Living on Melba Drive, Bronhill Avenue or Moncrieff Drive, or overlooking the mangroves from Pittwater Road? Our East Ryde deals this month also cover homes near Brereton Park and the Heatley Reserve shops. Say you saw the offer when you ring and we will apply it.

East Ryde is a suburb of big family homes. The 2021 Census counted separate houses at 92.8 per cent of dwellings and 58.1 per cent with four or more bedrooms, against 65.6 per cent houses statewide. Most streets belong to the Dress Circle Estate that Hooker Rex opened in 1960, where covenants allowed one dwelling per block of about 650 square metres. Those early-1960s homes now need rewiring, larger boards for ducted air, and power for pools, second storeys and knock-down rebuilds.

Business activity is limited to the small East Ryde shops beside Heatley Reserve. We keep their lighting, refrigeration circuits and signage running, and for larger commercial electrical work our crews head a few minutes north to the Macquarie Park offices and Coxs Road shops in North Ryde.

Our same-day service reaches the whole Dress Circle Estate, from Cressy Road down to the Lane Cove River. Common urgent calls: a pool pump circuit tripping the house, a storm-damaged connection on a tree-lined street, or a 1960s board overheating under summer air conditioning load.
Homeowners make up nearly all our East Ryde clients: 46.9 per cent of dwellings are owned outright and 41.1 per cent carry a mortgage, with just 10.3 per cent rented. Many are second owners of a 1960s Hooker Rex home who want the kitchen, bathrooms and board brought up to date, while others are rebuilding from scratch on the same block. As your East Ryde electrician we take on both.
The riverside homes along Pittwater Road, which look out over the mangrove wetlands of the Lane Cove River, often bring bigger projects: lighting across terraced gardens, pool equipment, and heated outdoor areas. Up on the ridge around Finch Avenue and Elliott Avenue the jobs lean toward smoke alarm upgrades, EV chargers and fault finding. For an urgent fault anywhere in 2113 or across the Northern Suburbs, we move quickly.

Hooker Rex opened the estate in 1960 and 250 homes were finished by October that year. Their original boards and cabling are now six decades old, and we test and replace them circuit by circuit.
Along Pittwater Road the land drops toward the Lane Cove River mangroves. We wire garden and path lighting, weatherproof outdoor outlets and pool gear rated for damp, sloping sites.
Single-dwelling covenants kept the estate to one house per block, so owners often rebuild larger. We wire new homes from the plans stage, sizing the board for ducted air, induction and EV charging.
With most East Ryde homes holding four or more bedrooms, one hallway alarm is rarely enough. We install interconnected, hard-wired units on each level and outside every sleeping area.

Our licensed team knows the early-1960s construction of the Dress Circle Estate, including how original cable runs through low-pitched roofs and brick veneer walls on the ridge.

After an inspection we commit to a single written figure. A Moncrieff Drive original and a rebuilt riverside home on Pittwater Road are priced on their own merits.

When an East Ryde house loses power or a circuit starts smelling hot, we rearrange the day so a licensed electrician gets there as soon as we can manage.

More than 250 customers rely on us, including East Ryde owners on the theatre-named streets who found us through neighbours, the school gate at Twin Road or local builders.

Every circuit we wire in an East Ryde home comes with lifetime labour cover, whether it feeds a new pool pump by the river or a kitchen on Melba Drive.

Tell us your address and what is going wrong. We book a slot that avoids school pick-up on Twin Road and suits your work, your builder or your pool contractor.

Having inspected the board, roof space and any outdoor runs, we put the full job into a fixed written figure, explained plainly so you know exactly what is included.

Wide streets and driveways make parking simple on the Dress Circle Estate, so we arrive in the promised window and ring ahead if Lane Cove Road traffic holds us up.

Before leaving we clear roof dust, remove every offcut and hand over your compliance paperwork, with a short explanation of the new circuits in your East Ryde home.

Spyro started the company in 2017 with a simple aim: do honest electrical work and stand behind it. Our five-plus licensed electricians now spend a good part of each week in the City of Ryde, and East Ryde has become a familiar patch. We rewire 1960s homes on the Dress Circle Estate, wire knock-down rebuilds, add pool and garden circuits by the river and install chargers in double garages.

