Only 34.8 per cent of Telopea homes are detached houses, compared with 65.6 per cent across NSW. The 2021 Census split the rest almost evenly: 30.5 per cent townhouses or semis and 34.3 per cent flats. Most streets filled after the sewer arrived in the 1950s, so the post-war brick homes and older walk-ups here often keep ceramic fuses and unearthed lighting loops. We carry out switchboard replacements, circuit extensions for extra kitchen gear and tidy new power points in two-bedroom units, which make up a third of local dwellings.

Telopea is residential first. Its trade sits in the Waratah Shopping Centre on Benaud Place and the row of shops facing the old station on Adderton Road, beside the library and community hall. For those tenancies we fault-find, relamp signage and add circuits for fridges, ovens and chemist counters.

Same-day service covers every Telopea street between Kissing Point Road and Pennant Hills Road. Typical urgent jobs: a townhouse board that trips whenever the kettle and heater run together, a smoking outlet in a 1950s cottage, or a dead light over a walk-up stairwell.
Nearly half of Telopea homes were leased at the 2021 Census, 46.4 per cent, so a steady share of our visits come through landlords and managing agents. Owners of the older cottages call about scorched fittings and missing earths, while townhouse committees want common lighting fixed quickly. As a Telopea local electrician we also handle small jobs for the Benaud Place shops and those facing the Adderton Road light rail stop.
The suburb is changing fast. With the precinct rezoned in 2018 for around 4,500 new homes, families buying the remaining houses often want wiring brought up to date before they renovate. Around Vineyard Creek Reserve we see storm-related trips and wet outdoor fittings, and when something fails badly we run an urgent fault callout the same day across the Northern Suburbs.

Telopea was largely rural until the 1950s, then filled with modest brick homes. Their original wiring now struggles with split systems and induction, so we replace fuse panels and add dedicated circuits.
Almost two in three local dwellings are flats, semis or townhouses. We repair stair and carpark lighting, trace faults on shared submains and explain which repairs fall to the owners corporation.
With 46.4 per cent of homes rented, agents rely on us for hard-wired smoke alarms, RCD checks and written reports that satisfy NSW tenancy rules between occupants.
The 2018 rezoning allows roughly 4,500 homes near the light rail stop. Owners renovating ahead of that change ask us to add capacity for heat pumps, ovens and future EV charging.

Our licensed team has worked through the brick cottages Telopea gained after the 1950s sewer link, including their ceramic fuses, thin rubber cable and shared lighting loops that confuse newer tradespeople.

A Wade Street unit and a detached Adderton Road home need very different effort, so we inspect each one, then write down one fixed figure before any cable is cut.

If a townhouse near Benaud Place loses half its lights or an outlet starts smoking, we reshuffle our run and send an electrician out that same working day.

More than 250 customers have rated us, among them Telopea landlords, townhouse owners and shopkeepers who passed our number along after a straightforward first job.

Every circuit we wire in Telopea, from a unit kitchen to a cottage rewire near Vineyard Creek, carries our labour guarantee for as long as you own the place.

Book by phone and mention your block, the visitor parking, or whether the meter box sits in a shared garage. We then give you a window that fits work or school runs.

After our look at the meter box and the rooms involved, a written fixed figure lands in your inbox. Strata lots get the common property question answered before we start.

Our van arrives in the slot we promised. If light rail roadworks on Adderton Road slow us, we phone ahead with a revised arrival time rather than leaving you guessing.

Before leaving we vacuum the dust, bag every offcut, test each circuit again and email the compliance certificate, which your agent or strata manager can file.

Local pockets we cover in Telopea
Nearby suburbs we also serve

From Spyro working solo in 2017, we have become a crew of five-plus licensed electricians. Telopea keeps us busy with a mix you rarely find in one small suburb: public housing blocks, private townhouses, post-war cottages and a heritage-listed Walter Burley Griffin house on Adderton Road. We match the approach to the building, keep tenants informed and write everything down for owners and agents, so each Telopea job ends with clear paperwork.

