Shop in the Tahmoor Town Centre, rent a house near the station, or live by Tahmoor Oval or the Shopping Village on Remembrance Drive? Our short-run Tahmoor offers stretch out to homes near Potholes Reserve and Emmett Park too. Bring up the offer when you call.

Tahmoor began as Myrtle Creek, a farming stop on the Great Southern Road, and grew once the Main Southern railway was diverted through in 1919. Today 90.8 per cent of its dwellings are separate houses and 7.7 per cent are semis or row homes, with nearly half offering four or more bedrooms. Housing ages vary widely, so one street can need a switchboard upgrade and the next a fan and lighting plan.

Tahmoor is one of Wollondilly’s two main shopping hubs, with the older Tahmoor Shopping Village, the newer Town Centre and three supermarkets, plus a growing medical and dental centre. Ingham’s poultry plant and the colliery to the south anchor local jobs. We handle shop fit-outs, tenancy rewiring, signage and lighting circuits scheduled around trading.

Tahmoor households and shops get our same-day service from the railway station out to the bush edge near the Bargo River. Common urgent calls: power lost at a rental just before new tenants arrive, a supermarket-strip tenancy with dead lighting, or storm water tripping an outdoor circuit.
Our Tahmoor clients are an even mix of owners, landlords and shopkeepers. The 2021 Census found 31.5 per cent of dwellings rented, roughly the NSW rate, so agents keep us busy with alarm swaps and changeover checks. Owners, meanwhile, ask for extra outlets, air-con circuits and car chargers, since households here average 2.1 vehicles. As a Tahmoor electrician we also look after tenancies in both shopping centres.
Each part of town brings different work. Near the station and Remembrance Drive we see older homes whose boards have run out of room; in the newer streets it is more often lighting and outdoor power. Where Green Wattle Creek fire damage or a storm has hit wiring, or a board simply dies, we send an emergency electrician and cover the rest of Macarthur from Picton to Bargo.

Between the Shopping Village and the Town Centre, shops change hands often. We rework circuits for each new layout, add signage and display lighting, and leave the tenancy board clearly labelled for the next occupant.
About 7.7 per cent of Tahmoor dwellings share a wall. We trace each circuit to the right home before starting, repair the fault and relabel the board so the neighbours' supply is never mixed up.
The Green Wattle Creek fire bore down on Tahmoor in December 2019. After fire, smoke or storm damage we inspect outdoor fittings and roof wiring, then reconnect supply one circuit at a time.
Tahmoor appears on the Bargo Mine Subsidence District map, first proclaimed in 1975. Where cracks or sticking doors show movement, we check cable runs, conduit and terminations in those rooms and document the results.

Our licensed crew has worked on everything from older homes near the station to recent builds in Tahmoor, and knows how varied the town’s wiring can be behind the walls.

We look at the job, then write down one fixed figure. A rental alarm swap near the station and a shopfront rewire in the Town Centre get separate, honest quotes.

A tenancy that loses lighting before opening or a house with scorched outlets after a storm gets our next free van, not a spot at the back of the week.

Our 250+ customers include Tahmoor landlords, property managers and shop owners, many of whom found us through a neighbour or another tenant in the same centre.

Whatever we wire in a Tahmoor home or shop carries a lifetime guarantee on our labour, whether that is a single alarm or a whole tenancy rework.

Tell us whether you are at home, in a rental or in a shop. We book around tenant access, trading hours at the Shopping Village or your own shifts at the colliery.

We inspect the board and the job, explain what matters in everyday language, and email a fixed written figure before any cable is cut or fitting removed.

Our van reaches Tahmoor via the Hume Motorway or Remembrance Drive and arrives in the agreed window. If traffic holds us up, you get a call first.

Old fittings and offcuts leave with us, floors are swept, and you receive the compliance certificate plus dated notes that agents and centre managers can file.

At 31.5 per cent, Tahmoor’s share of rented dwellings sits close to the NSW figure of 32.6 per cent. With that many leases turning over near the station and shopping centres, landlords need alarms and safety switches kept compliant between tenants.

Every Tahmoor job closes with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, which NSW law demands for all installation work. Plenty of homes near the station still run older boards with patchy protection. Once we replace or alter one, AS/NZS 3000 means residual current devices on each final subcircuit, and Type AC units are ruled out for new work from 1 May 2023, so we install Type A.
You get a single written figure after we have seen the job. That matters in Tahmoor because the work is so varied: swapping an alarm in a single-storey rental near the oval takes a short visit, while rewiring a Town Centre shop for a new tenant involves signage feeds, a shared board and after-close scheduling. We quote the actual job, not a guess.
Rental alarms due, a tenancy to fit out in the Town Centre, or an older board near the station that keeps tripping? Call 02 8999 3691. A licensed electrician will inspect your Tahmoor property, give you a fixed figure in writing and guarantee the labour for life.
Tahmoor landlords, property managers, shopkeepers and families ask us these questions most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Often, yes. We work 7am to 5:30pm on weekdays and 7am to 2pm on Saturdays, and Tahmoor is on our regular Wollondilly route. Call 02 8999 3691 early and we can usually fit you in. Shops in the Town Centre or Shopping Village can ask for an early start before doors open. Sparking, burning smells or a hot board always come first.
We never quote blind. A rental alarm replacement and a shop rewire are so different that one hourly rate would mislead you. We come out, inspect the work, explain what is involved and write down one fixed price. That price holds unless you ask us to add something.
In established homes near the station, the usual causes are boards with limited RCD coverage, moisture in outdoor outlets and air-conditioning added years after the house was built. We test circuit by circuit, fix the actual cause and, where the board has no room left, quote a proper upgrade with protection on every circuit.
Usually whoever owns the circuit. Wiring that serves only your home is your responsibility; shared lighting or a jointly owned supply may involve the neighbour or a community scheme. About 7.7 per cent of Tahmoor dwellings are attached, so we trace the circuit first and show everyone involved where it runs before any repair.
Yes. Tenancies in both centres change hands regularly, and each new business needs power, lighting and data in different places. We plan circuits for counters, fridges, signage and extra outlets, fit exit and emergency lighting where required, and book noisy work outside trading hours so neighbouring shops are not disturbed.
It can. Tahmoor is on the Bargo Mine Subsidence District map, and the Tahmoor Colliery operates to the south in North Bargo. Ground movement can crack walls and jam doors, which can strain cables and fittings too. Subsidence Advisory NSW approval is needed before building or extending. For existing homes we check cable runs and connections in affected rooms.
Keep anything burnt, flooded or storm-struck switched off. The Green Wattle Creek fire reached the Tahmoor area in December 2019, and heat, embers and water can leave hidden faults in outdoor fittings, roof wiring and boards. We inspect and test each circuit before re-energising it, replace anything damaged and restore supply in a safe order.
With nearly a third of homes rented here, we get asked this weekly. You need a working alarm on each storey, a fault fixed inside two business days of your tenant reporting it, and replacement within ten years of manufacture. Hard-wired alarms need a licensed electrician. We also provide smoke alarm testing with dated records for your agent.
Yes. Households here average 2.1 vehicles, and more than half of employed residents drove to work on Census day, so home charging suits the town. We check your main switch and board capacity, recommend a charger that suits your supply and install it on its own protected circuit, explaining any board work before we quote.
