Living on Barnstaple Road, Trevanion Street or Undine Street, or a few steps from Rodd Park and the Bay Run? Our present Rodd Point deals cover the Lenore Street and Janet Street end of the point as well. Mention the promotion on your call and we credit it to the job.

Rodd Point is a small peninsula of family houses on Iron Cove. The 2021 Census counted 92.4 per cent separate houses, 6.1 per cent semis or townhouses and no flats at all, with 37.6 per cent of homes holding four or more bedrooms. Owner occupiers dominate, since just 10.9 per cent of dwellings are rented. That means extensions, second storeys and kitchen rebuilds. We handle renovation wiring, board replacements, outdoor lighting and power for home offices and pool areas.

The point itself is almost entirely residential, bounded by Iron Cove and the Bay Run, with the Dobroyd Aquatic Club clubhouse beside Rodd Park. For local owners who run a practice or studio from home, we add dedicated circuits, data points and lighting that suits client visits.

We provide same-day service right around Rodd Point, from Barnstaple Road down to the Rodd Park foreshore. Likely urgent calls here: a safety switch dropping during a storm, outdoor circuits failing after salt spray off Iron Cove, or a large home losing half its lighting.
Our Rodd Point clients are mostly long-term owners, with 47.5 per cent of homes owned outright. Many are extending or updating a house they have lived in for years, so the requests run from moving a board during a renovation to adding circuits for a new kitchen, ducted air or a studio out the back. As your Rodd Point electrician we plan that work with your builder so walls are only opened once.
Streets here carry the Rodd family’s names, from Trevanion and Undine to Lenore and Janet, and the houses along them vary from modest originals to large rebuilds. Outdoor lighting for gardens facing the Bay Run, power to garages and sheds, and an emergency electrician when a storm trips everything are all regular jobs for us across the Inner West.

Separate houses make up 92.4 per cent of Rodd Point dwellings, and most have three or more bedrooms. We add circuits for ducted air, bigger kitchens and home offices, and balance loads across the board.
Nearly half of local homes are owned outright, often by long-term residents whose boards were extended piece by piece. We replace old fuse panels and fit safety switches on every final subcircuit.
The point juts into Iron Cove, so outdoor fittings take damp and salty air. We use weatherproof enclosures, marine grade fixings where needed, and check that every outside circuit has RCD cover.
Big backyards and homes facing the Bay Run suit good outdoor lighting. We install path, deck and garden lights, weatherproof power outlets, and supply for garages, sheds and pool equipment.

Rodd Point family houses are regular ground for our licensed crew, from original homes with patched boards to new two storey rebuilds carrying heavy air conditioning and kitchen loads.

We visit, measure up and hand over one firm written figure. A board swap in a single storey house and full wiring for a Barnstaple Road rebuild are priced separately.

If a storm knocks out your Rodd Point home or an outdoor circuit near Iron Cove starts tripping, we slot you into the day’s run and get there as soon as we can.

Rodd Point owners, builders and neighbours along the Bay Run are part of our 250+ customers, and word of mouth on these quiet streets brings us much of our local work.

Every circuit we put into a Rodd Point house, garage or garden comes with lifetime cover on the labour, including wiring buried inside new extensions and roof spaces.

Let us know about gates, dogs, and whether a builder is on site. We then offer a time that works around your family, your renovation schedule or your working day at home.

Once we have checked your board and walked the job with you, we explain the options clearly and email a written figure, so you can approve before any cable is cut.

We plan where the van can stop on these quiet residential streets and arrive inside the agreed window. If traffic along the Iron Cove side slows us, we phone through an updated time.

We vacuum dust, carry away offcuts and packaging, and leave the compliance certificate with a short note describing each circuit we added or changed in your home.

With no flats and 86.8 per cent of homes owner occupied, Rodd Point is a suburb where people extend and rebuild rather than move. That makes wiring for renovations the job we plan most often on the point, usually alongside a builder.

