Renting a flat off Old South Head Road, owning a cottage near Bondi Public School or running a shop on Bondi Road? Our limited-time Bondi offers stretch to Wellington, Denham and Castlefield Streets as well. Bring it up when you call and we note it against your booking.

Bondi is mostly units. The 2021 Census counted 79.6 per cent flats, 12.0 per cent terraces or townhouses and 6.6 per cent separate houses, and 49.8 per cent of homes have two bedrooms. Buildings range across the Victorian, Federation and Inter-War periods plus modern blocks, so one street can mix period cottages, older walk-ups and new apartments. We handle board upgrades in ageing blocks, terrace rewires and kitchen circuits for units along Imperial Avenue and Watson Street.

Bondi Road is the local shopping strip, where rows of Victorian shops alternate with Federation shopfronts. Cafes, takeaways, salons and small offices there need extra circuits, better lighting and fit-out wiring that suits narrow, century-old shop buildings. We schedule noisy or shutdown work outside trading hours wherever possible.

When the power goes, our same-day service reaches every Bondi street between Old South Head Road and Birrell Street. Common urgent faults: a walk-up losing its lights after a southerly storm, a tripping board in a rented unit, a charred socket in an old terrace, and a shop fridge circuit dead before opening.
Some Bondi faults cannot wait for a routine booking. Ring us straight away if you notice:
While you wait: if you can do it safely, turn off the main switch at your board. Keep well away from wet fittings and any fallen wires. Resist flicking a tripping safety switch back on over and over, because it is telling you there is a fault. If the whole street has gone dark, the problem sits on the network, so report it to Ausgrid on 13 13 88. Fire, or power lines on the ground, means calling 000 first.
We take jobs between 7am and 5:30pm on weekdays and between 7am and 2pm on Saturdays; Sundays we are shut. Phone 02 8999 3691 as early as you can and our emergency electrician crew will aim to reach your Bondi home or business that same day.
Renters and the people who manage their homes are our biggest Bondi client group, since 56.8 per cent of dwellings are leased. Agents book smoke alarm and RCD checks between tenants, owners of two-bedroom units want new lighting and kitchen circuits, and strata committees need shared switchrooms and stairwell lights put right. As a Bondi electrician we also look after cafes and shops on Bondi Road.
Age runs through most of the work. Bondi Public School on Wellington Street dates from 1883, Scarba was built in the 1880s, and the steam tram reached Bondi Road in 1884, so some housing here is well over a century old, with wiring altered many times since. Sitting a few streets from the surf, outdoor fittings also corrode faster than they would inland. When something fails badly, our emergency electrician team responds across Bondi and the Eastern Suburbs.

Flats account for 79.6 per cent of Bondi dwellings. We fix unit board faults, repair stairwell and common-area lighting and give strata managers clear written findings on what belongs to each lot.
Bondi's older streets hold Victorian and Federation houses and terraces. We replace brittle cable, add earthing and new circuits, and route everything to protect original ceilings, cornices and street facades.
With 56.8 per cent of homes rented, we replace expired hard-wired smoke alarms, test safety switches between tenancies and leave dated records for the managing agent.
Salt air from the beach attacks outdoor power points, balcony lights and meter boxes. We swap corroded fittings for sealed, weather-rated units and check for moisture tracking back into circuits.

Holding NSW licences, our crew works regularly in Bondi’s Victorian terraces, Federation cottages and Inter-War walk-ups, and they know how the older wiring in each style tends to fail.

We look first and then quote one fixed figure in writing. A light fitting in a Watson Street unit and a terrace rewire near Denham Street are priced separately, on what we find.

Need an emergency electrician in Bondi? Ring early. Burning smells, sparking outlets or a unit with no power are handled the same day within our working hours.

More than 250 customers have reviewed our work, including Bondi renters, landlords, strata committees and Bondi Road shopkeepers who called us back for their next job.

Each circuit, fitting and board we install in a Bondi unit, terrace or shop carries a lifetime labour guarantee, so the workmanship stays covered long after we pack up.

Tell us your street, whether the building has an intercom or a locked meter room, and where a van can stop. Then choose a slot around your work, your tenants or trading.

Our electrician checks the board and the fault, explains what is needed without jargon and email a written fixed price. You decide before a single wire is touched.

Parking around Bondi Road is tight, so we plan access ahead, arrive inside the agreed window and phone you if traffic on Old South Head Road slows us down.

Floors are covered while we work, every offcut goes with us, and you are left the compliance certificate plus a short summary your agent or strata manager can file.

