Warrawee was laid out in the early twentieth century as a shop-free residential enclave, with blocks held between one and four acres. Grand homes such as Pibrac (1888), Cheddington (1890) and Wirepe (1893) still set its character. The 2021 Census shows 63.9 per cent separate houses, 30.6 per cent flats and an average of 3.6 bedrooms. We rewire large period residences with care, upgrade boards in mid-century homes and look after unit owners with compact switchboard renewals.

Wikipedia describes Warrawee as almost entirely residential; even its railway station hosts no shops. The nearest thing to a commercial campus is Knox Grammar, which straddles the Wahroonga boundary. Our non-residential work here is mostly for strata blocks, home practices and estate grounds, including data and network cabling for home studies.

Same-day service reaches every Warrawee street, from the station precinct along the Pacific Highway to the far end of Finlay Road. Urgent calls tend to involve a heritage home losing a circuit after heavy rain, garden lighting shorting under mature trees, or an apartment board tripping without warning.
Warrawee clients are mostly long-term owners. The Census recorded 40 per cent of dwellings owned outright and 38.6 per cent with a mortgage, and only 18.6 per cent rented. Owners here plan carefully, so our jobs often come as staged projects: renewing a board first, then rewiring a wing, then adding garden and driveway lighting across a wide lot. As a Warrawee electrician we also help apartment owners with smoke alarms, lighting and board faults.
The architecture shapes how we work. Timber shingle houses by John Horbury Hunt, brick Federation homes and Harry Seidler’s 1957 Exley House on Finlay Road all ask for wiring that stays out of sight. If a branch brings down lights or water reaches a fitting, we respond as an emergency electrician and make the circuit safe. It is a pattern we see across the North Shore, but rarely so concentrated.

Pibrac, Cheddington and Wirepe date from 1888 to 1893 and set the tone for later houses. We route new cable through old framing, keep fittings sympathetic and avoid damage to shingles, cornices and joinery.
Early subdivision kept Warrawee blocks between one and four acres. Long driveways and deep gardens call for well protected underground feeds, sealed outdoor fittings and lighting on sensible switching.
Flats account for 30.6 per cent of Warrawee dwellings. We handle unit board faults, lighting upgrades and alarm replacements, and coordinate with strata where the problem sits in common property.
Harry Seidler's Exley House (1957) shows Warrawee also holds post-war modern homes. Their original wiring is often past its best, so we test circuits and plan careful replacements.

Our licensed crew has worked inside Federation and Arts and Crafts homes like those along Hastings Road, where cable has to travel through old timber framing without marking original joinery.

Each Warrawee job is inspected before we price it. A wide acreage-style home and a unit near the station never share a template figure; both get a written quote specific to them.

If rain or a fallen limb knocks out power in a Warrawee house, we move you up the day’s list and confirm arrival times so you know when help is coming.

Warrawee is small, so reputation travels between neighbours. Our 250+ customers include owners here who passed our number along after a careful rewire or board change.

Labour on each circuit we install in Warrawee is covered for life, which matters when new cable is sealed inside plaster, panelling or ceilings in a historic residence.

Tell us about gates, long driveways or dogs on the property, and whether it is a house or a unit near the station. We then confirm a slot that suits you.

After walking the site and opening the board, we describe the options in plain words. You get one written price, and it holds unless you add to the job.

Our electrician pulls into your drive within the promised window. Should the Pacific Highway slow us down, we call ahead rather than leave you guessing.

Protective sheets cover timber floors and rugs, packaging goes with us, and your paperwork includes the compliance certificate and a list of circuits we touched.

Spyro founded the team in 2017 and it now counts five-plus licensed electricians. Warrawee became part of our regular North Shore work because owners here want tradespeople who respect old buildings and explain things clearly. We rewire period homes, replace ageing boards, wire garden and security lighting across large lots and assist unit owners with smaller faults. The same electrician stays with each job from inspection to handover.

Warrawee’s earliest notable houses date from 1888 to 1894, and its streets were built up as a residential enclave through the early 1900s. Many of those homes have been extended several times, so the wiring is often a patchwork of eras hidden behind fine interiors.

NSW requires a CCEW for every electrical job, and each Warrawee visit ends with one lodged. In houses from the 1890s and early 1900s we routinely uncover old cable spliced into later additions, and we either correct it or record it plainly for you. Alterations to a board bring RCD coverage onto all final subcircuits under AS/NZS 3000, and since 1 May 2023 new installations cannot use Type AC units.
Our Warrawee quotes are fixed and written only after a site visit. The spread is wide: new LED downlights in a modern unit near the station may take part of a day, while matching work in an 1890s shingle house with high ceilings and tight roof access takes far longer. Seeing the job first means your figure is accurate and does not move.
Whether your Warrawee home needs a careful rewire, a new board or better lighting across a big garden, phone 02 8999 3691. One of our electricians inspects in person, sets a written fixed figure and we guarantee that labour for life.
Warrawee owners of heritage homes, apartments and large garden lots most often ask us these. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Most days we can. Our hours run from 7am to 5:30pm on weekdays and from 7am until 2pm on Saturdays, with Sunday closed. Warrawee sits right on the Pacific Highway corridor we travel often, so calling 02 8999 3691 early gives the best chance of a visit that afternoon. Anything that smells hot, sparks or cuts power to the whole house is treated as urgent.
By inspecting first. A lighting upgrade in a recent apartment and the same upgrade in an 1890s house with lath ceilings are completely different jobs. We look at the board, the access and the finishes, then send a fixed figure in writing. That number only changes if you ask us to add or alter work partway through.
It needs testing to know. In Warrawee we often find original cable, early PVC and modern work all joined inside one house, sometimes with missing earths or undersized conductors feeding newer kitchens. We check each circuit, report what is sound, and recommend replacing only what is needed. For bigger homes, a staged house rewire spreads the work and disruption.
We plan to avoid it. Before opening anything we check roof spaces and subfloors for routes, and we use existing penetrations where possible. Where a small opening is unavoidable, we place it where it is least visible and leave it ready for a plasterer or joiner. Heritage-listed properties may need council input for external changes, so check with Ku-ring-gai Council if in doubt.
Yes. Many Warrawee lots are deep and heavily treed. We run underground feeds in conduit, choose sealed fittings suited to damp shade and set up switching or sensors so paths and driveways light when needed. We also check the circuit has RCD protection, because outdoor faults under mature trees are common after storms.
Generally, wiring from your unit’s board into your rooms is yours, and the main board, meter panel and common lighting belong to the owners corporation. With almost a third of Warrawee dwellings being flats, we are used to this split. We trace the fault, repair what is in your lot and give the strata manager a written note for anything in common property.
We do. Warrawee averages two vehicles per dwelling, and most houses have garages. We assess spare capacity at your board, run a dedicated circuit to the parking spot and fit the charger with correct protection. If the board is crowded or old, we can include an upgrade in the same quote so everything is done in one visit.
Usually it is the sensible order. Warrawee extensions often add a kitchen, bathrooms and ducted air to a house whose board was sized for a much smaller load. We assess the existing supply and board during design, then plan circuits for the new wing so the builder is not waiting on us. Doing the board early also brings RCD protection to the older rooms before trades start drilling into walls.
Yes. With few offices in Warrawee itself, many residents work from home. We add power circuits, network cabling and Wi-Fi access points for studies and garden rooms, labelled clearly at a small patch panel so future changes are simple. Cable is hidden in walls and ceilings where the building allows.
