Own a Rosemead Road Federation home, lease a unit near Hornsby station, or trade on Peats Ferry Road? This season’s Hornsby deals also stretch to Hookhams Corner and the streets around Lisgar Gardens. Name the offer when you ring and we apply it to your booking.

Hornsby 2077 is now mostly apartments. The 2021 Census recorded 59.1 per cent flats, well above the 21.7 per cent NSW figure, with separate houses at 35.3 per cent and two-bedroom homes the biggest group at 46.8 per cent. Towers beside the rail corridor sit a short walk from Federation and Arts and Crafts houses on Rosemead Road and Dural Street, where power only reached the town in 1923–24. We handle switchboard replacements in unit meter rooms and careful rewires in those older brick homes.

Hornsby is still a working town centre: Westfield Hornsby, the Peats Ferry Road high street, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital, a TAFE campus, industry on the north-western side and a big railway workshop at the northern end. We look after shop tenancies, clinics and offices with commercial electrical maintenance, new circuits and lighting upgrades.

Our same-day service reaches Hornsby from the Florence Street mall to the bush edge near Old Mans Valley. Typical urgent calls: a unit block losing power to one riser, a burnt-out main switch in a 1920s cottage, and a shop freezer circuit tripping before opening.
Renters make up 43 per cent of Hornsby households, so a big share of our work comes from property managers chasing smoke alarm records and tenants reporting dead power points in newer blocks near the interchange. Owners of the older homes west of the line call about brittle cable, overloaded fuse panels and extra circuits for home offices. As your Hornsby electrician we also keep shopfronts running on Peats Ferry Road and around the Westfield side of the station.
No two streets here behave the same. Around Lisgar Road and Florence Cotton Park the lots are steep and leafy, so we check outdoor circuits for water entry after storms. Closer to Hornsby Park the calls lean toward unit switchboards and body corporate lighting. Sparking outlets, lost phases and any urgent electrical fault get the same prompt response, and we cover the rest of the North Shore from here too.

With 59.1 per cent of Hornsby dwellings being flats, many built along the transport corridor, we trace unit faults back to the correct board and work with building managers on common property lighting.
The Roberts subdivision around Rosemead Road and Dural Street holds heritage homes such as Mount Errington and Birklands. We rewire behind original joinery and keep new fittings discreet on listed facades.
Leases cover 43 per cent of Hornsby homes. Agents book us between tenants to replace ageing smoke alarms, test RCDs and supply dated reports for the landlord file.
The Peats Ferry Road strip, the Florence Street mall and suites near the hospital need dependable power. We add circuits, fix tripping equipment and refresh tired shop lighting with efficient LEDs.

Hornsby is part of our regular week, and our licensed team knows both the newer high-rise risers near the station and the century-old circuits inside Federation cottages on the western slopes.

A tower apartment by the interchange and a Dural Street bungalow need very different effort, so we inspect each one and put a single fixed figure in writing first.

When a tenancy near Westfield goes dark or a Hookhams Corner home smells of hot plastic, we shuffle our Hornsby schedule to get an electrician there quickly.

Plenty of our 250+ customers live or trade in Hornsby, from strata committees near Hornsby Park to shop owners along the old Pacific Highway strip.

Labour on every Hornsby job carries a lifetime guarantee, whether we rewired a Rosemead Road heritage home or fitted new lighting in a Florence Street shop.

Ring or message with your Hornsby address, unit number and any intercom or car park details. We lock in a slot that works around your commute, tenants or trading hours.

The electrician checks the board, cable runs and access, talks you through the options, then sends a written fixed quote. You decide before anything is cut or removed.

Parking near the station and Westfield fills fast, so we allow for it and still arrive inside the window we gave you. If the Pacific Highway jams, we phone ahead.

We vacuum drill dust, carry old fittings away, hand over your compliance certificate and show you which breaker now controls what in your Hornsby home or shop.

Nearby suburbs we also serve

Back in 2017 Spyro opened the doors with a van and a licence; today five-plus licensed electricians carry the name, and Hornsby fills a good part of our week. The suburb keeps us varied: a strata board swap near the rail line in the morning, a Federation rewire off Rosemead Road after lunch, then a retail lighting fault on Peats Ferry Road. One electrician stays with each job from quote to handover so nothing gets lost.

It is Spyro here. If a Hornsby apartment board won’t stay on, or your place near Lisgar Gardens is still fitted with porcelain fuses, phone 02 8999 3691 and I will send an electrician from our team to fix it the right way.

