Queenscliff is a suburb of units. The 2021 Census counted 80.1 per cent flats, 17.0 per cent separate houses and only 2.9 per cent townhouses or semis, and 54.9 per cent of homes have two bedrooms. The median resident is 36. Holiday shacks stood on the headland in the early 1900s; today units dominate, so we see ageing unit boards, tired common-area wiring and kitchens that need extra power points for modern appliances.

Queenscliff is mostly residential, so our non-domestic work here is largely for owners corporations: foyer and car park lighting, pump and gate circuits, intercoms and data cabling for shared buildings. Shops and offices in neighbouring Manly and Brookvale sit within the same weekly runs.

Every street in Queenscliff 2096 gets our same-day service, from Pittwater Road near Manly Lagoon up to the headland above the rockpool. Urgent jobs here include a unit board failing after water gets in, a dark common stairwell, a pump or gate circuit out in a strata block, and lagoon-side garages after heavy rain.
Close to half of Queenscliff homes are rented, 45.2 per cent in the 2021 Census, so a big share of our calls come from tenants, landlords and property managers. Agents need alarms and safety switches sorted between leases, owners want tired unit boards replaced, and young couples ask for more power in cramped kitchens. As a Queenscliff electrician we also work closely with strata committees on shared wiring in the walk-ups off Crown Road and Greycliffe Street.
Location shapes the jobs. Blocks on the headland take salt spray straight off the surf, while streets near Manly Lagoon have a long record of flooding, including the March 1977 flood on Pittwater Road. We check meter rooms and garages after storms, reseal outdoor fittings, and send an urgent electrician when a fault cannot wait, anywhere across the Northern Beaches.

Eight in ten Queenscliff homes are flats. We trace faults across shared meter rooms, rising mains and stairwell lighting, and clearly separate what belongs to the lot owner and what is common property.
Manly Lagoon, once called Curl Curl Lagoon, has flooded nearby streets, including Pittwater Road in March 1977. We check garages, meter rooms and low circuits after heavy rain before power is restored.
Only 17.0 per cent of Queenscliff homes are separate houses, many on the headland exposed to surf spray. We upgrade boards, replace corroded outdoor fittings and add circuits for renovations and extensions.
Most units have two bedrooms and compact kitchens with few outlets. When owners renovate, we add dedicated circuits for ovens and cooktops, fit LED lighting and move power points to suit new benches.

Queenscliff walk-ups hold few surprises for our licensed team, from shared meter rooms and old rising mains to cramped unit boards never sized for modern appliances.

Before any work starts, we give you a written fixed figure. A two-bedroom unit on Crown Road and a freestanding house on the headland are quoted separately, because the jobs differ.

When water floods a meter room near the lagoon or a tenant loses power, we move the call up our list and aim to have someone in Queenscliff that day.

Over 250 customers have rated our work, including Queenscliff tenants, landlords, strata managers and property agents who keep coming back between leases.

Our labour on every Queenscliff job is guaranteed for life, whether it is a new unit board, resealed outdoor lighting on a salty headland wall or new common-area fittings.

Explain how we get in, by intercom, strata key or the managing agent, plus the unit number. We then offer a slot to suit you and whoever lives there.

We inspect the unit board and any common wiring, then put a fixed price in writing. Nothing changes on the invoice unless you approve extra work first.

Beach parking is scarce in summer, so we allow for it and turn up inside the window agreed. A delay means a phone call to you beforehand.

We tidy up after ourselves, leave common areas clean for other residents, and send the compliance certificate with a short summary to you and your agent.

What Spyro began in 2017 is now a crew of five-plus licensed electricians, and the Manly end of the beaches sees one of our vans most days. Queenscliff keeps us busy with strata and rental work: unit board upgrades, common-area lighting, smoke alarm changeovers and help for agents between tenants. We explain things plainly, work neatly in shared buildings, and keep owners, residents and strata managers informed from quote to finish.

The 2021 Census found 45.2 per cent of Queenscliff dwellings rented, well above the NSW figure of 32.6 per cent, and 80.1 per cent are flats. That means frequent changes of tenant, where alarms, safety switches and old unit boards can easily be missed.

Queenscliff owners and agents receive a CCEW for each finished job, the certificate NSW expects on every piece of electrical work. Many unit boards here are decades old, and when we replace or alter one, AS/NZS 3000 requires RCD protection on the final subcircuits, so we bring the board up to that standard. Type AC safety switches dropped out of new installations on 1 May 2023, and Type A or better is what goes into Queenscliff boards now.
Seeing the work comes before any number, and the number then comes on paper, fixed. Queenscliff shows why: adding a power point in a newer unit is simple, but upgrading an old shared meter room in a walk-up on Greycliffe Street means strata sign-off, coordinating power shutdowns and working around residents. You get the figure before work starts.
Old unit board, smoke alarms due before a new lease, or common lights out in your strata block? Ring 02 8999 3691 and a licensed tradesman will size it up, commit to one price on paper and stand behind that workmanship permanently.
The questions Queenscliff tenants, landlords, strata committees and unit owners raise with us most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
In most cases. Weekday bookings run between 7am and 5:30pm, Saturdays from 7am until 2pm, and our vans pass through the Manly end of the beaches almost daily. Phone 02 8999 3691 early and a same-day visit is normally possible. Flag burning smells, sparking or a board that will not reset as soon as you call.
We do not give prices over the phone because units and houses here vary a lot. Replacing a light in a newer unit is quick; rewiring an older walk-up unit or fixing a shared meter room takes longer and may need strata approval. We inspect first, then give you a fixed written price before any work starts.
That comes down to location. Cabling that runs from the board inside your unit to its rooms normally falls to the lot owner. Meters, the main switchboard, stair lighting and car park power are normally the owners corporation’s. Since 80.1 per cent of Queenscliff dwellings are flats, we sort this out constantly, tracing the fault and putting our finding in writing for owner and strata manager alike.
Every storey of the rental needs a working alarm. Once your tenant reports a fault, the fix is due inside two business days, and any alarm aged ten years from its manufacture stamp has to go. Only a licensed electrician may put in hard-wired units. Almost half of Queenscliff homes are leased, 45.2 per cent, so this is regular work for us, and we leave dated records.
Manly Lagoon has flooded nearby streets before, including Pittwater Road in March 1977. If water has entered a garage, meter room or ground-floor unit, keep clear of wet fittings and do not switch power back on. Call us and we will inspect, dry out and test affected circuits, and replace damaged equipment before restoring supply.
Homes on the headland and near Queenscliff Beach are hit by spray from the surf. Salt corrodes terminals, screws and cheap outdoor fittings, letting moisture in and tripping safety switches. We replace failed fittings with weatherproof, corrosion-resistant ones, seal cable entries and check the circuit for damage further back.
Yes. More than half of Queenscliff homes have two bedrooms, and many older unit kitchens have too few outlets. We check the unit board has capacity, then add power points, dedicated circuits for ovens or cooktops, and LED lighting. If the board is too old or full, we will quote a switchboard upgrade as well.
Sometimes. Queenscliff averages 1.5 vehicles per dwelling, and most car parks in unit blocks are common property, so you will need strata approval. We assess the building’s supply, the distance from the board to your space and how to meter usage, then quote. For houses with a garage or driveway, it is usually simpler.
Yes. We handle stairwell and foyer lighting, emergency and exit lights, car park lighting, gate and pump circuits, and intercom power. We also report on older rising mains and meter rooms. For owners corporations we provide written quotes, plan power shutdowns with notice to residents, and leave clear records after each visit.
