Curl Curl is mostly detached family housing on sandstone slopes above the beach. In 2021 the Census recorded 75.5 per cent separate houses, 7.7 per cent semis or townhouses and 16.0 per cent flats, and 48.6 per cent of homes had four or more bedrooms. Houses step down the slopes toward the lagoon and the sand, and decades of additions often leave old and new cable joined in the same roof space. We handle rewiring, new circuits for renovated kitchens and outdoor lighting built to cope with salt air.

Curl Curl has little retail of its own, but its community buildings keep us busy: two surf lifesaving clubs, Harbord Bowling and Recreation Club, the scout hall on Stirgess Avenue, and school campuses on Harbord Road. We carry out lighting, power and commercial electrical maintenance planned around events and school terms.

We provide same-day service throughout Curl Curl, from the lagoon playing fields to the headland streets above the southern end of the beach. Typical urgent calls include corroded outdoor fittings tripping the RCD, a pool pump circuit failing during summer, and power loss after a storm.
Most of our Curl Curl clients are owner-occupiers, with 39.6 per cent of homes on a mortgage and 36.9 per cent fully owned, and many are families making room for teenagers or a home office. Common jobs include extra circuits for second-storey additions, deck and garden lighting, and replacing fittings damaged by sea spray. As your Curl Curl electrician we also look after landlords, since about one home in five here is rented.
The suburb has a quieter community side too. Clubrooms near the beach, the bowling greens and the school campuses on Harbord Road need safe lighting and dependable power throughout the year. If a storm off the Tasman leaves a street or clubhouse without power, our emergency electrical team comes over from Brookvale, Dee Why or anywhere else across the Northern Beaches.

Nearly half of Curl Curl homes have four or more bedrooms, and plenty have grown through extensions. We connect new wings to existing wiring, balance loads and check that the old board can safely handle the extra demand.
About 16 per cent of Curl Curl dwellings are flats. We work with strata managers to fix shared lighting and intercoms while owners handle circuits inside their units. Written reports make responsibility clear.
About 22 per cent of Curl Curl homes are rented. Property managers call us between tenants to replace old smoke alarms, test RCDs and provide dated reports for landlords.
South Curl Curl SLSC dates from 1918 and the northern club from 1922. We maintain clubroom lighting, kiosk power and outdoor circuits exposed to coastal conditions, working around patrols and events.

Between us, our licensed sparkies have handled Curl Curl jobs in older beach houses and recently extended family homes alike, and we understand how salt air attacks fittings near the water.

We give you one written figure after seeing the job. A unit near the lagoon and a three-level home above the beach are quoted separately, because access and cabling differ.

When a storm hits the coast and a Curl Curl home loses power or starts tripping, we move that call ahead of routine jobs so the family is not left waiting.

Local families, landlords and club committees make up many of our 250+ customers here, and plenty came to us through a neighbour living near the beach or the playing fields.

Every circuit we install in Curl Curl comes with a lifetime labour guarantee, including outdoor lighting on decks and balconies that face the weather every day.

Mention your street, plus any steep driveway or tight parking, when you get in touch. We then book a time that suits school pick-ups, beach days or your working hours.

The electrician inspects the board and cable runs, then explains what is needed in simple terms. You get a fixed quote in writing to approve before anything begins.

Summer weekends near the beach make parking tight, so we plan our arrival carefully and show up in the agreed window. If we are delayed on Harbord Road, we call ahead.

Sand and dust stay off your floors because we cover them, and all waste leaves with us. You receive your compliance certificate and a clear summary of the completed work.

Since Spyro opened for business in 2017, the roster has expanded to five-plus licensed electricians. Curl Curl is one of our favourite coastal suburbs because the work is so varied. One day we rewire an old beach cottage, the next we install lighting for a clubhouse or run power to a new deck. We keep crews consistent, so the electrician who quotes your job is usually the one who completes it.

