Living off Sandy Bay Road, above Fisher Bay or near the Ogilvy Road steps to Castle Rock Beach? Clontarf households get our seasonal specials, from the reserve and tidal pool up to the Grotto Point bushland edge. Bring up the deal when you phone and it gets applied to the quote.

Clontarf is a small harbour pocket of big family homes. The 2021 Census found 94.3 per cent separate houses, 4.5 per cent townhouses or semis and no flats at all, with 74.5 per cent of dwellings holding four or more bedrooms and an average household of three people. Since the 1958 bridge made the suburb easier to reach, modest cottages have been rebuilt as multi-level houses on steep sandstone blocks. We supply switchboard upgrades, lift wells and stairwell lighting, ducted air circuits and outdoor power for decks facing Middle Harbour.

There is little commerce in 2093 beyond the cafe and kiosk at Clontarf Reserve and the busy picnic ground beside the tidal pool. Our business work here leans toward home offices, private boatsheds and contractors renovating large houses, where we coordinate temporary supply, then fit the permanent installation.

Clontarf households can book same-day service when a fault will not wait. Calls we see here include a harbour-side deck circuit failing after heavy rain, lift or garage door motors losing power in multi-level homes, and storm-felled branches on steep bush-edged blocks.
Clontarf clients are mostly owner-occupiers, since 90.5 per cent of dwellings are owned outright or mortgaged, and the median age sits at 47. Families rebuilding on the slope want a whole-house design with new wiring throughout, smart lighting and room for a car charger. Long-term owners in older homes ask us to replace a tired fuse panel, add safety switches and light the stairs down to the water. As your electrician in Clontarf we also wire pool plant rooms and outdoor kitchens.
The suburb covers only about 0.8 square kilometres, bordered by Seaforth, Balgowlah Heights and the Sydney Harbour National Park bushland toward Grotto Point, so we know its steep driveways and tight street parking. When a storm brings down a limb or a deck circuit fails, our emergency electrician crews run in from elsewhere in the Northern Beaches on the same day.

Three in four Clontarf homes have four or more bedrooms, often spread over several levels down the slope. We design sub-boards per floor, wire lifts and stair lighting and keep circuits clearly labelled.
Sandy Bay has one of Sydney's largest tidal ranges, and the 1960 Chilean tsunami washed out Clontarf beach. We use sealed enclosures and corrosion-resistant fittings for low-lying boatsheds and waterfront decks.
Houses near Castle Rock and Grotto Point back onto Sydney Harbour National Park. Branches, possums and wet sandstone cause outdoor faults, so we route garden cabling deep and protect every exterior circuit.
The small group of attached homes, 4.5 per cent of dwellings, share driveways and sometimes meter panels. We confirm what is common property, then upgrade boards without cutting a neighbour's power unannounced.

Our licensed electricians have wired many multi-level Clontarf rebuilds, including lifts, plant rooms and harbour-facing decks where water and salt air punish cheap fittings.

An older single-level cottage near Sandy Bay and a new four-storey house above Fisher Bay need very different effort, so each gets its own written quote after an inspection.

If a deck circuit fails in rain or a fallen branch damages your supply, we move Clontarf callers forward so the house is safe before nightfall.

Clontarf and neighbouring Seaforth families make up a steady share of our 250+ customers, many referred by builders and neighbours around the reserve.

Every circuit we run in a Clontarf house, pool room or boatshed carries lifetime labour cover, even the hidden cabling behind finished sandstone walls.

Tell us about the driveway grade and where we can park. Sandy Bay Road fills with reserve visitors on sunny weekends, so we suggest weekday slots where that suits.

We inspect the board, trace the cable routes through each level, then email one clear number with the scope listed, so there is nothing to decode later.

Clontarf sits just north of the Spit Bridge, and we arrive inside the window we set. If the Spit Bridge traffic bites, you hear from us before the time passes.

Covers go over stone floors and stairs, cartons and offcuts leave with us, and the compliance certificate follows by email the same week.

