Shopping on Weston Street, borrowing from the Anderson Avenue library or catching a train beside the Panania Hotel? Our limited-time Panania specials cover homes near Tower Street and Marco Avenue as well. Mention the deal when you book and it comes off your job.

Panania was farmland until the railway reached the East Hills district in 1931, and building took off after World War II, starting with 34 Legion-sponsored houses from 1946. Much of the original stock was modest fibro bungalows, and many have since been replaced by larger homes or two-storey duplexes. The 2021 Census shows 70.7 per cent separate houses and 24.1 per cent semis or townhouses, with 44.8 per cent of dwellings at four bedrooms or more. We rewire surviving fibro homes and fit out new duplex builds.

Panania’s shops line Weston Street, Anderson Avenue and Tower Street beside the station, backed by an active Business Chamber, with the Panania Hotel north of the line and council’s library and seniors centre on Anderson Avenue. We carry out commercial electrical work for these retailers, cafes and offices, including lighting upgrades, extra circuits and exit signs.

Panania homes and shops get same-day service when power problems cannot wait. Common urgent calls here: a fibro cottage where an old rewireable fuse has blown again, a new duplex with an RCD that will not reset after rain, and a Weston Street shop whose fridge circuit has dropped out.
Panania is a family suburb, with a median age of 38 and an average of 2.9 people per household in the 2021 Census. Most homes are owner-occupied, split between 31.5 per cent owned outright and 36.8 per cent paying a mortgage, while 29.2 per cent are rented. Our work reflects that: board upgrades before a renovation, lighting and power for new extensions, rebuilds where a fibro bungalow has made way for a duplex, and alarm checks for agents. As the Panania electrician many locals call first, we also handle the occasional urgent electrical repair.
The railway splits Panania into two precincts, and our jobs follow suit. North of the line, near Panania North Public School and the M5 boundary, we see plenty of original post-war homes. South toward Tower Street Public School and Picnic Point, rebuilt houses and duplexes are more common. We cover both sides, and the wider St George and Canterbury-Bankstown, from one local team.

Panania grew from 1946 with modest homes built from asbestos cement sheeting. We test old circuits, avoid disturbing fibro where possible and replace worn wiring with modern cable and earthing.
Many original bungalows have been replaced by larger homes or two-storey duplexes. We work from builders' plans, rough in during framing and fit off once plaster is finished.
About 29.2 per cent of Panania homes are rented. Agents book us to replace smoke alarms past their ten-year date, test RCDs and supply records between tenancies.
Retailers and cafes line Weston Street, Anderson Avenue and Tower Street beside the station. We upgrade lighting, add circuits for refrigeration and fit exit signs for small tenancies.

Our licensed electricians know Panania’s post-war fibro bungalows and plan new cable routes so the asbestos cement sheeting is not cut or drilled without good reason.

We look at every Panania job before quoting. A single-storey fibro home near Marco Avenue and a new two-storey duplex off Tower Street get separate written fixed prices.

When a Panania family loses power to the kitchen or the main switch keeps tripping, that job is slotted in ahead of routine bookings for the day.

Our 250+ customers include Panania parents, retirees in original post-war homes and traders around the station, many of whom found us through local word of mouth.

Every installation we complete in Panania carries a lifetime labour guarantee, whether it is a new light in a townhouse or a complete rewire of a 1950s home.

Tell us your street and whether the job sits north or south of the railway line. We then offer a time around school drop-offs at Panania Public School or East Hills Boys High.

An electrician inspects the board and the job, checks for fibro sheeting where cables will run, and gives you a fixed written price before anything is started.

We arrive when we say. If school traffic near East Hills Girls Technology High School or the station car parks slows us down, we ring you well in advance.

Offcuts and dust are cleared, circuits labelled and tested, and you receive the compliance certificate plus a plain-English summary of what we changed in your home.

