Carlingford housing is mixed. The 2021 Census recorded 58.1 per cent separate houses, 12.5 per cent townhouses or semis and 29.5 per cent flats. Much of the suburb was subdivided after World War II, with 1970s and 1980s houses dominating, then units clustered around the town centre and station from the 1990s. We rewire ageing brick homes, upgrade boards, handle renovation wiring in knock-down duplexes and fix common-area faults in strata blocks.

Commerce runs along Pennant Hills Road: Carlingford Court, opened in 1965, Carlingford Village on Mobbs Hill, and strips on Mobbs Lane, Carmen Drive and Pennant Parade. Asian eateries, grocers and medical rooms fill many tenancies. We handle kitchen circuits, shop lighting, exit signs and commercial maintenance scheduled around trading.

Carlingford sits inside our same-day service zone, from North Rocks Road across to the Epping side. Urgent calls we see often: a 1970s board burning at a fuse holder, a unit block’s stairwell lights failing, and a restaurant on Mobbs Hill losing its cool room circuit.
Carlingford is where the Hills District meets the City of Parramatta, and its customers are just as varied. Close to a third of homes, 32.8 per cent, were rented at the 2021 Census, so agents book us for alarm compliance and quick repairs between leases. Owners of postwar brick houses near Marsden Road ask about switchboard upgrades, while strata committees near the light rail stop want lobby lighting and car park faults sorted. As a local electrician in Carlingford, we also wire new townhouse and duplex projects.
The suburb’s busy roads mean plenty of small commercial jobs too, from Asian eateries on Mobbs Hill to clinics beside Carlingford Court. When power drops without warning or a board starts to smell hot, our emergency electrical service responds across the Hills District and the Parramatta border suburbs.

Carlingford urbanised rapidly after World War II, and many 1960s to 1980s homes still carry original cable and fuse boards. We test insulation, replace failing runs and add earthing where it is missing.
Flats make up 29.5 per cent of dwellings, many built from the 1990s near the station. We maintain common-area lighting, car park circuits and shared boards, reporting clearly to strata.
With 32.8 per cent of homes rented, agents call us to replace expired smoke alarms, test safety switches and supply dated records before new tenants move in.
Carlingford Village and nearby strips hold many Asian food outlets and grocers. We add circuits for woks, fridges and freezers, and fit lighting and exit signs around trading hours.

Licensed and long familiar with Carlingford, we work across all three local housing types: postwar brick bungalows, 1990s unit blocks around the town centre, and new duplexes replacing older houses.

Prices are fixed on paper before work. A two-bedroom unit near the light rail stop and a 1970s house off Marsden Road are assessed and quoted separately.

A hot fuse board off Pennant Hills Road or a dark stairwell in a Carlingford unit block moves up our list so it is made safe quickly.

Our 250+ customers include Carlingford landlords, strata managers and shop owners along Pennant Hills Road who come back for each new job.

All the labour we put into a Carlingford home, unit block or shopfront is guaranteed for life, from one light switch to a full rewire.

Choose a time that suits your tenants, strata access or trading hours, and tell us about parking, as Pennant Hills Road clearways affect where we can stop.

Our electrician inspects the board and cable routes, explains the job without jargon, and emails a written fixed figure before any booking is locked in.

We know how slow Pennant Hills Road and the M2 ramps can be, so we plan our route, arrive in the agreed window and call if traffic delays us.

Subfloor debris and plaster crumbs are cleaned away, each altered circuit is proven live and safe, and the owner, agent or strata manager gets the CCEW by email.

Our story starts in 2017 when Spyro opened the doors; the roster now lists more than five licensed electricians. Carlingford keeps us busy with a bit of everything: rental compliance for agents, fuse board replacements in postwar houses, strata maintenance around the town centre and fit-outs for small eateries on Mobbs Hill. We send the same electrician back for follow-up visits, so they already know your board and building.

Carlingford’s houses were mostly built during the postwar boom, with 1970s and 1980s homes dominating the suburb. Many of those boards still run ceramic fuses or a single safety switch, so switchboard replacement is the job we quote most in 2118.

