, Gordon, South Turramurra, Killara, Turramurra, Macquarie Park and Marsfield.
