Current Waverley specials run from the Charing Cross shops along Bronte Road and Carrington Road to homes near Birrell Street, Victoria Street and Macpherson Street. Let us know you are claiming the offer when you call and it goes straight onto your quote.

Waverley is mostly attached living. At the 2021 Census flats made up 54.6 per cent of dwellings and semis or terraces 26.2 per cent, leaving separate houses at just 17.4 per cent against 65.6 per cent across NSW. Two-bedroom homes are the most common size, at 38.5 per cent. Much of the suburb predates the car, with the name taken from Waverley House, built in 1827, and the municipality proclaimed in 1859. We handle board upgrades, circuit additions and renovation wiring in semis, terraces and walk-up flats.

Business in Waverley centres on the Charing Cross junction, with shops, cafes and the heritage-listed Charing Cross hotel on Carrington Road. The suburb also holds several school campuses and church buildings. For shopfronts and small offices we add power, rewire lighting and run data cabling, scheduling noisy work around trading hours.

We provide same-day service to all of Waverley, from Charing Cross up Birrell Street and across to the Macpherson Street end. Common urgent calls: a semi with half its circuits dead after rain, a scorched power point in an old walk-up, or a tripping safety switch that will not reset.
Rentals shape much of our Waverley work, as 42.5 per cent of homes were leased at the 2021 Census, well above the state figure of 32.6 per cent. Agents book us between tenancies for alarm checks and safety switch tests, while owner-occupiers renovating a semi or terrace want extra kitchen circuits, better lighting and a board that can take induction cooking. Strata committees in the walk-ups off Bronte Road call their Waverley electrician for common area lighting and shared switchboards.
Waverley sits on the highest ground in the eastern suburbs, between Bondi Junction and the coast at Bronte, and its streets range from late Victorian mansions on Birrell Street to postwar brick flats. That spread means fault finding is rarely routine. When a failure turns dangerous we send an emergency electrician the same day, as we do everywhere in the Eastern Suburbs.

Semis and terraces make up 26.2 per cent of Waverley dwellings, more than double the state share. We fit new boards, trace faults along shared walls and add circuits without disturbing period joinery.
At 54.6 per cent, flats dominate. We repair unit faults, upgrade lot boards and separate what belongs to the owner from common property wiring, reporting clearly to the strata manager.
With 42.5 per cent of homes leased, agents rely on us between tenancies to replace expired smoke alarms, test safety switches and leave dated paperwork for the landlord.
Birrell Street holds Edina, completed around 1884, plus St Mary's Anglican Church, while Victoria Street has Mary Immaculate Church. On period homes nearby we conceal new cable and protect original fabric.

Waverley’s Victorian semis and brick walk-ups are familiar to our licensed crew, including cavities where original cable shares space with gas lines and circuits later owners added without labels.

After inspecting, we give a written fixed figure. A Porter Street semi and a flat above the Charing Cross shops are quoted separately because the access and cabling differ widely.

A dead kitchen circuit in a Waverley rental or sparks from a board near Birrell Street moves up our list so tenants and owners are not left waiting long.

More than 250 customers have rated our work, including Waverley landlords, strata committees and families renovating semis between Bronte Road and Carrington Road.

All labour on circuits we install in Waverley, from a single outlet in a walk-up to a full rewire of a Federation home, is guaranteed for as long as you own it.

Pick a time that fits your roster or your tenants, and tell us about stairs, intercoms or street parking limits near Charing Cross before we set out.

We test the board and circuits on site, explain the job without jargon, then send a written fixed price you can check before approving anything.

Kerb space around Waverley’s schools fills fast at drop-off and pick-up, so we plan arrival windows around those peaks and ring if we are held up.

Drop sheets protect floors and stairwells, all waste leaves in our van, and you get the compliance certificate along with a plain list of the circuits we changed.

Waverley has been a weekly stop for us almost since Spyro opened the doors in 2017, and a team of five-plus licensed electricians shares that work today. Its housing suits a careful approach: semis and terraces with a century of add-on wiring, walk-up flats with shared meter panels, and larger Victorian homes on Birrell Street. We send one crew from quote to certificate, so the person who inspected your board is the one who finishes the job.

Over 80 per cent of Waverley dwellings are flats, semis or terraces, and with the municipality dating to 1859 many buildings carry wiring added in layers across generations. Boards with one RCD, or none at all, are the upgrade we recommend most often in 2024.