What Spyro began as a one-man outfit in 2017 has grown to a crew of more than five licensed electricians. Clontarf work tends to be substantial: whole-house rewires during rebuilds, new switchboards for homes that doubled in size, and outdoor lighting that has to survive harbour weather. We like the suburb because clients plan carefully and value tidy, well-documented work, and we stay with each project through to the final test.

Clontarf averages four bedrooms per dwelling, well above the NSW average of 3.1, and many houses have been extended or rebuilt with lifts, pool plant and ducted air. Boards sized for a modest original cottage struggle with that load, so switchboard replacement is the most common major job we quote in 2093.

The CCEW, or Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, accompanies each Clontarf job as NSW requires, and we lodge it promptly. Big rebuilds often keep a section of old house, so we test that wiring before joining anything new to it. AS/NZS 3000 says a replaced or altered board must put RCDs on every final subcircuit, and the older Type AC switch has been excluded from fresh work since 1 May 2023, so we fit Type A.
Before anything starts you have one figure on paper. Clontarf shows why phone pricing fails: adding lights to a single-level cottage near Sandy Bay is quick, while the same fittings in a four-level house cut into the Fisher Bay slope may need cable pulled through several floors and concrete slabs. We look first and then commit to the number.
Rebuilding above the harbour, adding a lift or plant room, or replacing a fuse panel that has outlived its era? Ring 02 8999 3691. A licensed electrician will inspect your Clontarf home, walk you through the options and give you a fixed written price.
Clontarf owners, renovating families and builders working in 2093 ask us these most often. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Frequently the same day. Our hours are 7am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 2pm Saturday, and Clontarf is an easy run from the Spit and Seaforth. Ring early and we will try to slot you in before close. A burning smell, a board that will not reset or a limb across the service line all jump ahead of scheduled work.
Not a real one. Clontarf homes vary too much, from single-storey cottages to multi-level rebuilds with lifts and plant rooms. We visit, check the board and the cable paths, and then send a written quote with a single figure. It stays put unless you choose to add work during the job.
Usually because the board was never upgraded as rooms were added. We often find kitchens, ducted air and pool pumps sharing circuits meant for a smaller house, plus old RCDs that trip on combined leakage. We map every circuit, measure the load and propose a new main board with sub-boards per level so each part of the house is properly protected.
We provide the dedicated supply, isolation and lighting circuits a home lift needs and work alongside the lift installer on commissioning. On steep Clontarf blocks we also install stair, path and LED lighting with sensors or timers, so the walk down to the harbour is safe after dark. All exterior circuits are RCD protected and use weatherproof fittings.
Yes. Sandy Bay has a very large tidal range and salt spray reaches most of the foreshore houses. We use sealed enclosures, stainless fixings and corrosion-resistant fittings outside, keep connections above likely water levels in boatsheds, and recommend checking exterior circuits every few years. Cheap fittings near the harbour tend to fail within a couple of seasons.
In most cases. The 2021 Census recorded 2.3 vehicles per dwelling in Clontarf, so a second car on the driveway is normal here. We confirm the house supply can carry the extra load, lay a separate cable from the board and position the unit so the lead never crosses the path to the front door. If the board is already stretched, load management or a board upgrade can happen on the same visit.
Those are common on Clontarf blocks. We wire pumps, heaters, chlorinators and spa blowers on their own protected circuits, add weatherproof power and appliance circuits for outdoor kitchens, and confirm the pool bonding is right before signing off. Lighting for gardens and decks can go on timers or a smart system you control from your phone.
Regularly. We set up temporary builder’s supply, rough-in the new house against the plans, then fit off and commission once linings are up. We coordinate with Ausgrid on the metering side as the builder requires, and hand over a full circuit schedule and the compliance certificate at completion.
Yes. Many Clontarf living areas have high ceilings and wide glass facing Middle Harbour, which heats up quickly in summer afternoons. Quality ceiling fans on their own switched circuits move a lot of air for little running cost, and we can pair them with light kits or remote controls. Where there is ducted air, fans let you set the thermostat higher and still stay comfortable.