Carlingford jobs finish with a CCEW, the certificate NSW makes mandatory for electrical work, supplied to the owner or agent. Many local boards date from the 1970s and 1980s, so under AS/NZS 3000 any alteration brings RCD coverage to all final subcircuits. As Type AC units have been barred from fresh installations since 1 May 2023, our replacements use Type A or higher.
We agree a fixed price in writing before starting. Quoting blind makes no sense in Carlingford: extra power in a 1990s unit near the light rail stop may be quick, but the same outlets in a 1970s double-brick house off Marsden Road can mean lifting tiles and working in a cramped subfloor. We inspect, then give one figure.
Fuse board in a postwar house, a strata block needing lighting repairs, or a Mobbs Hill shop short of power? Phone 02 8999 3691 to have a licensed electrician inspect your Carlingford property, talk you through the job plainly and confirm a written fixed price, with labour covered for life.
Questions from Carlingford landlords, strata committees, older-house owners and Pennant Hills Road retailers, answered. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Most of the time. Weekday hours run 7am to 5:30pm, Saturdays 7am to 2pm, and Carlingford sits between the Hills and Parramatta routes we cover daily. Calls to 02 8999 3691 before about 10am usually secure an afternoon slot. Hot switchboards, burning smells and sparking outlets always come first.
We see the job, then quote. Carlingford ranges from 1990s units to 1970s brick houses with tight subfloors, and the labour involved differs a lot. Once our electrician has checked access, cable paths and the board, you get a written fixed figure. It does not change unless you decide to add work.
Not always, but it should be checked. Many postwar homes here have been partly updated, so we find newer cable joined to original runs, missing earths and fuse boards with no RCD protection. We test insulation and earthing, tell you which circuits are fine, and quote only for what needs replacing. Often a board upgrade plus a few new runs is enough.
Wiring from your unit’s own board to your rooms generally belongs to the lot owner, while the main board, car park lighting, lobby and stairwell lights are normally common property. Flats make up 29.5 per cent of Carlingford dwellings, so we sort this often. Our first step is locating the fault; then both you and your strata manager receive a short written report saying whose responsibility it is.
Three duties apply: each storey must have an alarm that works, a tenant-reported fault must be fixed inside two business days, and any alarm a decade past its manufacture date must be swapped. Hard-wired alarms must be fitted by a licensed electrician. As 32.8 per cent of Carlingford homes are rented, we do this regularly and can provide smoke alarm testing with dated records for your agent.
Yes. Older Carlingford houses are regularly replaced with duplexes and townhouses. We handle the electrical rough-in and fit-off for each dwelling, including individual meter positions, sub-boards, lighting, power, smoke alarms and air conditioning circuits, working with your builder to meet each stage. We do not do network connection or service mains work, which sits with an accredited service provider.
We do. Marsden Road runs past some of Carlingford’s oldest sites, including the Marsden Road Uniting Church from 1865 and the Mobbs Hill Reservoir from 1916. For older houses and halls in that area, we route new cable to avoid damaging original fabric and keep visible fittings discreet. If a building is heritage listed, check approvals with the City of Parramatta before major work.
Yes. Carlingford Village and the surrounding strips hold many Asian eateries and grocers that run woks, fryers, cool rooms and display freezers. We add dedicated circuits, balance loads across phases, fix tripping problems and install lighting and exit signs. Noisy or disruptive work is scheduled outside trading so the kitchen keeps running.
Often, but strata usually needs to agree. The Census recorded 1.8 vehicles per Carlingford dwelling, and more owners are going electric. In houses we run a dedicated circuit from the board to the garage or carport. In strata buildings we check the capacity of the car park supply and provide the technical information the committee needs to approve it.
All of Carlingford 2118, including Pennant Hills Road, Marsden Road, Mobbs Hill, Carlingford Court, Carlingford Village, the light rail stop, Mobbs Lane, Carmen Drive, Pennant Parade, North Rocks Road and Galaringi Reserve. We also work in North Rocks, Epping, Beecroft, West Pennant Hills, Oatlands, Ermington, Baulkham Hills and Parramatta.
