Leichhardt specials are open now for terrace owners near Pioneers Memorial Park, renters around Marion Street, and traders in the Italian Forum and along Norton Street. Units by Lambert Park qualify too. Bring up the offer when you book and we apply it straight away.

Leichhardt has an unusually even housing split. The 2021 Census recorded 36.5 per cent separate houses, 33.6 per cent terraces, semis or townhouses, and 29.0 per cent flats, against 11.7 per cent attached homes statewide. The suburb was proclaimed a municipality in 1871, and its town hall and post office date from 1888, so plenty of narrow Victorian terraces and cottages still carry wiring altered over many decades. We handle terrace rewiring, board changes in cramped entry halls and extra circuits for renovated kitchens.

Norton Street is the commercial spine, with restaurants, cafes, the Palace Cinema, Norton Plaza and the Italian Forum. MarketPlace Leichhardt holds more than 60 specialty stores. For kitchens, salons, studios and offices we plan circuits, emergency lighting and tenancy fit-outs, timing the noisy work outside peak service.

Leichhardt gets same-day service from us, whether the job sits off Balmain Road or down near the Hawthorne Canal. Urgent calls we see: an old terrace dropping its lights after a heavy downpour, a Norton Street espresso machine circuit failing at breakfast, or a charred outlet behind a rented unit fridge.
Renters now occupy 40.4 per cent of Leichhardt homes, so a good share of our work comes through property managers who need alarms, RCDs and tired switches brought up to date between leases. Terrace owners call us before renovating, restaurants along Norton Street want more capacity, and families in houses near Blackmore Oval ask for ceiling fans and better lighting. As the electrician in Leichhardt for all of them, we spend a lot of time inside century-old party walls.
Leichhardt has been a centre of Italian life since the mid 1900s, and homes held by one family for decades often carry several generations of additions. We find mixed cable types, missing earths and boards buried in hallway cupboards. When a fault cannot wait, our urgent electrician service reaches you quickly here and in the surrounding streets of the Inner West.

Terraces, semis and townhouses make up a third of Leichhardt homes. We replace brittle early cable, add earthing and upgrade boards without disturbing cornices, fretwork or original street facades.
About 40 per cent of dwellings are leased. Agents ask us to test RCDs, fit hard-wired smoke alarms and supply dated reports for landlords before the next tenant moves in.
Italian restaurants, cafes and bars fill Norton Street and the Italian Forum. We add dedicated feeds for ovens, coffee machines and cool rooms, and schedule work away from lunch and dinner rushes.
Flats account for 29 per cent of homes, many clustered toward Parramatta Road and the light rail. We fix faults inside lots and report clearly to strata where common circuits are involved.

Our licensed electricians regularly open up Leichhardt terraces from the 1880s and 1890s and understand how their cabling threads between brick party walls, timber floors and narrow roof cavities.

We look first, then send one written figure. A MarketPlace-side flat and a Wetherill Street terrace are quoted differently, because access and cable routes vary enormously.

A Norton Street kitchen that loses a circuit mid-service or a tenant with a scorched outlet gets pushed up our list, so nobody waits around for hours.

Our 250+ customers include Leichhardt tenants, landlords, terrace renovators and restaurant owners, and word often travels through neighbours along the same lane or the same strata block.

Every circuit we install in a Leichhardt home or shop carries a lifetime labour guarantee, including concealed rewires beneath restored floorboards and pressed-metal ceilings.

Share your street and whether there is rear lane access or a timed parking zone out front. We pick a slot that suits your tenants, your household or your trading hours.

The electrician checks the board, the roof void and your cable paths, explains what needs doing in plain language and follows up with a fixed written quote.

Kerbside spots near Norton Street are limited, so we plan where the van goes and arrive in the agreed window. If Parramatta Road traffic holds us up, we phone ahead.

Drop sheets protect original Baltic pine and tiles, rubbish goes in our van, and you receive the CCEW with a plain note listing which Leichhardt circuits were changed.

Local pockets we cover in Leichhardt
Nearby suburbs we also serve

The business began with Spyro in 2017 and now runs five-plus licensed electricians, with Leichhardt among the suburbs we visit most. Work here needs patience with old terraces and speed for restaurants that cannot trade in the dark. Whether it is a smoke alarm round for a Norton Street agency or a full rewire in a Catherine Street cottage, the electrician who quotes your job is the one who completes it.