Whatever we do in a Waverley home or shop, NSW rules oblige us to issue a CCEW afterwards, and we always do. Many homes here were wired, then rewired in parts, over more than a century, so anything unsafe we uncover is either fixed or noted in writing. AS/NZS 3000 makes RCD protection of final subcircuits compulsory whenever a board changes, and the 1 May 2023 rule keeps Type AC devices out of any new installation.
You see a fixed written figure before any work starts. Guessing over the phone does not suit Waverley: adding power points in a postwar walk-up flat can be fast, while the same brief in a two-storey Victorian semi means lifting floorboards and fishing cable past brick party walls. Inspecting first lets us commit to a single number.
Rental alarms due for replacement, a semi with no safety switches, or a renovation near Charing Cross that needs new circuits? Ring 02 8999 3691. Someone licensed comes out, looks the job over and writes down one fixed price, with lifelong cover on our labour.
Here is what Waverley landlords, renters, semi owners and strata committees tend to want answered. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Usually, yes. Vans are out from 7am until 5:30pm Monday to Friday and from 7am until 2pm on Saturday, with Sunday kept free. Waverley is on our regular eastern suburbs loop, so an early call to 02 8999 3691 often gets an electrician there before the day ends. Burning smells, arcing or a board that keeps tripping are prioritised over routine work.
We only name a price after seeing the job. Two tasks that sound alike can take very different effort here: new lights in a modern unit are fairly quick, while the same work in a Victorian semi with lath ceilings and brick party walls takes much longer. Once we have looked, you receive a fixed written quote that only changes if you ask for more.
Most were built long before modern standards and then altered piecemeal. We often find cloth or rubber insulated cable joined to newer PVC, lighting circuits without earths, and shared neutrals between rooms that confuse fault finding. Boards may still use ceramic fuses with no RCD. We test the whole installation, show you which circuits are sound and quote upgrades in sensible stages.
It depends where the fault lies. Your unit board and the wiring feeding your rooms are generally yours; the main switchroom, risers, stairwell and foyer lighting are common property. With flats at 54.6 per cent of local dwellings, we deal with this weekly. Once the fault is pinned down, a short report goes to you and the managing agent showing whose side it falls on.
Your rental needs a working alarm on each level, repairs within two business days after the tenant reports a problem, and a new unit once the old one passes ten years from its date stamp. Only a licensed electrician may fit mains-powered alarms. Because 42.5 per cent of Waverley homes are rented, we run regular smoke alarm testing for landlords and agents and leave dated records.
Internal work is rarely a problem, but care is needed. Birrell Street includes the War Memorial Hospital group, built around Edina from about 1884, plus St Mary’s Anglican Church and Carthona. If your own home is listed or in a conservation area, keep meter boxes, conduit and external lights off the street elevation, and check with Waverley Council about approvals before starting.
Often, if there is off-street parking. The Census puts Waverley at 1.3 vehicles per dwelling, and many semis have a rear lane garage or a hardstand at the front. After measuring what your board can spare, we lay a separate cable out to the car space and mount the unit there. In apartment blocks we need owners corporation approval, and we cannot install on a public footpath.
Yes. Semis and terraces here often have narrow rear wings where kitchens and bathrooms were added long after the house was built. We coordinate with your builder, run new circuits before linings go up, place outlets and lighting to your plan and fit the board capacity to match. Waterproofing zones around showers dictate where we can place switches and power.
We do. The Charing Cross junction holds shops, cafes and the heritage-listed hotel on Carrington Road. We install lighting, add power for new layouts, run data points to desks and fit exit and emergency lighting. Work that would disturb trading is booked early in the morning so the shop can open on time.
Everyone on our team holds a NSW electrical licence, and our insurance is current. We have operated since 2017, led by founder Spyro, and the labour on every job is guaranteed for life. Each Waverley job also comes with a compliance certificate recording what was installed and tested.
All of Waverley 2024, including Charing Cross, Birrell Street, Bronte Road, Carrington Road, Victoria Street, Albion Street, Church Street, Henrietta Street and the Paul Street and Macpherson Street ends. We also work daily in Bondi, Bronte, Queens Park, Clovelly, Tamarama, Randwick and Woollahra.
