Maroubra is Randwick City’s largest suburb, and its 2021 Census housing mix leans attached: 48.5 per cent flats, 20.9 per cent semis, villas and townhouses, and 29.6 per cent separate houses. Most homes followed Herbert Dudley’s subdivision of the land in the 1910s, and Coral Sea Park with its surrounding estates filled in between 1947 and 1961. Two-bedroom dwellings are the commonest size at 36.7 per cent. We upgrade switchboards, rewire older walk-up units and add circuits for renovated kitchens.

Trade centres on Maroubra Junction, with Pacific Square, the redeveloped Dudley’s Emporium and shops along Anzac Parade and Maroubra Road, plus cafes on McKeon Street and Marine Parade and the South Maroubra village. Clubs, hotels and the Des Renford Leisure Centre round it out. We provide shop fit-out wiring, lighting upgrades, exit signs and maintenance timed around trade.

Same-day service runs right through Maroubra, from the Junction out to Magic Point. Urgent jobs we see: a walk-up losing its stairwell lights, a villa board tripping when oven and heater run together, and beachfront fittings shorting after a big swell and onshore wind.
Maroubra keeps us busy with strata committees, landlords and families. The 2021 Census counted 42.5 per cent of dwellings rented, so agents call for alarm compliance and quick repairs between tenants, while owners in the postwar Coral Sea Park streets want boards and wiring brought up to date. As a Maroubra electrician we also handle villa blocks with shared meter panels, and cafe owners near the sand who need more capacity for espresso machines and cold displays.
Location shapes the work. Near Mahon Pool and Arthur Byrne Reserve, salt spray attacks outdoor gear; up at the Junction, older retail buildings along Anzac Parade often need their supply rearranged for new tenants. When a fault cannot wait, our emergency electrical team gets to Maroubra quickly as part of daily rounds across the Eastern Suburbs.

Flats and villas together make up almost seven in ten Maroubra dwellings. We fix unit boards, shared meter panels, garage and stair lighting, and tell the strata manager plainly which parts are lot and which are common.
The estates around Coral Sea Park were built between 1947 and 1961. Original wiring and boards there are well past their prime, so we replace brittle cable, add earthing and bring safety switches up to standard.
Homes near Maroubra Beach, Mahon Pool and Magic Point take regular salt spray. We replace pitted outdoor lights and power points with sealed fittings and remake corroded joins before they cause faults.
Anzac Parade, Maroubra Road, McKeon Street and the South Maroubra village carry a steady run of retailers and cafes. We add circuits for coffee machines, refrigeration and signage, and update exit lighting.

Our licensed team works across every Maroubra housing type, from homes on Dudley’s 1910s subdivision to postwar Coral Sea Park houses and the walk-ups packed around the Junction.

We inspect, then issue one fixed written amount. A switch replacement near Pacific Square and a full board change in a South Maroubra house are each quoted on their own merits.

A sparking outlet in a Maroubra unit or a dead board in a beachside house jumps our list for the day, and we keep you posted on arrival time by phone.

Maroubra renters, landlords, strata managers and small businesses feature among our 250+ customers, and many heard about us through a neighbour at Heffron Park or the Junction.

Anything we wire in Maroubra, from a single light near the surfing reserve to a whole-unit rewire, comes with our labour guaranteed for life.

Give us the building type, your unit number and any intercom or garage code. We offer a slot that fits your shift, your tenants or the quieter hours at your cafe.

We check the board, the cable routes and any strata limits, then send a written fixed price with a clear breakdown of what will be done.

Weekend beach traffic around Marine Parade can be heavy, so we plan parking early and arrive within the agreed window. If Anzac Parade holds us up, you hear from us.

Carpets and tiles get covered, packaging and offcuts go with us, every circuit touched is tested, and your compliance certificate comes with a plain summary of the work.