It’s Spyro. If your East Ryde home is still on its original 1960s board, or the pool keeps tripping the power, give me a ring on 02 8999 3691 and we will send a licensed electrician to sort it out.

The Dress Circle Estate was released from 1960, and two-thirds of today’s East Ryde sits on it, so a large share of homes still carry cabling installed in that decade. Rewiring before or during a renovation is the job we are asked about most here.

NSW requires a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work after every job, and each East Ryde visit gets one lodged. Because much of the estate was built on reclaimed ground and fitted out in the early 1960s, we treat any old cable we open up with care and record what we find. Altering a board brings residual current protection onto its final subcircuits under AS/NZS 3000, and Type AC units are no longer allowed in new work since 1 May 2023.
East Ryde quotes are always fixed and written after a site visit. The spread is wide: adding lights in a single-storey Finch Avenue original with an open roof is quick, while running cable through a two-storey rebuild on the riverside slope of Pittwater Road can take days. Seeing the house first lets us give you one number that sticks.
Still running a 1960s board, planning a rebuild on the Dress Circle Estate, or need pool and garden power by the river? Ring 02 8999 3691. We will send a licensed electrician to your East Ryde home, give you a written fixed price and back the labour for life.
Owners, renovators and rebuilders across East Ryde ask us these questions most often. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Usually. Our electricians are on the road from 7am to 5:30pm on weekdays and from 7am to 2pm on Saturdays, with nothing on Sundays. East Ryde sits close to jobs we run daily in North Ryde and Gladesville, so a morning call to 02 8999 3691 normally means a visit that day. Burning smells or a board that will not reset get priority.
We do not quote blind. A few extra outlets in a single-storey 1960s home with good roof access is a short job, while the same work in a two-storey rebuild with closed ceilings or a sloping riverside block takes much more time. After we have seen the house you receive a written fixed figure, and it stays put unless you add to the job.
It may be, but at more than 60 years old it deserves a test. Wiring from that era often lacks RCD protection, and joints in roof spaces can loosen after decades of heat. We test insulation resistance and earth continuity, give you a written list of what is sound and what is not, and quote replacement in stages if that suits your budget.
At the plans stage. The estate’s single-dwelling covenants mean many owners replace their home with a bigger one on the same 650 square metre block. We help place the board, plan circuits for ducted air, induction cooking, EV charging and outdoor areas, and then wire the house from rough-in to fit-off.
Yes. Pools are common on East Ryde’s larger blocks, especially on the Pittwater Road side. We run a dedicated circuit with its own RCD, fit weatherproof isolators near the equipment, bond metal parts as the rules require and make sure the heater load will not overwhelm an older board. If the pool trips the house now, we trace and fix the fault.
Regularly. The Census found 2.1 vehicles per dwelling here, higher than most of Sydney, and nearly every home has a garage or driveway. We check board capacity, upgrade the switchboard if required, then run a dedicated circuit to the charger location and commission it so it is ready to use the same day.
In most cases, yes. More than half of East Ryde dwellings have four or more bedrooms, often across two levels, and a single hallway alarm cannot cover that. We fit hard-wired smoke alarms with battery backup on every level and outside each bedroom area, interconnected so one triggers all, and replace any unit past ten years of age.
The Pittwater Road side of East Ryde falls steeply toward the Lane Cove River, so gardens are often terraced with steps and retaining walls. We run cable in conduit, choose fittings rated for damp conditions, and put paths, stairs and entertaining areas on separate switches or timers so you can light what you use.
Yes. The small centre beside Heatley Reserve serves locals with daily needs. We fix failed lighting, trace tripping refrigeration or equipment circuits, upgrade tenancy boards and replace old fittings with efficient LED, working early or late in the trading day so the doors stay open.
Every street in East Ryde 2113, including Melba Drive, Moncrieff Drive, Bronhill Avenue, Finch Avenue, Elliott Avenue, Jeanette Street, Long Avenue, Wolfe Road, Pittwater Road and Cressy Road, plus Brereton Park and Heatley Reserve. We are also in North Ryde, Ryde, Lane Cove West, Gladesville, Hunters Hill, Boronia Park and Macquarie Park every week.