One in three Leichhardt dwellings is a terrace, semi or townhouse, and key civic buildings here date from the 1880s, so a great deal of the housing is well over a century old. Those homes often mix original cable, mid-century extensions and later DIY, which makes a planned rewire the job we are asked about most.

Every Leichhardt job ends with a CCEW, the compliance certificate NSW requires from licensed electricians. Terraces that have stood since the late 1800s often hide surprises, so anything faulty we uncover is either corrected or written up for you. If we replace or alter a board, AS/NZS 3000 requires RCD coverage over each final subcircuit, and since 1 May 2023 Type AC units cannot go into new work, so we install Type A.
Our quotes are a single written figure, settled before any tools come out. Estimating over the phone does not suit Leichhardt: a new light circuit in a modern apartment near Taverners Hill might be quick, but the same result in a two-storey Victorian terrace off Norton Street can mean lifting floorboards and chasing solid brick. We assess, explain, then fix the price.
Planning to rewire a Leichhardt terrace, need a rental brought up to code before new tenants arrive, or want more power for a Norton Street kitchen? Dial 02 8999 3691. An electrician will visit, check the job properly and leave you a firm written price, backed by our lifetime labour guarantee.
These come up most often from Leichhardt terrace owners, renters, landlords, strata committees and Norton Street business owners. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
In most cases. We are on the road Monday to Friday between 7am and 5:30pm, plus Saturday mornings from 7am until 2pm, and Leichhardt sits right on our regular Inner West routes. Ring 02 8999 3691 early in the day and we can usually get someone to you before we finish. A hot or buzzing board, sparks from a socket, or no power at all will be treated as urgent.
Only after we have seen the work. Two jobs that sound alike can be very different here: fitting new lights in a recent apartment near the light rail is straightforward, while the same task in a Victorian terrace with lath ceilings and brick party walls takes much more time. We visit, explain the options, and write down one fixed figure that stays put unless you ask for additions.
Age is the main one. Many terraces here date from the 1880s and 1890s and have been rewired in fragments, so we find rubber or cloth insulated cable spliced to modern cable, missing earth conductors, and fuse boards with no residual current protection. Overloaded double adaptors in kitchens are another warning sign. We test each circuit, show you what is sound and quote a practical upgrade.
It shapes the method rather than stopping the work. Leichhardt has listed buildings such as the 1888 town hall and post office, and many streets have period facades the council expects to keep. Internal rewiring is normally fine; we avoid new conduit or meter boxes on the street face and protect original cornices, ceiling roses and joinery. Check with Inner West Council if you are unsure about approvals for external changes.
It depends on where it lies. Wiring from the board inside your unit to your own rooms generally sits with you as lot owner, while main boards, meter panels, hallway lighting and car park circuits are usually common property. With 29 per cent of Leichhardt homes being flats, we trace these faults often and send the lot owner and the building manager the same written result.
Keep a working alarm on each level, arrange a repair within two business days of your tenant reporting a fault, and swap out any alarm once it reaches ten years from manufacture. Hard-wired alarms must be fitted by a licensed electrician. With four in ten Leichhardt homes rented, we do many of these jobs for agents and can add alarm testing with a dated record for your file.
It depends on parking. The Census shows 1.3 vehicles per dwelling here, but many terraces have only street parking, so a charger works best where there is a rear lane garage, a carport or a basement space. We check whether the board has spare capacity, upgrade it if needed, and run a dedicated circuit to the charger. Chargers on public footpaths are not something we install.
Yes. Norton Street and the Italian Forum hold a dense run of eateries, and older shopfronts often need more supply than they were built for. We design circuits for commercial ovens, dishwashers, refrigeration and coffee machines, install exit and emergency lighting, and book the disruptive work outside service hours so trade can continue.
Common causes are loose connections at ageing switches or light fittings, an overloaded circuit shared by too many appliances, or a deteriorating neutral in old cable. Occasionally it is a supply issue that affects the whole street, which is an Ausgrid matter. We test the circuits, tighten or replace failing parts, and tell you honestly whether a partial or full rewire is the better long-term fix.
We cover all of Leichhardt 2040, including Norton Street, the Italian Forum, MarketPlace Leichhardt, Marion Street, Balmain Road, Catherine Street, Wetherill Street, Pioneers Memorial Park, Lambert Park, Leichhardt Oval, Blackmore Oval and the Hawthorne Canal edge. Our electricians also work every day in Lilyfield, Annandale, Haberfield, Petersham, Lewisham, Stanmore and Rozelle.