The 2021 Census found 42.5 per cent of Maroubra dwellings rented, about ten points above the NSW figure of 32.6 per cent. With thousands of units and villas changing tenants, keeping smoke alarms current is one of our most frequent jobs in this suburb.

Every Maroubra job we complete comes with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, lodged as NSW requires. In postwar homes and older walk-ups we often uncover past DIY additions, and we either fix them or list them clearly in writing. Any switchboard alteration triggers the AS/NZS 3000 rule that final subcircuits get RCD protection, and Type AC units have been ruled out for new installations from 1 May 2023 onward.
We price after seeing the job and put one fixed number in writing. Two Maroubra examples show why: swapping lights in a recent apartment near Pacific Square may take an hour or two, while the same fittings in a 1950s house near Coral Sea Park can mean replacing crumbling cable in the roof. Only an inspection shows which you have, so we look before committing.
Old board in a Coral Sea Park house, tenants moving out of your unit, or a Marine Parade cafe short on power? Ring 02 8999 3691 and one of our licensed electricians will assess it on site, set one fixed figure on paper and stand behind the labour for life.
Maroubra landlords, strata committees, unit owners and beachside cafe operators ask us these questions most often. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Most weekdays, yes. Our crews work 7am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 2pm Saturday, and Maroubra is so large that we pass through it constantly. Phone 02 8999 3691 early to give us the best shot at a same-day visit, and tell us straight away about any burning smell, sparks or a board that will not hold power.
It depends entirely on the job and the building. Maroubra has new apartments, postwar houses, villas and older walk-ups, and each needs different time and access. We come out, inspect, and then give you a fixed price in writing. That figure stands unless you decide to add more work while we are there.
Overloaded circuits in older blocks top the list. Many walk-ups and villas were wired when a household ran a fridge, a few lights and a radiator. Now kitchens hold dishwashers, induction cooktops and air conditioners, all drawing heavily through ageing boards. The signs are tripping, warm outlets and flickering lights. We test the unit board, split loads onto new circuits and upgrade RCD protection.
Ownership decides it. Cabling from your own unit board into your rooms is normally the lot owner’s, while main switchrooms, shared meter panels, garage lighting and lobby circuits are usually common property. Since almost half of Maroubra dwellings are flats, we answer this often. We pin down where the fault is, then send both you and the strata manager an explanation in writing.
It does. Onshore winds carry salt well inland from the beach and from headlands such as Magic Point and Mistral Point. Outdoor lights, balcony power, garden spotlights and air conditioner isolators corrode faster, and moisture then causes tripping. We replace affected fittings with sealed, weather-rated products and check the connections behind them.
Yes, once strata approves. We assess the building supply, the distance from the board to your car space and any load limits, then prepare the information the committee needs to decide. For houses with driveways it is simpler: confirm spare capacity, run a dedicated line and mount the charger. Load management helps where several residents want chargers.
Often it makes sense. Homes in the Coral Sea Park estates were completed between 1947 and 1961, so original rubber or early PVC cable may remain in the roof and walls. During a renovation we test existing wiring, replace anything unsafe, upgrade the board and add circuits for the new kitchen or bathroom while the walls are open.
Regularly. Pacific Square, Anzac Parade, Maroubra Road, McKeon Street and the South Maroubra village all have tenancies that depend on reliable power. We wire new shops, add circuits for commercial kitchens and coffee machines, update exit signs and emergency lights, and install data cabling for point-of-sale systems, working around opening hours.
Landlords must keep a working alarm on every storey, repair a reported fault within two business days and replace alarms within ten years of manufacture. Hard-wired alarms have to go in via a licensed electrician. With 42.5 per cent of Maroubra homes rented, we carry out many of these checks and can test alarms at each changeover, leaving dated records for your agent.
Yes. Many older units still run halogen downlights that run hot and draw more power than needed. We swap them for LED downlights, check transformers and ceiling clearances, and confirm the fittings suit any insulation above. In top-floor units we inspect the roof space first to plan access.
