East Killara is a suburb of big detached homes. The 2021 Census recorded 99.5 per cent separate houses, no flats at all, and 82.5 per cent of dwellings with four or more bedrooms, averaging 4.3 bedrooms each against 3.1 statewide. Households average 3.2 people. Much of the housing followed the late 1960s, when Killara High School was built for the new estate. We carry out renovation wiring, board upgrades, lighting design and extensions for these large family homes.

Business here is compact: the East Killara shopping centre at 50 Koola Avenue holds a supermarket and bakery, café, pharmacy, fruit shop, bottle shop, hairdresser, vet hospital, GP and agent. We service those tenancies with lighting, fridge and cool room circuits, fault finding and appliance installs, booked around their opening times.

Our same-day service reaches every East Killara street, from Birdwood Avenue across to the Garigal National Park edge. Typical urgent calls: storm damage to outdoor lighting on bush blocks, a large home’s board tripping under heavy load, and a failed pump or fridge circuit at the Koola Avenue shops.
Nearly all our East Killara clients are owner-occupiers, since 86 per cent of homes are owned outright or with a mortgage. Many are families in houses with four or more bedrooms who want more from the wiring: circuits for second kitchens and home offices, EV charging for two cars, pool and outdoor lighting, and switchboards that can keep up. Others are longer-term owners replacing the board that came with a late-1960s house. As an East Killara electrician we plan for the size of these homes, which means long cable runs and roof spaces worth checking first.
East Killara sits against Garigal National Park, and bushland shapes the work. Outdoor circuits need weatherproof fittings, and storms can bring branches onto garden lights. For those surprises we provide prompt emergency help here, and we travel the rest of the North Shore every week, from Lindfield to St Ives.

With 82.5 per cent of homes at four bedrooms or more, East Killara jobs involve long cable runs, big roof spaces and many circuits. We plan each route before drilling to limit disruption to finished rooms.
Houses built when the estate grew around Killara High can still run boards with ceramic fuses or minimal RCD cover. We replace them with properly sized boards that suit modern loads and future chargers.
Homes on the eastern side back onto Garigal National Park. We repair storm-damaged garden circuits, fit weatherproof outlets and install outdoor LED lighting that stands up to damp and falling debris.
The local shopping centre at 50 Koola Avenue runs fridges, ovens, a vet hospital and a pharmacy. We handle lighting upgrades, dedicated appliance circuits and fault finding without upsetting trading.

Our licensed electricians regularly work in large East Killara homes, from late-1960s houses along Koola Avenue to newer rebuilds on Springdale Road, and plan cable routes for their size.

A board swap in a single-storey house off Albany Crescent and a full rewire of a two-level home beside Garigal get separate written figures, set after we inspect each.

When a storm brings bushland branches onto outdoor wiring or a large home’s board refuses to reset, we rearrange the day to get an electrician to East Killara promptly.

East Killara families and the Koola Avenue shops are among our 250+ customers, and many heard about us from neighbours at Koola Park or the school gate.

Everything we install in an East Killara home or shop carries a lifetime guarantee on labour, from a deck light facing the national park to a replacement switchboard.

Share your street and let us know about long driveways, gates or pets. We then offer a booking that suits school runs to Killara High, cricket at Koola Park or your working day.

Once we have checked the board and the roof space, we explain each option and send a single written figure before any work begins on your East Killara home.

Street parking is easy here, but distances inside big homes are not. We arrive within the agreed window and phone ahead if a job elsewhere runs long.

We lay protection over floors, vacuum ceiling dust and take offcuts with us. You receive the compliance certificate and a clear summary of each change to your home.

Spyro founded the business in 2017, and we have since grown to five-plus licensed electricians across the North Shore. East Killara suits careful work: houses are large, owners plan ahead and many jobs are part of a wider renovation. We have replaced boards, wired extensions and lit gardens beside the Garigal bushland, always with the electrician who quoted the work staying on it until the end.

East Killara averages two vehicles per dwelling, and 99.5 per cent of homes are detached houses, so almost every household has somewhere to park and charge. The catch is often the board, since many houses date from the late 1960s estate and were never sized for a car drawing power overnight.

Every East Killara job ends with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, as NSW law requires. In large homes, that record also helps future renovators know what was changed. When we replace or alter a board, AS/NZS 3000 calls for RCD protection across every final subcircuit, and since 1 May 2023 Type AC safety switches are not permitted in new work, so we install Type A or better.
We give East Killara owners a fixed figure in writing after we inspect. Size changes everything here: adding lights to a single-level house near the Koola Avenue shops can be a short visit, while the same request in a large two-storey home backing onto Garigal means long roof runs and more time. Seeing the house first means one price you can plan around.
Planning a renovation, an EV charger or a new board for your East Killara home, or need lighting fixed at the Koola Avenue shops? Call 02 8999 3691 and a licensed electrician will inspect, provide a fixed written figure and guarantee the labour for life.
East Killara families, renovating owners and local shopkeepers ask us these questions most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Usually. Our hours run from 7am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 2pm on Saturday, and East Killara sits on the Lindfield and St Ives routes our vans use each week. Call 02 8999 3691 early and we can often be there that afternoon. Sparks, burning smells or a main switch that will not reset go first.
We price after an inspection, not over the phone. Homes here average 4.3 bedrooms, and the gap between a single-storey house and a two-level home with a deep roof and bushland behind can be large. Once we have looked, you receive one written figure for the work, and it only moves if you ask for more.
Often not for how the house is used now. Many homes date from the estate that grew in the late 1960s, and boards from that period may have ceramic fuses or only partial RCD cover. Large families running ducted air, pool equipment and multiple home offices can overload them. We test every circuit, explain what is sound and quote a replacement only if it is warranted.
Yes. Bushland brings storms, falling branches and damp. Outdoor circuits should be RCD protected with weatherproof fittings, and garden lighting cables are best run in conduit. If a branch damages wiring, keep clear and switch off at the main if it is safe to reach. Downed power lines or fire mean calling 000, and a wider outage should be reported to Ausgrid on 13 13 88.
Yes. Many East Killara owners extend or rebuild parts of their homes rather than move. We plan the electrical layout with you and your builder, run new circuits for kitchens, laundries and home offices, install LED downlights and data points, and upgrade the board if the extra load requires it. We time rough-in and fit-off around the building programme.
We can. Large blocks in East Killara often have pools, decks and entertaining areas. We run dedicated circuits for pool pumps, heaters and filters, fit weatherproof outlets and isolators, and add path, garden and deck lighting. Everything outdoors goes on RCD protection so a wet fault trips safely.
Regularly. Big bedrooms and living areas in East Killara benefit from ceiling fans, particularly in upper floors that trap summer heat. We check ceiling structure and height, run switched circuits and fit fans with lights or remote controls, keeping the finish neat on existing plaster.
Yes. The East Killara shopping centre at 50 Koola Avenue holds food retail, a pharmacy, a vet hospital, a GP and other small businesses. We handle lighting upgrades, dedicated circuits for fridges and ovens, emergency and exit lighting checks, and fault finding, with work booked early or late to suit trading.
Only about 12 per cent of East Killara homes are rented, but the rules still apply. Each storey needs a working smoke alarm, a reported fault must be fixed within two business days, and alarms must be replaced within ten years of manufacture. Hard-wired alarms must go in via a licensed electrician. We can install and test them and leave dated records.
Yes. Every electrician on our team is licensed and insured. Spyro started the business in 2017 and we now have five-plus electricians. Labour on every East Killara job carries a lifetime guarantee, so if our workmanship ever fails, we return and make it right at no charge.
