Gordon splits almost evenly between houses and apartments. The 2021 Census counted 45.3 per cent separate houses and 48.3 per cent flats, against 21.7 per cent flats statewide, with most unit blocks clustered near the station and the Pacific Highway. Away from that spine sit Federation and interwar homes, including the bungalows Nelson Street is known for. We handle switchboard replacements in both, rewires for cottages whose cable dates from before the war, and power upgrades for apartment kitchens.

Gordon is the administrative seat of Ku-ring-gai Council and has a real centre: the Gordon Centre with Woolworths and Harvey Norman, the Gordon Village Arcade, and a strip of shops and eateries along the Pacific Highway. We look after shop and office fit-outs, lighting and fault finding for tenants there, with noisy work timed around trading.

Our same-day service reaches every Gordon street, from the station precinct out to East Gordon and Stony Creek. Common urgent calls: an apartment losing power because its unit board tripped, a Federation house with smoking fuses, and a cafe fridge circuit failing just before the lunch rush.
Gordon keeps us busy with two very different client groups. About 35 per cent of dwellings are rented, mostly flats around Werona Avenue, St Johns Avenue and Henry Street, so property managers ring for alarm replacements and quick repairs between tenants. Then there are owners of older houses on the leafy streets toward East Gordon, who want kitchens, ensuites and outdoor areas rewired without damaging original joinery. As your Gordon electrician we also handle wiring faults in shops near the station.
Heritage runs through the suburb. Eryldene on McIntosh Street and Tulkiyan on the Pacific Highway are state-listed, and many nearby homes date from the same Federation years. That calls for careful work behind old plaster. When something fails outright, from a scorched meter panel to a dead lighting circuit, our emergency electricians cover Gordon and the rest of the North Shore across working hours.

Flats make up 48.3 per cent of Gordon dwellings. We fix unit boards, add circuits for new kitchens and work out with strata managers which faults belong to the lot and which to common areas.
Eryldene, Tulkiyan and the Nelson Street bungalows show how old this housing is. We rewire through existing cavities, keep ceiling roses and cornices intact, and fit new boards away from street facades.
Shops, cafes and offices line the highway near the station and the Gordon Centre. We fit tenancy lighting, exit signs and commercial circuits, often before opening so trade is not interrupted.
Much of Gordon backs onto the bush around Stony Creek, home to Sydney's largest flying fox colony. Falling branches and wet weather cause outdoor faults, so we repair external lights, power and water-damaged fittings.

Our licensed electricians regularly work on Federation houses near the Gordon heritage items and on 1970s walk-ups by the station, and know how differently each was wired originally.

Before any work, you get one figure on paper. A two-bedroom Werona Avenue unit and a large East Gordon family home get individual quotes, because their access and cabling barely compare.

A Pacific Highway cafe with no power at opening, or a tenant reporting burning smells in a St Johns Avenue flat, moves straight to the front of that day’s schedule.

More than 250 customers have rated our work, and a steady share of Gordon jobs arrive through local agents, strata managers and neighbours who saw our van outside.

Labour on every Gordon job carries a lifetime guarantee, from a single replaced downlight in a highway apartment to a full rewire of a century-old cottage near Nelson Street.

Tell us the building, the unit number and how to get in, whether that is a security intercom, a key with the agent or a side gate. We book around your schedule.

Once we have seen the board, meter room or roof void, we email a written price with the scope listed. Strata committees can forward it for approval before we proceed.

Parking near Gordon station fills early, so we plan where the van goes before leaving. You get a call if highway traffic pushes our arrival past the agreed window.

We clean up, test every circuit we touched, and send the compliance certificate to you, your agent or the strata manager so the paperwork reaches the right file.

Spyro launched the business in 2017 with a van and a toolbox, and today five-plus licensed electricians share the load. Gordon became part of our regular week through property managers near the station and owners of older homes further out. Here we split our time between apartment switchboards, rental compliance runs and careful upgrades in Federation houses. The same small crew handles your job from quote to handover, which suits a suburb where clients expect punctuality and tidy work.

Spyro speaking. Old fuses in a Gordon cottage, a strata fault no one can locate, or alarms due before a new lease starts? Ring 02 8999 3691 and I will line up one of our electricians to check it properly.