Launched by Spyro in 2017, the outfit has grown to five-plus licensed electricians. Bondi keeps us busy because it packs so many building eras into a small area: Victorian shops on Bondi Road, Federation homes, Inter-War walk-ups and new blocks. We rewire, upgrade switchboards, fit smoke alarms for landlords and fix urgent faults, and the same electrician usually stays with your job from first visit to sign-off.

Bondi’s buildings run from the Victorian period through the Inter-War years, and 79.6 per cent of homes are flats, many in walk-ups where wiring has been extended bit by bit. When fittings start failing or a renovation begins, a rewire is often the safest path.

Every Bondi job we complete gets its own CCEW, lodged because state rules leave no exceptions. In a terrace or walk-up that may be more than a century old, any wiring we disturb is either brought up to standard or flagged in writing. Changing a switchboard means AS/NZS 3000 RCD protection on all final subcircuits, and because Type AC devices were dropped from new installations on 1 May 2023, we fit Type A.
Before we start, you hold a fixed written price. Phone estimates rarely work in Bondi: a new light circuit in a recent apartment near Birrell Street is simple, while the same job in an older terrace off Bondi Road can involve lifting floorboards, working through brick walls and making good. We inspect first, then commit to one number.
Scorched socket in a Denham Street terrace, an agent chasing alarm records or a Bondi Road cafe that needs more power? Dial 02 8999 3691. A licensed electrician reviews it in person, puts one fixed figure on paper and stands behind that workmanship permanently.
Bondi renters, landlords, strata committees and Bondi Road shop owners keep raising these with us. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Most days. Weekday bookings run 7am through 5:30pm, Saturday bookings 7am through 2pm, and Sunday is off. Bondi is one of our regular eastern suburbs runs, so ringing 02 8999 3691 in the morning usually brings someone out the same day. Hazards such as a hot switchboard or sparking outlet are dealt with before routine bookings.
Anything that could hurt someone or start a fire. That includes burning smells, smoke or scorch marks at a socket or board, water getting into light fittings after a storm or a leak from the unit above, exposed or damaged cabling, and a safety switch that trips instantly each time you reset it. Losing power to one unit while the rest of the building is fine also needs prompt attention.
If it is safe, switch off the main switch at the board and keep people and pets away from wet fittings or fallen wires. Stop resetting a safety switch that keeps tripping. If your whole street is out, report it to Ausgrid on 13 13 88, since the fault is on their network. For fire or wires down across the footpath, call 000 before anything else.
We quote after seeing the work, not before. In Bondi, a similar-sounding job can be quick in a newer unit and slow in an old terrace with brick walls and tight roof space. Post-inspection, the written figure holds firm unless you extend the job.
It depends on its condition. Bondi’s older blocks and terraces often carry decades of piecemeal work: rubber or cloth-insulated cable, missing earths and boards with ceramic fuses and no RCDs. We test insulation and earthing, tell you which circuits are sound and quote on replacing only the parts that need it, coordinating with strata where shared wiring is involved.
Normally wiring from your own unit board into your rooms belongs to the lot owner, while meter rooms, risers, hallway and stair lighting are common property. With 79.6 per cent of Bondi dwellings being flats, we trace these faults often. We find where the problem sits then put it in writing for both you and the strata manager, so whoever owns that section books the fix.
Each level of the flat needs an alarm that sounds, a tenant’s fault report starts a two business day repair clock, and any alarm reaching ten years past its build date has to go. Only a licensed electrician may fit hard-wired ones. As 56.8 per cent of Bondi homes are rented, this is a big part of our work, and we leave dated records for your agent.
Bondi sits right beside Bondi Beach, and salt spray carries inland on the wind. It settles on balcony lights, outdoor power points and meter boxes, corrodes terminals and lets moisture in, which then trips safety switches after rain. We replace failing gear with sealed, weather-rated fittings and check the connections behind them.
Yes. Bondi Road’s Victorian and Federation shop buildings were not designed for espresso machines, commercial fridges and modern lighting. We plan dedicated circuits, upgrade the board where needed, fit LED downlights and exit signs, and book disruptive work before or after trading so you do not lose customers.
It can. Bondi’s heritage-listed items include Bondi Public School, Scarba and Electricity Substation No. 269 on Anglesea Street, plus many older homes with original features. Internal rewiring is usually straightforward, but we keep new conduits and fittings off street facades and protect cornices and ceiling roses. Check Waverley Council requirements for external changes.