Curl Curl Beach runs along the entire eastern edge of the suburb, and most homes sit within walking distance of the sand. Salt air reaches decks, garden lights and outdoor power points, so coastal-grade outdoor electrical work is something we install more here than in inland suburbs.

A Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work is required for every NSW job, and we lodge one for each Curl Curl visit. Many homes here combine original wiring with later extensions, so any old cable we disturb is either upgraded or noted in writing. Replacing or modifying a switchboard triggers AS/NZS 3000 requirements for residual current protection on final subcircuits, and Type AC units have been banned in new installations since 1 May 2023.
Nothing starts until you hold a written figure that will not drift. Remote estimates rarely hold up in Curl Curl: adding lights in a unit near Adam Street Reserve is quick, while running cable through a three-level home on the southern headland slope often means scaffolding, long cable runs and tight wall cavities. So we inspect first and then commit to one figure.
Outdoor lights failing near the beach, a renovation off Brighton Street, or a clubroom that needs better lighting? Dial 02 8999 3691; we inspect on site, commit to one figure on paper, and the workmanship stays guaranteed for as long as you own the place.
Curl Curl homeowners, landlords and surf and sporting club volunteers tend to raise the following with us. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Often, yes. Weekday bookings run 7am through 5:30pm and Saturday ones 7am through 2pm, and Curl Curl is close to routes we drive most days between Manly and Dee Why. Morning calls give us the best chance of fitting you in the same day. If you notice burning smells or the main switch keeps tripping, let us know so we can prioritise the job.
We inspect before quoting. The same job can vary greatly depending on the home: a single-level unit near the lagoon is usually straightforward, while a split-level house on the sandstone slope may need longer cable runs and tricky roof access. After inspection, you receive a fixed written price, and it only changes if you ask for extra work.
Salt air and moisture often find their way into outdoor fittings, junction boxes and power points. Over time corrosion allows small leakage currents that cause the safety switch to trip. We isolate the faulty circuit, open each outdoor fitting, replace damaged components with coastal-rated parts and seal cable entries so the problem does not return.
Often, yes. When a Curl Curl family adds a level, the air conditioning, larger kitchens and extra bathrooms add significant load. If the board lacks space or still has old fuses, we recommend replacing it during the building work. We coordinate with your builder to install cabling while the walls are open, which keeps the finish neat. Our renovation electrical service covers the full process.
Rental homes in NSW must have a working alarm on every level, faulty alarms must be repaired within two business days of notice, and anything past ten years from its manufacture date is due for swapping. Only a licensed electrician may fit a hard-wired unit. We are also able to schedule smoke alarm testing between tenancies and provide dated reports for your records.
It depends on the circuit. Wiring from your unit’s own board to your rooms is usually the owner’s responsibility, while stairwell lights, intercoms and the main board are generally common property. Our finding goes to both the owner and the strata manager in writing, spelling out which side of the boundary the fault sits on.
Usually, yes. Curl Curl averages 2.1 vehicles per household, and many homes have garages or carports. We assess spare capacity at your board, install a dedicated circuit to the parking area and mount the charger in a convenient spot. On steep blocks we plan cable routes that avoid visible trenching through landscaped gardens.
Yes. Curl Curl has surf clubs at both ends of the beach, the Harbord bowling club, a scout hall and nearby school campuses. We handle lighting repairs, kiosk power, outdoor circuits and routine testing. Work is scheduled around patrols, training nights and events to keep disruption to a minimum.
Yes. Sea breezes help, but upstairs bedrooms in Curl Curl still heat up on summer nights. We install ceiling fans with wall controllers, check that the roof framing can support them and use a separate circuit where needed. Fans on covered balconies are selected with coastal-rated finishes.
Every street in Curl Curl 2096 is on our map, including the beach streets, Curl Curl Parade, Harbord Road, Brighton Street, Abbott Road, Playfair Road and the areas around John Fisher Park and Curl Curl Lagoon. We also work regularly in Brookvale, Dee Why, Queenscliff, Manly, Allambie Heights, Balgowlah and Fairlight.