When we finish at a Rodd Point address, a CCEW goes to you and the regulator, recording what was tested under NSW rules. Renovations here often join new rooms to original circuits, so we check that older wiring is fit to carry extra load. AS/NZS 3000 requires residual current protection on the final subcircuits whenever a board is altered or replaced, and we fit Type A devices, because Type AC has been excluded from new installations from 1 May 2023.
Before any cable is cut, you hold a fixed figure on paper. Rodd Point jobs vary widely: a new outlet in a recent two storey rebuild on Barnstaple Road might take minutes to run, while the same point in an older single level house off Undine Street can mean crawling a tight roof space and replacing tired cable first. We inspect, then commit.
Planning an extension near Rodd Park, replacing an old fuse board on Trevanion Street, or adding lighting along a garden facing the Bay Run? Phone 02 8999 3691 to have one of our licensed team walk the site with you, price it firmly in writing and back the labour for life.
Rodd Point homeowners, renovating families and local builders ask us these questions most often. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Quite often, yes. Our electricians are out from 7am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 2pm Saturday, and the point sits between Five Dock and Drummoyne, where our vans run most days. A morning call to 02 8999 3691 gives the best odds of an afternoon visit. Burning smells, sparks or a main switch refusing to reset should be mentioned straight away so we can prioritise you.
We look before we price. In Rodd Point the difference between two jobs can be large: adding a circuit to a newly built house with open roof access is straightforward, while the same work in an older home with a low roof and ageing cable takes longer. After inspecting, we give you a fixed written figure that stays the same unless you add to the scope.
It is worth checking. Many Rodd Point homes have been held by the same owners for years, and boards often grew as rooms and appliances were added, sometimes with ceramic fuses and few RCDs. We test insulation and earthing, show you what is safe, and recommend a switchboard upgrade only where it is needed. A replacement board brings RCD protection across every final subcircuit.
Early, ideally before plans are final. We confirm whether your current supply and board can carry the new rooms, then plan rough-in to match your builder’s framing stage and return for fit-off once plaster and paint are done. Large Rodd Point homes often add ducted air, induction cooking and an EV charger at the same time, so we size the board for all of it.
It can. Homes near the water on the point face salty, damp air that corrodes cheaper fittings and lets moisture into poorly sealed outdoor outlets. We use weatherproof rated enclosures and fixings suited to the location, make sure every outside circuit has RCD protection, and replace corroded fittings before they start tripping. Regular checks save repeat callouts.
In most cases, yes. Rodd Point averages 1.9 vehicles per dwelling and nearly every home is a separate house, so a garage or driveway charger is usually practical. We confirm spare capacity at your board and supply, then take a dedicated feed out to the garage or carport and fix the unit in place. If you also have ducted air or a pool pump, we plan the load so everything runs together.
Yes. Many Rodd Point homes have large yards and entertaining areas, some facing the Bay Run. We install low voltage and mains garden lights, deck and path lighting, weatherproof power points for barbecues and heaters, and supply to sheds and garages. Circuits are RCD protected and laid in conduit at the right depth where they go underground.
We run dedicated circuits for pool pumps, heaters, chlorinators and pool lighting, with the equipment on its own RCD and bonding done to the standard. In larger Rodd Point homes the pool often shares a board with air conditioning and a home office, so we check the total load first. Timers and smart controls can also be wired in.
We can. A renovation is the ideal time to replace old batten fittings with LED downlights, add dimmers and put ceiling fans in bedrooms and living areas. We plan positions around joists and insulation, keep fittings clear of roof space hazards and match switch plates to the rest of the house.
The whole of Rodd Point 2046, including Barnstaple Road, Trevanion, Undine, Lenore, Janet, Clements, Burnell and Brent Streets, Rodd Park and the Bay Run foreshore. We also work regularly in Russell Lea, Five Dock, Haberfield, Drummoyne, Lilyfield, Leichhardt, Wareemba, Canada Bay and the rest of the Inner West.