The 2021 Census counted 3,727 rented dwellings in Hornsby, 43 per cent of the total and well above the 32.6 per cent NSW rate. With flats making up 59.1 per cent of homes, landlords and strata managers here need alarm records that hold up at every lease change.

Each Hornsby job we finish is backed by a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW), whether it is one circuit in a new tower or a whole-house rewire in a 1900s cottage. Replacing or altering a board triggers the AS/NZS 3000 rule that every final subcircuit gets residual current protection, and since 1 May 2023 Type AC devices are off limits in new work, so the safety switches we install are Type A or higher.
Before any work starts you receive one fixed price on paper. Guessing over the phone makes little sense in Hornsby: new downlights in a recent apartment near the interchange might take an hour or two, while the same job in a double-brick Federation house on Rosemead Road means crawling through a low roof and working around ornate ceilings. We look, measure, then commit to a number.
Unit board tripping near the interchange, a lease about to start without alarm paperwork, or a Peats Ferry Road shop short of outlets? Phone 02 8999 3691. We send a licensed electrician to look in person, you get the fixed figure in writing, and our workmanship is guaranteed for life.
These are the questions Hornsby tenants, landlords, strata managers and shop owners put to us most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Very often. Weekday bookings run 7am to 5:30pm, Saturdays 7am to 2pm, and Sunday we rest. Hornsby is part of our regular northern run, so a morning call to 02 8999 3691 usually lands a visit before knock-off. If you smell burning, see scorch marks or the main switch refuses to reset, say so at the start of the call and we treat it as urgent.
We give you a firm figure after seeing the work, not before. In Hornsby the same request can take very different effort: adding a power point in a recent apartment with accessible ceilings is quick, but the same outlet in a double-brick 1910s home may involve chasing masonry. Once we have looked, the fixed written price only changes if you ask for extra work.
That comes down to location. Wiring fed from the board inside your own apartment is generally the owner’s responsibility, whereas the main switchroom, rising mains, basement and hallway lighting usually fall to the owners corporation. Flats are 59.1 per cent of Hornsby dwellings, so this question comes up weekly. We find the actual fault first, then put our finding on paper for both you and the building manager.
It is worth checking. Hornsby homes built before and just after electricity arrived in 1923–24 often carry rubber-insulated cable, patchy earthing and old fuse panels with no RCD protection. We test insulation resistance, tell you which circuits remain sound and quote a staged rewiring plan if needed. The aim is a safe home without ripping out plaster ceilings or original timber joinery.
Yes. Several properties in that part of Hornsby, including Mount Errington, Kuranda and Birklands, appear on heritage lists, and the surrounding streets hold many Federation houses. Internal rewiring is usually straightforward, but we keep meter boxes, conduits and outdoor lights away from street elevations and protect decorative ceilings and joinery. For anything visible from outside, check approval needs with Hornsby Shire Council before we begin.
Every level of the rental needs a working alarm. A fault the tenant reports must be fixed within two business days, alarms past ten years from manufacture must be replaced, and any hard-wired alarm must go in via a licensed electrician. With 43 per cent of Hornsby homes leased, we run many of these checks and leave a dated record for your agent.
Often, yes, but it needs planning. Most blocks near the station have basement parking where power comes from a shared board. We check spare capacity, design a dedicated circuit to your bay, prepare the details the owners corporation needs to approve it, then install and test the charger. For freestanding homes with a garage the process is simpler and usually done in a day.
We do. Hornsby has a traditional high street on Peats Ferry Road, a large Westfield with hundreds of stores, and a hospital precinct that draws medical tenants. We add dedicated circuits for equipment, repair faulty emergency and exit lighting, upgrade shop LED downlights and schedule noisy work around opening hours so you keep trading.
It can. Parts of Hornsby back onto Old Mans Valley, Florence Cotton Park and the Lisgar Gardens bush, and steep sloping blocks collect runoff. We check outdoor power points and garden lighting for moisture, make sure every outside circuit has RCD protection and use weatherproof fittings rated for damp, shaded spots where leaves pile up.
All of Hornsby 2077, including Peats Ferry Road, the Florence Street mall, Westfield Hornsby, Hornsby Park, Lisgar Gardens, Hookhams Corner, Rosemead Road, Dural Street and the streets near Old Mans Valley. We are also out daily in Waitara, Hornsby Heights, Asquith, Normanhurst, Westleigh, Wahroonga, Thornleigh, Mount Colah and the rest of the upper north.