The 2021 Census found 35.3 per cent of Gordon dwellings rented, above the 32.6 per cent NSW figure, and nearly half of all homes here are flats. That puts a lot of units under NSW rental smoke alarm rules, and agents near the station call us constantly.

A Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work goes to you after every Gordon job we complete. That record matters in a suburb where Federation houses sit beside decades-old unit blocks and wiring quality varies wildly. When we replace or alter a board, AS/NZS 3000 brings RCD protection onto the final subcircuits, and we fit Type A safety switches or better because Type AC units stopped being allowed in new work on 1 May 2023.
In Gordon, each job gets a written fixed price after we have looked at it. The difference between properties is huge: new LED lights in a 1990s apartment near the Gordon Centre may take a couple of hours, while the same lights in a Federation cottage off McIntosh Street involve high ceilings, tight roof access and fragile plaster. Seeing it first keeps the figure honest.
Whether you manage units around Werona Avenue, own a Federation home near Eryldene or run a shop on the Pacific Highway, call 02 8999 3691. A licensed electrician will inspect the job, explain what is needed in plain terms and give you a written figure before starting.
Gordon landlords, strata committees, Federation home owners and highway shopkeepers ask us these questions most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Often, yes. Weekday bookings run 7am to 5:30pm, Saturday ones 7am to 2pm, and Sunday is our day off. Gordon lies on the Pacific Highway corridor our vans travel most days, so phoning 02 8999 3691 early gives you the best shot at a visit before close. Mention any burning smell, sparks or total loss of power, since those faults leapfrog routine bookings.
We give a firm figure only after seeing the site. A power point in a newer highway apartment is a very different task to the same point in a Federation home with lath ceilings and brick internal walls. Once we have inspected, you receive a written fixed quote covering labour and materials, and it only changes if you ask for more work.
That depends on where the fault is. Your own board and the wiring into your unit usually belong to the lot owner, while the main switchboard, common lighting, lifts and shared car park circuits are common property. With almost half of Gordon dwellings being flats, we sort this out often. We trace the fault, then report in writing to you and the strata manager.
Yes, with care. Gordon has state-listed homes such as Eryldene and Tulkiyan, and many Federation houses sharing their era. For those we run new cable through existing voids, lift and relay floorboards rather than chase walls, and keep meter boxes and external fittings off the street elevation. If your home is heritage listed, check with Ku-ring-gai Council about approvals before exterior changes.
Landlords here must keep an alarm working on every level of the property. Once a tenant flags a dead or faulty unit, the repair deadline is two business days, and any alarm ten years past its manufacture date has to come out. Hard-wired units are licensed electrician work only. Since over a third of Gordon homes are leased, agents book us for these runs constantly, and we leave dated records each visit.
Often, but it needs strata approval and a check of the building supply. We assess spare capacity on the main board, plan a cable route to your space and quote a metered circuit so usage is billed to your lot. For houses in East Gordon with their own garage, the job is usually simpler: a dedicated circuit from your board and a wall charger.
Yes. The Pacific Highway strip, the Gordon Centre and Gordon Village Arcade hold shops, cafes, clinics and offices. We fit tenancy lighting, data cabling, exit and emergency lights and circuits for kitchen equipment, and schedule disruptive work before opening or on quieter days. Landlords also call us for switchboard checks and fault finding between tenants.
Branches and wet weather are the main ones. Outdoor lights, pool equipment and garden power points take a beating near the bush, and damaged outdoor fittings let water in. We use properly rated weatherproof fittings, check RCD protection on every outdoor circuit and repair storm damage on your side of the meter. Network lines to the pole are Ausgrid’s responsibility.
Usually. Old Gordon houses were never designed for induction cooktops, dishwashers and wall ovens running together. We check the incoming supply and board capacity, run dedicated circuits for the heavy appliances and plan lighting for the new layout. If the board is old or full, we include an upgrade in the same written quote.
All of Gordon 2072, including the Pacific Highway, Werona Avenue, St Johns Avenue, Henry Street, McIntosh Street, Nelson Street, Rosedale Road and East Gordon, plus the streets by Gordon Recreation Grounds, Richmond Park, Darnley Oval and Gordon Glen.