Since Spyro started the company in 2017, the team has grown to five-plus licensed electricians, and Panania has become a regular stop on our Georges River run. The suburb suits our strengths: careful work around fibro in original homes, clean rough-ins on new duplex builds, and quick responses for shops near the station. From a single power point to a full rewire, the same electrician stays with your Panania job from first visit to final test.

Panania was mostly built after 1946, and its original bungalows were commonly clad in asbestos cement sheeting known as fibro. Those surviving homes often still run original wiring, and working safely around the sheeting is part of every rewire we do here.

Every Panania job ends with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work, which you need for sale, insurance and your own records. In fibro homes from the late 1940s and 1950s, we handle old cabling and any sheeting with care, and anything suspect we uncover is written up for you. Any board change triggers AS/NZS 3000 RCD protection for final subcircuits, and Type AC safety switches are not used, as new work has excluded them since 1 May 2023.
Our prices are fixed and written, and only given after we inspect. In Panania the gap between properties is wide: adding lights in a new duplex with a clear roof space is quick, while the same job in an original fibro bungalow means planning cable routes around the sheeting and testing old wiring first. Seeing the home is the only honest way to price it.
Original fuses in a Marco Avenue bungalow, a duplex build needing an electrician, or a Weston Street shop short on power? Call 02 8999 3691 and a licensed electrician will come to your Panania property, inspect the job and write down a fixed price, with labour guaranteed for life.
Panania families, renovators, landlords and station-side traders ask us these questions most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
In most cases. We run from 7am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 2pm on Saturdays, and our vans regularly travel between Revesby and East Hills. A morning call to 02 8999 3691 gives the best chance of a visit that day. If you notice sparking, a burning smell or a main switch that trips instantly, say so on the call, as those are handled first.
We give a price once we have seen the job. A new circuit in a recently built duplex is straightforward, while the same circuit in an original 1950s fibro home can involve old cable, cramped roof spaces and care around the cladding. After the inspection you receive a written fixed price, and it only changes if you ask for more work.
Yes, with the right approach. Many Panania homes built after 1946 used asbestos cement sheeting. We avoid cutting or drilling it where possible by running cable through roof spaces, subfloors and existing openings. If a job would require disturbing the sheeting, we tell you first so you can arrange testing or licensed removal before we start.
Early, ideally when the plans are drawn. Each dwelling in a duplex needs its own board and properly protected circuits, and good planning avoids clashes with plumbing and air conditioning. We rough in during framing, fit off after plaster and provide the CCEW at the end. New network connections are handled by an accredited service provider, which your builder or we can help arrange.
If your Panania home still has rewireable fuses and no RCDs, an upgrade is strongly recommended. Old boards were not built for modern loads such as air conditioning and induction cooking. A new board adds RCD protection to final subcircuits and makes future work easier. We check the existing wiring first so the upgrade matches what the house needs.
A working alarm on every storey, repairs within two business days after the tenant reports a problem, and replacement no later than ten years after manufacture. Hard-wired alarms must be fitted by a licensed electrician. With about 29 per cent of Panania homes rented, we often do smoke alarm testing for agents between leases and leave dated records for the file.
Usually, yes. The Census shows 1.8 vehicles per Panania dwelling and 70.7 per cent separate houses, so many owners have somewhere off the street to charge. We check spare capacity at the board, run a dedicated circuit to the parking area and install the charger. In older homes the board sometimes needs upgrading first to provide proper protection.
Yes. We work with retailers and cafes along Weston Street, Anderson Avenue and Tower Street on lighting upgrades, extra circuits for refrigeration and coffee machines, signage power, and exit and emergency lighting. We plan noisy or shutdown work outside trading hours so customers are not disrupted.
Yes. Plenty of older Panania bungalows were built with a single ceiling light per room. We can add LED downlights and ceiling fans, check roof space access and insulation, and put fans on separate controls. In fibro homes we plan the layout to avoid unnecessary cutting of the ceiling or wall sheeting.
All of Panania 2213, north and south of the railway, including Weston Street, Anderson Avenue, Tower Street, Marco Avenue and the streets around Panania, Panania North and Tower Street public schools and the East Hills high schools.