Rented dwellings made up 46.4 per cent of Telopea at the 2021 Census, well above the 32.6 per cent NSW figure. With social housing blocks, private investor units and townhouses side by side, alarm and safety compliance is the job we are asked about most here.

A Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work goes to every Telopea customer after the job, whether it is a single outlet or a full board swap. Many local cottages date from the 1950s building wave and still run on rewireable fuses, so once we alter a board, AS/NZS 3000 obliges RCD protection across its final subcircuits. Older Type AC switches are off the table for fresh work from 1 May 2023, so Telopea boards get Type A.
Our quotes arrive as a single written figure after we have checked the site. That matters in Telopea: running a new circuit inside a two-bedroom walk-up can be a short job through a shared ceiling void, while the same request in a post-war brick cottage may mean crawling under timber floors. We look at the actual house, then commit to one price.
Blown fuses in a Telopea cottage, a smoke alarm notice from your agent, or a townhouse committee chasing a stair light fault? Phone 02 8999 3691; we come out, look closely, put one agreed figure in writing and stand behind that labour permanently.
Telopea landlords, tenants, townhouse committees and cottage owners send us these questions most. If yours is not covered here, call us on 02 8999 3691.
Usually. Weekday hours run 7am until 5:30pm and Saturdays 7am until 2pm, and we pass through Telopea regularly on the way between Carlingford and Ermington. A morning call to 02 8999 3691 normally lands a same-afternoon visit. Arcing sockets, a warm board that smells of plastic or a main switch refusing to reset get bumped forward.
We avoid guessing over the phone. An electrician looks at the board, the cable route and the access, then sends a written fixed quote. A new outlet in a newer unit might take very little time, while the same job in a 1950s cottage with a cramped subfloor takes longer. The figure we write down stays put unless you add work.
In most cases, yes. Telopea filled with brick houses after the 1950s sewer connection, and many still have ceramic fuse carriers with no residual current protection. Those panels were never designed for split systems, induction cooktops and dryers running at once. We test the existing circuits, tell you which are sound and quote a new board with safety switches on every circuit.
It depends where the fault sits. Wiring from your own meter and board into your rooms is usually yours, while driveway lights, shared meter panels and submains are normally common property. About 30.5 per cent of Telopea dwellings are townhouses or semis, so we trace this often. We find the fault first and give the owner and strata manager the same written report.
Each level of a leased Telopea home must have a working alarm. Report a dud one and the landlord gets two business days to repair it; any alarm a decade past its build date goes. Hard-wired units must go in via a licensed electrician. With close to half of Telopea homes rented, agents book us between tenancies to test alarms and leave dated records.
It can. The precinct was rezoned in 2018 for around 4,500 new homes near the light rail stop, and the first stage alone plans about 440 apartments. If you are renovating an existing home nearby, it is sensible to size your new switchboard for heat pumps, induction and an EV charger now, so later additions do not need another board change.
Homes near the bushland along Vineyard Creek tend to have longer garden lighting runs, pumps and sheds, and those outdoor circuits take the brunt of storms and damp soil. We check outdoor fittings for water entry, make sure every exterior circuit sits behind an RCD and replace corroded weatherproof outlets. Trees also drop limbs on overhead consumer lines to garages, which we can reroute.
We can work carefully on older and listed homes. Redstone at 34 Adderton Road was designed by Walter Burley Griffin in 1935 and is on the State Heritage Register, so any owner of a listed place should check approvals with the City of Parramatta first. For heritage homes we keep new cable concealed, reuse existing penetrations and avoid cutting original fabric.
Yes. The Waratah Shopping Centre on Benaud Place and the shops facing the station on Adderton Road run fridges, ovens, lighting and signage for long hours. We repair tripping circuits, add commercial power and lighting, fix emergency lights and schedule noisy work before opening so trading carries on.
We cover all of Telopea 2117, including Adderton Road, Benaud Place, Wade Street, Polding Place, the light rail stop area and the streets around Vineyard Creek Reserve, between Kissing Point Road and Pennant Hills Road. We also work daily in Dundas Valley, Dundas, Carlingford, Oatlands, Ermington, Rydalmere, North Rocks and Eastwood.
